  • I LOVE YOU!

  • Rosmah, wife of Malaysian PM, actually said she deserves her award from Curtin. Now Curtin uni is being condemned by so many........

  • It's unfortunate that western society as a whole looks to explain this from an authoritative standpoint rather than self discovery

  • Around 36:00 he talks about digestive problems. I suffer quite severe digestive problems, mainly down to anxiety and stress. Although I don't agree with him calling a doctor stupid because he arranged the barium test at 3pm (I too didn't know they can't eat in the morning) I will try to eat my meals in peace, focusing on the meals rather than my tv/xbox.

  • @Mattyb2001uk the doctor is kinda stupid, since it was a Thai doctor and Thailand is considered a Buddhist country.

  • alcohol..big deal

  • im sorry i fell asleap at 1:12 well out of the 1:12 that i got i think he is goin to hell haha

  • @travisrodgers1 that's ur problem dudeee....!!

  • WOW. Awesome dude.

  • Ajahn Brahm I went to the local Tibetan Buddhist temple for Chezerig and White Tara this past Sun after listening to some your talks and Bhikunni Hapsanna (I chose the Tibetan because what she said Metta=happy glowing faces). It was THE most serene peaceful thing I have ever felt in my life! My 7 yr olf grandson who has Asperger's and ADD/ADHD prettty badly took one of their Buddha kids classes. He LOVED it. Thank You Ajahn Brahm:}

  • Even buddhism use fear like all other religions, If you do that you might born as worm in the pile shit.

  • He's really getting his dumber (dhamma) right. Not so smarty (samhadi).

  • I don't feel that I should be rewarded for something that comes natural to me.

I enjoy helping elderly people. It is not a great effort for me to help them in any way that I know how. In fact, I get lots of enjoyment from doing so. It would be an empty feeling for me to get a reward for something that I enjoy doing. Doing it is the reward itself.

  • @Mack9672 I LOVE HELPING OLD PEOPLE TOO

  • Respond to this video...I FEEL GOOD WHEN I CAN HELP PEOPLE

  • @debra2995 what you mean?

  • 16 people live in the shit pile

  • Comment removed

  • @debra2995 what does that mean?

  • @qbanvegas I THINK YOU NEED ABIG HUG FROM ME

  • Let's just say this is a course (or a life lesson) that I failed miserably...Not even capable of being positive here of all places hahaha.. ahh well, Though there are some of their teachings that are too flawed for the world we live in sadly.

  • I love Ajahn Brahms chats but I do appreciate the simplicity of Taoism for my own life as opposed to Buddhism although I love both philosophies. The one thing that confuses me though is that he mentions that if the monks would have accidentally gotten drunk by inadvertently eating cake with alcohol in it, then it wouldn't have been very good for their image? Is this not attachment to ego?

  • i love this man and ive only met one person who even slightly represents his kind of aura, and this lectures really made me realize how to live a better more peaceful life.

  • Visual processing is done in 27 different centers in the human brain.

That involves prior experiences , emotions about what one had about what one is

    seeing etc.

What this monk preaces has a euroscience basis.

  • 430+ people appreciate life

  • this guys cool but he egotrips a little bit... with the whole pride/positivity... because pride and positivity cant exist without self-depreciation and negativity. you cant cling to one side of the whole, its a cycle, you're either in it or not, in the same way if you choose to live a life based on pleasure you need to also experience pain. you cant have one without the other, unless you get out of the realm of the ego

  • damn this video is almost an hour

  • Ajahn Brahm 's gentle teachings have been immensely helpful in my life - thank you Ajahn , from the bottom of my heart <3

  • This man is the therapist I never had.

  • Its the Greed, Hatred and Selfishness of Self, the divination of I that is the problem of today's world.

GREED creates Corrupt practices, HATRED creates wars and blood shed, Selfishness creates misfortune to others.

  • What you want to practice is not a crazy religion, is not a world philosophy, it's just to understand what a man meant. This is the same problem with all religions, and all creeds, and everything that once had a leader. We forget about the meaning, and think only about the what.

"If you meet the Buddha, kill him." ~ Linji. Which means: You are your only master.

