@Soloso143 The dining room had a double wall. When you see the ship from the outside, you'll notice portholes that are paired in groups of two or three. That was the dining room windows, during the day they would let light in, but at night there was lightbulbs behind the windows.
@alttab7890 this footage is from an other scene, that scene is deleted, it's the scene where jack and lovejoy fight after hockley was shooting his gun empty at jack and rose
I remember watching the movie and seeing the part where the dishes fall out of the cabinet or whatever and thinking Dear God in Heaven where are they now? i heard some of them broke.
that's correct, the ship was one of the first to have "mood lighting"...the grand staircase dome had floodlights behind it at night...thats why you see them shut off and spark when the dome breaks and water surges in. The dining room had light boxes behind the windows to also make the room brighter, because it was on D deck, pretty low inside the ship.
They should have kept the Lovejoy scene, it would make much more sense in the continuity of the movie. We see the lovers running in the dinning room and right after it cuts to the entire room flooded in a metter of few seconds, and it also leaves the audience wondering why Lovejoy is all blooded later in the sinking.
@dodgedart74 Are you talking about how America fails and so by this you mean sinking into problems and failure ? If so I Agree!! Haha. Or if your talking about the actual ship titanic, then America has nothing to do with the real titanic other than it was travelling there. It is a British ship! :)
I really think that the scene where Jack and Lovejoy fight in the flooding dining saloon should've been kept in. I mean, I know they added a few shots of the room flooding in the final version, but it wasn't enough for me lol. I love how opulant the room is and it just slowly and creepily begins to sink.
@roosevelthighschool No. Parts of it were from deleted scenes, like the bit from 0:10 - 0:16, but this is just a collection of scenes where the dining room is flooding.
@roosevelthighschool some were. iv seen them myself, they have been preserved since nothing was on top of them to break them. they still shine and all the paint is there. its really breathtaking.

We just sailed on a cruise ship, onboard which the dining room was three stories and seated 3056 passengers at once. It was absolutely stunning!

The first class dining room windows and reception room windows had recessed lighting to make it look like there was always sunlight.
islamsucksallah 2 years ago 9
It's artificial light. Which means it isn't real. The light was made by lightbulbs on the ship so it was always bright and cheerful! :-P

The water never reached the engine room. The ship loses power right before it snaps in two.
