we should prevent all animal cruelty, not just man-on-animal. We should stop the wolves and bobcats from killing other animals. We should force them to watch the videos that PETA puts out until they realize the error of their ways and convert to vegetarians.
Seriously, though, organic and free range is the way to go but giving up meat is just idealistic crap.
That's why I'm a member and supporter of CIWF, and ónly buy and eat organic meat-products from which I'm 100% sure the animal has had a decent, healthy, peaceful, happy, longer and naturally good life.
But I do agree with some of the replies here that the stress suffering and pain they endure on their way to, and in, the slaughterhouses still isn't properly accounted for or being taken care of...
They are still sent to industrialized, USDA regulated slaughterhouses, in order to be sold to grocery stores. and turkeys are not covered under the USDA Humane Slaughter Act (not that its even enforced). I can say that going veg was the best thing I ever did with my life. I dont need meat, and neither do you, we just have habits and traditions, and craving for salt and fat. We are not true carnivores, so our intense consumption of meat is unnecessary. In America, we are obese, not malnourished.
Look, that bird was coming right up to the humans camera, unlike the chickens from a factory video I jus saw that were running away at the sight of the human filming them. That says a lot.
Want to know what is unacceptable about this. They are still KILLED, and if I remember right GOD himself said "Thou shall not KILL." If you don't believe in God, Can I slit your dogs/cats throat cause I like the taste of them? The whole protect pets, fuck the others mentality is rooted by pure selfishness and greed nothing else. Besides think about it, your eating dead rotting flesh. FACT animal flesh begins to decompose in about 24 hours after death.
Some people eat dogs and cats but I don't go on a crusade and tell them to stop, Second they live a good life before they are sent to be slaughtered, How else are you going to eat them.
Why do you feel the need to eat them. Flesh is toxic to the human system, that is a fact. Don't believe me do a google search for Health Risks of Eating Meat, the do one Health Risks of Eating Vegetables. Then answer this Q? What good things comes from killing? and consuming dead flesh?
No it isn't, In large quantities yes but so is everything else too. Daily consumption of red meat has shown higher risk of cancer, but a purely vegan diet has shown to insufficent in prtoein and vitamin B12 and is detrimental to expectant mothers and newborn babies, In fact there is an article about that in The New York Times. And for your question lots of things, healthy skin, and hair, no nerve damge, Iron, Protein, Zinc, Omega 3 fatty acids, Vitamin B 12, etc.
God was NOT talking about animals when he said not to kill. Quit misapplying Bible scriptures out of context. Too many other times, he commanded the killing of animals for blood sacrifices.
YOU are the one who's wrong. God ordained the killing of certain animals, as per stated above, so stop taking the commandment against human murder out of context.
Ask your local biologist or an anthropologist. Human digestive system is made to handle both produce and meats. Our set of 32 choppers is made to handle them both. Take in into a consideration, that if we were herbivores, we would have only front and back choppers. Not to mention the mans brain, its this rare protein that's only found in mean, that has helped us evolve from primates into humans.
You clearly know nothing about how food is assimilated, nor human and animal physiology... Oh the tooth argument, is that the best you have, please do you have anything better? Horse's have front teeth and molars. I have seen a horses and cows feed beef does that make them omnivores? Let us not forget the great ape the gorilla they have big canine and molars and live purely on a vegan diet.
Do you think cooked food is what the natural human diet is?
Not it not. Eating meats is engraved into our society.
Go to: Sicily, Caucasus. Pay a visit to the Indians in North Canada. Take away meats from them, see what happens to their nutrition value at such harsh places.
Just to make a note, so I don't get wrongly accused. I am not pro, nor against vegans or vegetarians . I'm against intensive animal farms, but if animal is treated properly and fed properly until the day of its death, I don't see any wrongdoing in that.

Eating meats is engraved into our society. That does not make it necessary for human survival. Look at it this way, 100 years ago owning slaves was in engraved in society. 70 years ago a woman have NO rights was engraved as well. Sicily and Inuit have a look at their mortality rates, just google "Inuit mortality rate" it is at a third world mortality rate...
Japanese have meat rich diet, and they usually grow up to be, the worlds oldest people. Their health and vitality is astonishing.
Inuits are dyeing because of the economic segregation, and lack of health coverage. Find me an article about Inuits dyeing, because of meat consumption.
@scorpk8 What's funny is, I actually think that on a daily basis...What if.....they are consciously more AWARE than we think, and that's when I tell myself that I am merely kidnapping 1 dozen chicken's offsprings when I go to the grocery store every month with no ransom note but Omega-3's and body fortifying proteins.
I rear poultry for meat. I concur with your statements on here. Just look at the turkeys in this video clip. There's nothing wrong with their living conditions, and they have green grass to roam and forage on.
The fact they're close to each other, is just turkey behavior. Like geese, they are highly gregarious. You will see wild flocks just like this too, up to 300 birds strong.
@juliaisthebomb1 If they are handled humanely, the slaughter is just a quick means to some of the best meat money can buy. There's no reason to mistreat those birds prior to their killing.
@scorpk8 Actually, the commandment is 'Thou Shalt not MURDER'. Killing can have reason, however Murder does not. No, you can't kill my dog/cat, it's my emergency ration, get your own.
Also, God gave animals to mankind for his use (Genesis 1:26-30; 9:1-4). But, this does not mean that humans have the right mistreat animals and the environment (Genesis 2:15; Deuteronomy 22:6-7; 25:4; Proverbs 12:10). Remember, God created all things and that includes the Food Chain.
Yeah, sorta reminds me of the modern Sinclair's The Jungle.
You know what's funny, Sinclair ended up going back to meat after he wrote that and wrote another book that shows how much better his health was when he went back to eating meat.
thi is how all animals should be treated with respect.......and make it less painfull at least give them better living conditions they do provide yuor pay.......you know

I love how many vegans/vegetarians misinterprets that all animals are cooped up in cages and think all farms are just like "factory" farms.
ironman711 2 years ago
They are. Under 1% of all animal farms are setup in this fashion in the USA.
msprout 2 years ago
And where did you get that "percentage"?
I see more farms that have animals roam free than there are "factory" farms.
ironman711 2 years ago
Anecdotal evidence is not real evidence.
The percentage is from a book called Chew On This by Eric Schlosser, the author of Fast Food Nation. If you'd like to read it, here is the ISBN-13:
