  • That is one docile wolf. O.O I can just imagine it going like this: "Hey, mom! This big black wild wolf followed us home! Can we keep him?"

  • I understand the danger of the situation, since if he became too familiar with people he could get into some trouble with people who would really have a problem with his proximity.. but this just melts my heart :) He's not getting too excited, his play with the dogs isn't rough, and he generally keeps a respectful distance, so he's still being a wolf. That's a big step for a wolf to be so tolerant. With the right kinds of people, I think it's a dream come true. I hope you enjoyed the experience.

  • I almost had a heartattack several times in this video lol i can't imagine how i'd be in person, esp with my dogs they don't like other dogs, they'd be minced meat

  • This just shows how screwed up our society is and as for the comment below that says this is no big deal that wolves are killed all the time,,, people like you are killing this Country ! This was

something if your lucky will happen once in a life time. A beautiful animal is killed for what ? A few dollars for his pelt your a disgrace same as the scum who shot him. People like you are whats wrong with this country today and I just hope they got more than a slap on the wrist . RIP Romeo

  • @SirButtfuckingham, troll stop with your comments like that no one wants to hear them so shut the heck up

  • always wanted to know exactly how big was a dog big compared to a wolf wow!

  • Beautiful animal. And so placid and calm...

  • Some dumbass bitch killed him): that was like a year and a half ago.

  • Has anybody ever tried howling to him?

  • @SirButtfuckingham Go shove your dumb trolling comments where the sun doesn't shine.

  • @SirButtfuckingham Tosser.

  • @SirButtfuckingham if there's one thing this comment teaches me is that, people like you dont get laid.

  • Incredible.

  • what an awesome wolf. He's huge. Towers above those other dogs. I would love a pet wolf like that. Though I know he'd be happier in the wild. To the asshole who killed Romeo-- FUCK YOU AND DIE. Hope you read this. You are no better than the shit I drop in my outhouse.

  • wolf rug?

  • this inspired me, change the way i look at wolves now. i hope nature produce more wolves like romeo. :D

  • Romeo looks like Balto, as in the real life one.

  • Bless his beautiful wolf spirit. Romeo, you touched many hearts and will be greatly missed.

  • wow, look at all the self righteous people calling for the head of a hunter. They kill hundreds of wolves every year legally in Alaska and you guys are outraged because your stupid dogs can't play with him anymore. If you step on ants or swat mosquitoes you do the same thing as Mr. Peacock. The lack of common sense and reality is dumbfounding.

  • @kayddle What a completely irrelevant comparison. No, that is not the same thing. THAT is contributing to the process of natural selection. What Mr. Peacock did was outright poaching and if you condone his actions you are no better than him. Do yourself a favor and stop looking up wolf videos if your miserly brain can't handle the logistics.

  • @zombulance so Alaskans don't hunt hundreds of wolves a year legally (it is classified as big game.)? Whats the difference in the case of Romeo? A wolf is a wolf is a wolf. I love dogs and wolves, but to cry about it like a human being was killed is just ridiculous and shows your brain is about as evolved as one of these wolves.

  • @kayddle You're the one bitching like a little girl. Romeo was killed out of hunting season, which is exactly why Mr. Peacock was apprehended and incarcerated. He deserved every bit of it. I'm not crying over it, but it is a very unfortunate misdoing and could have been prevented. Also, insulting my intelligence- good one. How will I ever get over a stranger on the internet telling me i'm an idiot? Take your own advice and stop crying about it.

  • @zombulance WELL SAID, my friend, well said!!!!

  • Great video! That wolf is so beautiful. I went hiking there so many times and never once saw him in person. Probably for the better since my dog is very aggressive towards other canines. But I would have loved to see him before he was killed! Again, very cool video.

  • Sign a petition to prosecute the wolf and bear killers. Google "Prosecute the wolf and bear killers." Bring the poachers who killed Romeo to Justice

  • I am embarassed to say that I live an hr from Lebanon Pa where this Mr. Peacock is from that killed this beautiful animal...why did he do it? Are you allowed to hunt wolves in Alaska like people hunt bears and deer, etc. here in Pennsylvania? I am so sadden by this. When will we learn that killing for the sake of killing is what will destroy us.

  • Anyone up for poaching a Peacock, as in Jeffery Peacock, the killer from Lebanon PA.

  • Jeff Peacock of Lebanon PA. was just arrested for killing Romeo on Sept. 18th 2009. Park Myers of Juneau was also arrested for his role in the killing.

  • to lofter79, I feel sorry for you you need help. Romeo is beautiful and needs to be protected like all wolves do. And if he was starving and you were starving I'd feed the wolf first and you can have his leftovers if there was any.

  • he's dead skinned and stuffed.....get over it people.

  • No one seeing him this year. ADF&G figures he died of old age.

    Nice video.

  • Amazing!!

  • while i cant help but smile at this, he is a wild creature.

hes already grabbed 2 dogs and killed another one. the actions of these stupid people will surely get him shot.

  • WISH HE WAS MINE.

  • You lower 48 transient tards think this is a zoo up here??????????? Dumb asses letting their dogs around this wolf, shows how stupid some people are!

  • I have the perfect girl for Romeo. They look very much alike.

  • I've seen Romeo up close at the mendenhall river. very majestic creature.

  • my dogs used to play with romeo but we havent gotten near him since the aggression towards dogs. he used to be friendly

  • they should shoot the stupid people for letting their dogs getting so close to a wild animal and then bitching and whining when he takes their lil designer dog.

lets cleanse the gene pool a lil bit

  • @pokinsmot I agree.

  • HOW FAR WAWAY WERE U?

  • thanks for adding this on youtube. I've seen pics on google of Romeo but this is more close up and he is very pretty.

  • KTUU just did a piece on him with some nice pictures. They briefly mentioned the grey wolf he has been seen with but said it was elusive and the sex had not been determined. Hopefully it will be a Juliet.

  • if romeo wanted to, he coulda killed the dogs and the people in a matter of seconds! the wolf is fine, he's a part of the community! he's just curious and wants to get attention, he would of been terrorizing the whole town if he was a problem wolf, but apparently he's a pretty calm wolf and just wants to socialize with the local dogs and people but on the other hand he still is a wild animal and things could turn out to be a tragedy if someone or something crosses his line!

  • Can anyone tell me the website for "friends of Romeo"? Thanks

  • I've just reecently read about Romeo, the Black Wolf of Jueneau. I can see that it was he who made the approach towards your group. But I kinda thought that dogs shouldn't be allowed to play with him?

  • Excellent point. Him approaching us like that really took us by surprise. We weren't sure what to do so we called our dogs to us but at the same time we didn't want to run and encourage a chase. You can't tell from the video but we backed away slowly.

  • @dnclemans

    Bull shi'ite!

Maybe it wasn't you, but the word is all over the place that many people were feeding him.

I suggest you read Barry Lopez' 1986 classic: "Of Wolves and Men;" when wild critters and humans get too familiar it can only end in tears. The end of this affair was all too predictable.

  • @dnclemans: Its weird how the dogs didn't find him to be threatening. They just followed him around like "hey buddy wanna play?"

  • cool video, nice to see him roaming about
