correct me if I'm wrong but wasn't hot rodding and hot rods for the 'bad boys' of that time? it seems sort of strange to see a squeaky clean family like O&H endorsing hot rods and street racing, even if it is only to prove a silly point...
Those were great old shows but I agree, seems like the fathers on all the programs had so much time to spend with their kids on hobbies, sports, etc. as they were rarely at work, came home on time and never had to bring any work home. (Well maybe Mr Brady on occasion...LOL). That sure wasn't my father growing up in thw 60's though l always wished it was having watched these episodes during the time.
@buckeyeman61 I understand but we have to remember that this is a rather romanticized version of the fifties. I love the era but I know it had its problems as well.
tv shows we're just better back then. these reality shows today are for lamebrains.

I love that DeSoto

Poor Ozzie. His good ol' Model T just could not handle the speed and endurance of a hot rod. At least everyone involved in the race had a good time.

How could they have that nice house and all those wonderful things--when Ozzie never went to work?

Ozzie did work but the real Ozzie Nelson did not want to specify a particular occupation. He thought it might limit the role.
