I got this game recently and holy shit it looks so gorgeous expecially on a high definition flat screen! IT looks better than most CGI movies I've seen. My mom thought it was a movie. It all depends on what controller your using for this game. In N: JoD you can use either the Wii-Mote, the Classic Controller, and the Gamecube controller( I use the Gamecube one).

In concept images, NiGHTS looks like s/he has similar expressions to a male character, especially Sonic the Hedgehog. But I agree with you that there is a lot of feminine features to the character. SEGA claims that the character is intended to take on the gender of the player, so they leave him/her "genderless", but it's really up to everyone else to give the character a gender. You say it's female and I lean more in the male direction. We're both correct.
