I believe WCVB had HD before them. They even broadcast some local HD programs back in 1999, but didn't go full time HD until 2006 for their daily newsmagazine show, and 2007 for news.

I don't think there was much of an HD selection back then. I know about Chicago Hope and Everybody Loves Raymond started HD broadcasts in 1999, but I don't know what else.

@TVNewsRIHD I guessing they meant the only station in the NYC area to be broadcasting in HD at the time.

WRAL in 1996 beat WCBS in that punch for HDTV status. If Stuart Scott was still working at 'RAL, he would be like "Boo yah" New York!