  • I used to be heavily addicted to drugs, didnt like other people especially myself, was never getting anything accomplished. Studying buddhism has opened my eyes to a brighter and marvelous world curing my depression, everyday i have been building a greater understanding towards others. I want to thank Ajahn Brahmfor's lectures being a part in my exciting transition towards enlightenment. If anyone has any links to some lectures I would love to hear from you.

  • @MoiDixMois01 His lecture titled, "Uncertainty" is pretty good. Another good video on this channel is titled, "Be here now" (different seaker).

  • @MoiDixMois01 I can relate cause I was in the same situation and buddhism really opened my eyes to this world.

  • @MoiDixMois01 Burt Harding is good too!!

  • @MoiDixMois01 Have you heard of Bashar or Abraham Hicks? They are getting me over 29 years of self induced massive depression, I forgot what happy was until I heard them.

  • @MoiDixMois01 I may The youtube channel, "daniapercy" has more videos of Ajahn Brahm. Also, there are several good talks on mindfulness by John Kabat Zin.

  • god bless all buddists.

  • Thanks very much for posting all these teachings . It is a peaceful talking , no arms twisting. I LOVE RELIGION THAT DOES'NT SAY BAD THINGS ABOUT OTHERS . I BELIEVE THAT , HEAVEN AND HELL ARE INSIDE US . *** THE MIND IS EVERYTHING . WHAT YOU THINK YOU BECOME ***

  • You remind me of that creature in Lord of the Rings. Smeagle

  • Thanks very much for posting this teaching. Good religion is the one, that brings wisdom, compassion, love and peace to mankind.

  • @khemaraktevak Good religion is practiced, not written. If practiced correctly, all the major religions would bring wisdom, compassion, Love, and peace to mankind. The problem isn't the religions, it's the dishonesty of many who claim to practice them, Buddhism included.

  • i was slowing things down without realizing that i was on the right track.... unaware of this video and teachings.... thank you so much.. i thought there was something (wrong/different) about me... but now that i know that THIS is what i'm supposed to be achieving i feel much better now... thank you for helping me

  • I love this i really love this... this is really.. whats all.. about. thank u a lo about Ur speech !!!!!

  • To all. There are treasures in all faiths, seek and you will find, then make them your own and give them away to others.

  • Buddhism is a religion, because it's contains beliefs and faith, but buddhism is a religion with philosophical approach to life with a deep concentration, wisdom and analyzing life in the way how it is.

  • @nzungu833 I think the science and philosophy behind Buddhism keep unchanged while religion varies in different countries.

  • @nzungu833 buddhism is only a religion in the latin original meaning of the word religio: seeking the ultimate reality. there is no faith in some transcendental god or no belief in after life!!! so, i have to disagree with you!!!

  • @frednolasco There are many different lingual interpretations of the word. 3 the biggest monotheistic religions such as Christanity, islam, judaizm are dogmatic, and no doubt about it that a philosophy itself is not dogmatic, and buddhism itslef is without any exception not a dogmatic religion/philosophy. For me buddhism is philosophy and that's why there are so many different schools which interpret the way to nirvana differently. So I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you.

  • @frednolasco Well God is in full control of the body that your own. God has made in such a way that you need to sleep eat and rink every day.

The only way for you to prove there is no God is to AT LEAST take charge of your own body.

Try being without sleep, food or water for a week and then what you say will make some sense!!

  • @alfulani5 The truth needs no defense, it just is the truth. Defending it is pointless. No matter what you believe.

  • @FreeKwinsie Well you are free to believe anything you want!!

  • @alfulani5 If god made us in his image then why are we imperfect?

  • @Toasty373 Where does God say he made us in his image?

  • it is true for some buddhist..buddhism is not a religion..

maybe u need to see which buddhism you're talking about..

if is theravada..then its for real..it doesnt feels like religion..

and why we need to claimed that as a bait and until you are hooked..

u wont be hooked on something if u dont like it at all eventhou the person influence ur brain and mind..thats the logic..

  • @superusi1 Exactly! Buddhists claim that Buddhism is not a religion, than use that claim as a bait, until you are hooked. Than it's usually too late...

