You know, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, and as a "pre-hagar-only" fan, I LOVE seeing DLR up there again and Eddie is playing well. Having said that, I will say that I don't like the way dave is singing and he looks so stiff up there - like he was never part of the band. Michael Anthony while never a great musician, is missed as part of the orig chemistry too. I'm not saying I wouldn't go see them if they came to town, but maybe this proves that sometimes you can't go back...

Dave's sounds great, love his voice, classic!! Did you knoe Dave's had back problems since the early 80's. That accident where he broke his nose in Italy also did damage to his back. Dave's a real trooper, you wont hear him complaining he just gets on with the show!!

That nose incident was the reason that I the concert in Copenhagen got cancelled.

I was in Copenhagen May 23 1980 and found out that the gig was cancelled.

On the way back to the boats (I live in Sweden) I saw a familiar person that I just couldn't place and I had to think really hard where I'd seen this person before.

Well all of a sudden it was clear as can be cause it was Eddie Van Halen walking along with some girl.

Hey these guys are doin all right on this song,at least compared to some of the other videos I've seen from this tour.

LOVe this song--This was the first "rock swing" song that VH did,and IMO,this was THEIR original contribution to the Rock world--Combining Hard Rock Guitar with a "swing" groove. The songs they did in this "Rock Swing" mode were some of their best.("Beautiful Girls","So this is Love",and of course,Hot for Teacher" )

Daves moves are getting a bit weird and jerky, like an arthritic lounge singer. Much like the unpredictable movement of EVH's fingers during solos. Does he think his directionless improv-ing sounds good? Isn't this the same guy who criticized Jimmy Page for soling live with "Baby Hands?" Yeah missing Anthony on this and all of the songs. He was an integral part of thier sound. Being selfish about Van Halen I wish that Eddie would use Marshalls again. I miss his hot blues tone which cut through the mix amazingly well without sounding tinny or small. He really butchers the solos in this song. That second one has one of the coolest fast pentatonic licks ever in my opinion (on the first album), too bad he didn't try to learn it and play it like he used to. But he has a right!

He also uses way too many pedals and shit now and he's always clicking something on or off which fucks his concentration up. His new amps are too distorted and dark sounding. The presence and crunch of old Marshalls can't be topped.

I played that first album until there was nothing left of it while smoking some other than normal tabacco. Man...this song made made trippin', including alkinds of colors. Its like a prayer come true that David is back again, ist a pitty that Mike isn't there with them. After David left it was never the real thing, it was as if Edward also changed his guitar playing and sound. Never bought any records after David was gone. This performance of Edward BTW is crap.

The root of Van Halen was always the chemistry between David Lee Roth and Eddie Van Halen. It's what made songs like this one so spectacular, and unique. Seriously, what other rock band could have come up with this song? And that includes Van Hagar, who never came close.

Michael Sobolewski added some great vocal harmonies to the mix, but that was Ted Templeman's doing as much as anything. Don't believe me, listen to the boots - live or demos. Not anything special as a bassplayer though.
