Thank you for honoring Alex Chilton in this way. This is certainly one of the most touching commemorations I have heard in a political forum.

I was 6 when I first heard Alex Chilton singing The Letter. I still have the very 45 my mom bought back then. I grew up on Alex's music--from the Box Tops to Big Star, to his solo endeavors--I love it all--and his passing was deeply saddening. It just goes to show that we need to appreciate each and every day. Congressman, YOU ROCK!

That was pretty cool. I had read you had done that, a class thing to do. The Letter was the first song I knew all the words to as a kid, Alex Chilton meant a lot to me. That voice. I have been rediscovering him this year, his sudden passing shocked me. A moving tribute, before the House of Representatives. Alex, a shy musician would be pleased & honored by your words. Though I lost my fondness for this city years ago, I am ever thankful that you have continued to remain in office and continue to serve this city.
