  • Wow!!!

  • Those people plastering words over this video and talking while Doc and Chet are playing should have more respect.

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • These two are masters. Yes, Tommy and Phil are flat awesome, but you have to pay homage to those that came first. Neither TOmmy or Phil wil ever be as smooth as Chet, or flatpick like Doc, but they are amazing.

Sad when people waste their time arguing instead of listening to great music. Personally, I'd listen to any of those guys at any time.

  • Ilove them both, Chet perhaps is a little smoother but Doc tops my personal list of best flat-top pickers, Tony Rice and Norman Blake are definately numbers two and three, Wayne

  • At least the clapping is on the right beat ( 2 and 4)

  • Excellent ! Rare footage of Beaumont Rag played by the masters

  • Tommy and Phil Emmanuel sound alot like them!

  • i disagree, those 2 are garbage compard to these guys

  • Absolutely - tommy and phil just go over the top and really butcher great songs,I saw phil playing with the band "America a few years ago and he turned it into the phil emanuel show playing LOUD telecaster over some of their great early accoustic songs it was FUCKEN awful - and Tommy is a filthy try hard...they are not fit to clean chet's boots with their tongues

  • chet said tommy was the best, better than him and most likely better than any to come along for a long time.

so i'll trust him over you thanks

  • Chet was such a nice humble man he said that about ALL the younger guys he played with like mark knofler etc etc etc.....but the truth is you are obviously a tasteless cretin who can't hear the difference between gratuitous pompous flash and real playing

  • the first to insult is the first insulted my friend.

i simply disagree, as do a lot of people. you have your own opinion, i contested it only because you had the attitude to actually insult a musician who clearly has come a long way and done a lot with his life.

  • @ryreinhardt i may sound a bit judgemental saying this, but you are a shortsighted douchebag. Tommy is utterly amazing even if he does overplay it sometimes, he just hears and plays things you just can't understand yet, on his planet it's funky... Phil is good but overplays more than even tommy in my opinion, however both are incredibly talented and certainly chet thought so or he would have made albums and played with them so long. Maybe Chet and I are cretins too...? naw, you're a Tool.

  • @nineveh420 Thanks !! tools are very useful ...separating man from animal...A guitar is a kind of tool .......unfortunately you're useless and part of the tasteless minions,

and I really don't care what you think ...keep banging away like a monkey on your guitar.....I'm sure smoke on the water is within your reach if you practise hard for the next 40 years..

  • @ryreinhardt you speak an incoherent teenage mess. Tools are usefull in the shed, not to talk too, we just want you back in the shed. Just thought I'd clear that up since you seemed confused.

If you didn't care what I thought why did you reply idiot? (hmmm tricky one, eh?)

I'm sure your next unthought reply should be most enlightenting. Keep banging away those senseless comments on your keyboard, maybe in 40 years you won't be a judgemental moron...however doubtfull that seems.

  • @ryreinhardt you make a lot of ridiculous assumptions - you have zero idea of my age or indeed anything about me - however there is no doubt though, that you're a just sycophantic grovelling fan - liked any boots lately?

  • @Agar101

chet said lenny breau was the greatest ever and django was the greatest ever and charlie byrd was the best........ and on and on it went chet was just tooo nice to all guitar players.....

  • A total fool, chet titled tommy CGP for a reason, enough said.

  • You must be kidding! They definitely don't play in the same league.

  • When were these videos originally recorded/broadcast? These are two of the best guitar pickers EVER!

  • I think it was about 1980. Interesting the lady, Toni Tennille, sang backing vocals on Pink Floyd's The Wall!

  • I agree, the best ever!

  • I thirst for more of Chet & Doc as a duo! Is there more of them laying around somewhere?

  • reflections the record

  • Great Pickin.

    Crappy clapping

  • @mrytb rofl!!!!

  • @mrytb They are always bad at clapping, it should be banned!

  • Man! What a duo,

    Mark Hill

  • Out of tune?

  • And thank you Toni Tenille for having them on YOUR show!

  • heaven's gonna be just like this !

  • Rare footage of Beaumont Rag played by the masters, thanks for posting it fo us all to see.

  • Excellent !