  • @superusi1 ahh I see... well I can't disagree with you on that. I see what you're saying. My mistake. :)

(oh and sorry about all of the comments.. I was on a roll with my thinking process and I just wanted to get it all out in the comments, it was directed more to a general audience).

  • Last comment.. I really don't like calling Buddhism a religion because its more of a spiritual gathering rather than institution. Christianity, Judaism , and Islam (Abrahamic Religions) have sort of perverted the term "religion" into a sort of cult-like following where you must obey or pay the consequences of torture and death. Buddhism is NOTHING like that and is very spiritual etc. I know it IS a religion but I don't like using that term and it doesn't seem to fit with buddhism, paganism etc.

  • @superusi1 also if I had to choose a favorite of the religions that are present in the world today, Buddhism would be one of the top choices , if not, THE Top choice, because I love it so much. It is a gathering of knowledge of many people's experiences of life (wisdom) all inspired by Buddha (read about his life story.. we can all find we have similarities to him especially when he was growing up... minus the marriage thing :P). Wisdom is so sacred and so important I cannot say this enough.

  • @superusi1 I must say though that vonbiron doesn't want to see the world in a positive way. The only way to help another who cannot see is to let them find their way and see on their own. We cannot show them and we shouldn't worry. He'll find his way. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make them drink.

  • @superusi1 whats wrong with following no religion? I think its quite wise to follow no religion. This way you don't limit your knowledge or wisdom to that of a few teachers, but to ALL teachers and ALL knowledge and ALL wisdom you can. I love ajahn brahm and other buddhists alike, but I do not limit myself to that of only buddhists. This is why I cannot say I am buddhist and this is why I cannot say I am any religion because it is limiting to my self progress through life.

  • i wanna be a nun when i grow up, just because i want to live peacefully....

  • ... and than you say that Buddhism is not a religion.... oooooooooh my............ hahahahahahaaaaaaaaa......... what a.....

You get NEGATIVE about yourself and your culture, than dress funny and change your name, and come to us to tell us top see EVERYTHING around us POSITIVE.

  • Chanting and being happy is the only way to stop the evils in this world! What this man is talking about is more important that many will ever understand which is sad. I only hope that one day all of humanity will embrace love and positivity that these societies do as that is the only way to get our of this dark era.

  • great video but why does he keep bugging his eyes out, is he on a fast because he seems so exhausted.

  • @teapartie lol, I wondered that too. I was thinking maybe he had dry contact lenses, but then thought monks probably wouldn't bother with them, they'd just use glasses.

  • Much indebted to these talks! Thanks so much for allowing these discourses online!

  • Abraham Lincoln said; "People are about as happy as they make up their minds to be".

  • Jokes, loose rope... I know who this is! :P

  • knowing Buddhism is truly the greatest thing that has ever occurred to me =)

  • listen carefully at 7.13..i like when he relating buddhism with science..realy amazing..

  • Heck this dude is spot on. He just gets better. Practical, simple and useful.

    Many thanks.

  • great speaker. keeps things simple and has a sense of humour. loving kindness to you all.

  • Nice to know I can down-load these talks from your web sight to my mp3 player.

  • thankyou you couldnt guess how much this has helped

  • scribd (dot) com/nb812

  • Wondering if anyone else can see a connection between the angry eating demon gets bigger and bigger and focusing on two bad bricks and problems e.g. mental getting worse or not getting better.

  • Thank you Ajahn Brahm.

  • Nice, I love it! 0:)

  • too deep; didn't watch

  • @Menegoth You should its kinda boring the first 10 min then it gets really good and simple.

  • HEAPZ OF GRATITUDE...<3

  • I stumbled upon this talk very accidently and found it extramly interesing. How did I miss all those things he mentions?? Must see the rest!

  • + = :)

  • I met Ajahn Brahm at NYIMC and waited on line to speak with him. I was having trouble for months getting motivated to sit and wanted advice from him about it. I'm waiting for my turn patiently and I finally get my chance. So I say my piece and he says, "It's okay, don't worry about it." Classic :). Check out his book, Who Ordered This Truckload of Dung...

