I think this video was created well in that the clips fit together well. They were not choppy, nor did it look like they came from amature camera shots. The story was a bit hard to follow, but the editing was great!
I think, while the narrative shots look good, they lack any kind of cohesive element to the song. Seems like they were picked/shot because they looked good not because the content supplemented the direction of the video. Solid effort overall, though. What kind of jib are you using?
I find a very big problem with this video. This almost seems as if you're using Dig to promote your short film (as it if was part of the "soundtrack") instead of selling the band, that is the number one thing to do in a music video (or at least, sell the concept of the song, which I don't really see reflected here). The job is great, but it just doesn't work for me, sorry.
Nice editing. One of the better videos posted. I wasnt sure what the story was until i saw the comments. this would definately make me want to see the video again to figure it out. good videos make you want to see them again...good job
Hey, at least your story isn't another cliche lost relationship. I was worried that the amusement park story would devolve into dreariness, but you jumped in with some wise guys doing a murder and ended with an asylum! That's an ideal dramatic confusion for this mess of a song.
I know there is a lot of talk about the b-roll clips, but I think the band footage, and the way it's cut is more important...I spent 98% of my time, finding the right moment to go with the right verse.
they're both equally important. one has to compliment the other in some way. here, they seem too separated to me. but that's just my opinion. and yeah, as someone said above, if you win you'll lose the rights to thos clips.
I would suggest making the band footage fit that style. Add those little distortions you have appearing through the video, make it color and keeping it looking raw like the rest. Also, the message or storyline isn't entirely clear. So really, you did awesome. I hope to see a second draft.
it doesn't matter if this doesn't connect the song.. its a good video. all the people that this guy supose to know are the people in the mental clinic. have you seen the movie STAY?? well, you should. it fits here perefectly.
Dude, thats good and fine and all, and it looks great, but it hardly connects with the song on any level. It almost seems you hope to use the video if you win to promote your short film.
Yes! The shots were for a short film called the Hitman Monologue -- shot on DVX100. It's a 10 minute short and I will upload it as soon as I can, and provide a link.
PS. lot of people compared my short film to Max Payne the video game. This is by chance. I never heard of the game until I was told that my project resembles it.
The camera and editing work are wonderful, but if I were you, I wouldn't use clips from an existing work. As soon as you agree to their terms, you'll lose all the rights to the clips.
If the additional shots are really yours from another project, I'd love to see the whole thing. Again, they don't really fit with the music video, but they look great.
this thing is seriously like a puzzle or something. I almost feel dumber everytime I watch it cuz I can't crack it open. So, I guess it's good that it keeps me coming back. Also, is the person who suggested that your footage is part of another project correct? Because while I don't think it connects with "Dig" I'd love to see the larger whole. Maybe that's what you're going for?
needless to say that it's amazing..I agree with the fact that your intentions with the story are kind of vague, though I see some things in it that have a connection with eachother. I believe the guy in the suit, looking kind of tough, is the same guy as in the beginning of the video with and the same that ends up in a wheelchair with his (ex)girlfriend taking care of him?
it feels like you just took clips from another movie you made and tried to make them work for this music video, bt it didnt do it for me at all. however, i would love to see the full movie you made.
Ill say it: I have no freakin idea what your narrative is about. You have beautiful production quality...those crane shots are goooorgeous! -But your story? Totally clueless.
is that guys supposed to be brandon?

good story...the end is great. And the background is one of the best. I think this one is the best video so far.

In my opinion, easily the best video so far. If anything, it's the best green screen editing I've seen so far.
This is the one to beat right here. I only hope what I'm able to do this weekend can match up.
Great job.

The camera work is beautiful.
I really like the use of color.

Any GOOD memorable music video relates to the song. Otherwise, what's the point?
