OMG this is so obvious. At the start he is standing in the rountine 45 degree levitation angle so he can do the simple one foot maouvre thats shown on other youtube videos. You know. Other musicians try to explain how to do this trick. They all do the "lift yourself up with one foot at an obscure angle so no one standing behond you can see you on your tiptoes." The other guys do it well, as long as you're looking at a 45 degree angle. David Blaine's method is quite different from theirs. Waaaay different.

Watch at the begining, he's at about 45degrees to them, he does the trick, and films the reaction... then he goes back to the studio, gets wired up, finds some clothes similar to what the spectators were wearing, and re-films it. Then he edits the real spectators and their reactions into his "film". It was on one of those "magicians exposed" shows... quite simple actually.
