@slaveofdarkmoon an amazing song by Joan Baez, a song i fell in love by judas priest's version, you guys really need to hear her original folk version of this song.
I've listened to this song numerous times with both singers. But the verdict is one: Ripper has taken the Metal God's crown on that one. Halford just can't keep up.
@nognir616 Halford's crown is still on his head and he kicks ass in this song. Who the fuck is Tim? I know, he was Rob's part -time replacement. Do you get it? A replacement! Halford, in his sixties sings better than Owens will ever be able to. It is not a competition, but Halford will always be a way better singer. That's just a fact. And one more, Rob is Judas Priest, not Owens. Cheers!
man your out of tune weirdo... ive been in to rob and ronnie james dio my whole life and not once heard them sing flat live or on tv so wisen up dont be a hater...
I hope he just had a *bat* cold during this concert. It´s right, what someone said above: Ripper did a much better job on the acoustic version than Rob did here. I don´t know an older acoustic version by Rob.
Anyways. I prefer it heavy metal style. One of a kind is the concert in Memphis 1982.
not the old age. listen to Diamonds and Rust in rising in the east dvd!!! beautiful!!!!! superb voice. we are not in our best shape every day! Rob`s human...half human half (metal) GOD lololol
I think that the version on Sin After Sin of this song sounds like a really good disco song... which is different for me, since I think that most disco music is garbage.
Oh, and I think this version blows. I want the old version back, like the one on the Memphis 1982 concert!
yeah i know That Dude and That Prove You are a Priest Fan I wrote that long time ago and you Are the first One that Reply Hail To U You Are A True Defender of Steel
Are you from West Virginia? Seriously. I know someone from there who used to go by that very name and I haven't seem him for AGES. (from: Fellow metal head from the past who currently lives in Fredericksburg, VA).
Rob sings this song better on Rising in the East. His voice in unclear here, but on the harder songs he has little power on Rising in the East. I think when Rob's voice has recovered from all the touring then he'll be much better than both the Reunion Tour and Rising in the East.
My god, Halfords voice gives me goosebumps, it's so wonderful. Rippers version on Live in London was to me very unmusical. I believe he did some ok versions- Painkiller for instance.
I have seen this one live in 1984, and have played it in my band... this version "Accoustic" is shit. This goes out to the band... dump this accoustic version, grab your electrics and put your ass on the line and play it right!! Dont wimp out like Metallica did...
ripper had more powerful vocals in alot of their songs... some he shouldnt of done like painkiller, but ripper did bring diamonds and russ back to acoustic... so thank him for that
WHOEVER THINKS ROB IS FUCKED CAN KISS ME ASS! ROB IS GOD AND IF HE HEARD YOU SAY THAT THEN HE WOULD KICK YOUR ASS! I DON'T GIVE A SHIT HOW OLD THE MAN IS HE COULD STILL TAKE YOU!
I did listen to the fuckin song. I've heard both singers and Rob Halford needs to kick Rippers ass for fucking up his music. Now... I don't really have anything against Ripper.... other then he fucked up Robs music. I mean... he's alright when it comes to his own music but common.. how much of that have you actually seen is his career? Most of his career was spent in a Priest cover band. Common.. I mean..yeah priest has great songs but don't be a cover band. COME UP WITH YOUR OWN SHIT!
oh come up with my own shit? well wait a couple of days, then you will see some fuckin better shit than this. Halford is over, realize, I know he had a great career, but sometime it has to end. better to end it while on top. this is just pathetic.

I always awaited that due to an act of self reflection on a Manowar concert the band would break up and disappear.