  • I watched the first 5 minutes to try and be positive and cheer myself up. I got bored and opened a bottle of Jack Daniels. Positive? No. Drunk? Yessssssssssssss

  • Fantastic serie of talks. Thank you for posting.

  • thank you so much. This is very helpful. We all need to find our inner vision .Lead and spread positive no matter how hard.

  • positive

  • Getting a medal for me would be like getting a dumb tee shirt from some tourist outlet or a flea market. I deserve more than that. A cold piece of steel doesn't give the support of loved ones when you need them so you can truly be grateful.

    Thank You.

  • lovely i thank you for this upload as well as your "DEALING WITH DIFFUCULT PEOPLE" upload keep them coming peace be upon you.

  • I am so grateful to you, Ajahn. I always turn to your talks when I want a bit of real beauty and funniness and real help on the way. I love you, and I thank you!

  • 26:30 racist too much? >.>

  • @rodoflight na positive side of it nd dosent seem remotly racist

  • @BluSUBsound there is nothing called racism ----i have seen dark girls more beautiful than white girls and more softer than white girls

  • @rodoflight buddhism cannot be racist-----buddha has always said do not believe in me------believe in the dhamma--------any buddhist cannot be buddhism

  • @jaymankiller Are you just being negative or do you actually have an intelligent opinion on this?

  • @jaymankiller

Ok maybe you are better than Ajahn Brahm with darmma talks but you really started on the wrong foot with your little out burst. lol

  • Ajahn Brahm's talks are amazing in every video he makes so many good truthful realizations of life. Whereas other monks go on about pretty much the same thing again and again in each of their subjects, but just because they dwell deeper into each point compared to Ajahn Brahm's doesnt make him a 'noob' it is up to us to take any realizations deeper if we want to. Ajahn Brahm's is an incredible kind man and for reasons that take too long to analyse is probably the best talker i have ever heard.

  • stop trollin, lol.

  • very enjoyable talks,,from Canada/Thailand.

  • This talk..............LOVE.

  • excellent video and a great talk. Thanks for sharing. I'll never look at worms the same again.

  • this video is fantastic thank you so much.

@thewilddivine mate i feel that the shit is just the worms home like a house is ours all animals are different and the outside influences make us think what is right and wrong, but we all know that is just how we have been brought up. Never the less it is a good metaphor.

  • good one

  • thank you so much for having these online... they are so great to have access to.

  • I loved this video. Thank you so much!!!!

Can anyone tell me how to be positive about war, hunger, crimes and NON- VEGETARIANISM (I mean killing of animals) that are abundant in the world??? I tend to worry about those a lot. Thinking about people around the world who are suffering makes me cry.

  • You can think positively about non-vegetarianism as simply as understanding that human are omnivors. We eat plants and animals. And understand that you have made a concious choice to NOT part-take in something YOU perceive as being wrong. And at the same time, you can tolerate that others do not share your opinion, and that you are a good person for being tolerant towards their choices...

  • change your focus to things that you love not dislike.

  • @pfan2064 even the same from my side but follow middle path of the buddha u will win the world

  • Really good video, learning about mental health at the moment, and learning about all addictions, psychosis which focus mainly on the negative. Think it's really interesting what Ajahn Brahm discusses on focusing on people's positive qualities.

  • This is the 2nd talk i see within the same day, great sharing, plan to view all Ajahn Brahm talks.

I am great to be here, hopefully will out from the dung pile soon.

  • Excellent comentry on understanding...

  • As a monk it is not about becoming something other; it is not about material progression; It's about becoming. Becoming is with you always, look to the present, this moment know!....

  • alfulani5

    you are very ignorant.

  • Yeah...real profound, kudos to you for your anonymous bashing of someone trying to help. That's the way to do it!

  • @magebaba brother buddhism is eternal --it will help u even more thousands of years as maitreya buddha has to come one or the other day--------may triple gem bless you

  • Hey get out of here! Ajahn Brahm is a virtuous monk. He is celibate. Don't talk about something that is forbidden here.

  • I LOL'D

  • lay people can become arahats

  • Why do so many people think that they can conserve life?

  • Why kdo you think so many people think as you?

  • i am a fan of Ajahn Bramavamso...he is so virtue! He is a good person ! He is like Dalai Lama ! I think he is the incarnation of bodhisatva or buddha? maybe..

    Buddhism is a good religion!

  • "alfulani5" is a crazy dude. problem is he hasn't had a decent education. don't worry about people like that. buddhists are better than muslims. way better. muslims know only one thing violence. but buddhists are all about love. so don't care about losers like "alfulani5".

    he is in hell already.

  • how dare you say that.

    every religion is beautiful

and filled with truth. I hope you change your viewpoints because the truth is

that muslims, christians, buddhists, it doesnt matter, they are all beautiful people working towards being a child of God and following his will.

  • why don't you scroll down see what your buddy "alfulani5" is saying about buddha and buddhism. go through other realated videos and see how insult nuddhism.

now don't talk to me go and tell your buddy to behave properly.

but for the records muslims are the most uncivilized people on earth.

  • There`s no god in Buddhism Theres only our teacher, Buddah

  • What do you mean when using the workd god?

  • @HOTTTjustinR0XXX buddha himself is god as was lord christ jesus read dhammapada u will understand

  • Hmm interesting I saw the video, they say god is not proven, now they ask where is heaven? I

  • who says there has to be some god in order for heavens to exist?

  • It was meant for an ignorant lost soul roaming on earth!

  • great.. i'd like translate in thai also

  • Sounds good to know. I thank you for your clear responses!

    Jana

  • A few days ago I heard the "every sperm is sacred"-song by Monty Python, in which they ridicule the Catholic Church. It made me wonder:

If a boy wanks, he actually kills quite a lot of sperms which could have become human beeings.

Would you see that as a bad deed?

This question might sound funny, but I mean it seriously!

Please answer me, what do you think?

    greetings from Germany,

    Jana

  • Buddhists have to observe 5 precepts

    1) Abstain from killing

    2) abstain from stealing

    3) abstain from sexual misconduct (except for married couple)

    4) abstain from lying

    5) abstain from intoxicated drink

In your example, he violates the 3rd precept. As they cover thought, words and actions.

  • Buddhism in a nutshell:

    Do Good

    Avoid Evil

    and purified the mind"

To attain enlightenment one has to eradicate Greed, Hatred and delusion. Greed can be in the form of lust. When one is lustful, one could not see the truth. Everything we see is in a distorted manner, we call that conventional truth. The Buddha says desire is no end to it unless we tame and train our mind to be a cultured person. Meditation is the way for us to tame our mind

  • Thank you for this small introduction. ;o)

However, you wouldn't regard a boy as a murderer simply because he wanks, would you?

    Greetings,

    Jana

  • 1) For killind to take place, an egg has to be fertilised and has conciousness. In this case, the boy is not regarded as a murderer as sperms are not regarded as living being in Buddhism.

    2) a)Killing out of ill-will, anger, hatred, jealousy which are intentional create heavy kamma

    b) Killing out of ignorance and unintentional killing create lesser degree of kamma.

  • A wet dream makes you worse than Hitler.

  • Comment removed

  • @HausNotruf buddhism tells think of presence-----and wanking is a natural process according to me-------if u do not do it then sperms are phagocytosed by the immune system that's what is told in medical sciences---and after all you need only one sperm to have baby born

  • Such a beautiful teaching, it was a blessing for me to be here today. Thank you!

  • Thank you, Venerable Ajahn Brahm. I will learn and practice dharma in daily life.

  • If there is no one in conltol and people are born again and again by random chance how can one be sure Buddah or anyone else who claims to have attained nirvana is not born again as an insect!

There are more than 800,000 life forms besides humans. And most of them are insects and micro organisms. Considering this the chances of one being born again as human is ONE IN 800,000!!

  • Alfulni5 If we carry on talking this way, maybe we will be reborn as insects. Who knows?

  • This rebirth thing has not been proven and doens't make any sense!

  • The god thing is not proven and the only thing that is proven is a Muslim can marry four wives!
