• her singing voice is different from her voice in the original movie

  • These were the only two characters in the feature film that had their voices dubbed over with other singers for the film.

  • He's trying so hard! Hold still Eliza!

  • Wow! Her voice is awful! :(

  • @9claudiajenssen this doesn't even sound like the original movie, I can't find one that does!!! It's like they did a lipsing thing... her words don't even match up with her mouth sometimes, too

  • If she could stand still for just a second he could of shown her…

  • But Eliza, how can't you be so heartless-You should marry Freddy, instead of Henry Higgins!

  • I love that his singing voice is Prince Phillip. <3

  • I love it better when Audrey uses her voice instead of the other one. When I say other one, I mean the over dub I guess, the one that isn't hers, excuese me I amd runk

  • it is so strange with her own voice

  • Do you recognize the guy? It is the one who played Sherlock Holmes? Who would say that Sherlock can sing? LOL

  • SIMPLY THE BEST!

  • Does any one else besides me realize that this is not the original ound recording? Audrey's voice is much lower and it doesn't really even sound like her.

  • @juliefredericks2

This is indeed not the original "sound" from the film, but still Audrey's voice, since she was dubbed by Marni Nixon in the film.

  • While it would have been nice for all of Hepburn's singing to have been left in, I particularly wish this song would have kept her voice. Eliza is furiously frustrated, like in "Just You Wait", and I don't think Marni Nixon's delicately perfect voice conveys that as well.

  • I think I realized I love this stuff more than almost anything "modern"..and I'm 16!

  • I love Freddy!!! </3

  • I wouldn't want a guy like Freddy. lols.

  • My 3 year old niece loves the music from this film and reinacts the 'I could have danced all night' scene.I cant believe the guy in this scene played Sherlock Holmes in the 80's.

  • I love this movie! This is one of my favorite scenes :)

  • Quit cock-teasing Jeremy Brett, you terrible woman!

  • Is this really Audrey singing?

  • @LaEspriella Yes, this is Audrey's actual singing. However, the producers realized that her singing was not strong enough, so they had Marni Nixon do her singing voice.

  • This is Audrey singing, but for the movie they had Marni Nixon do a dub for her singing. They have the Hepburn version in the behind the scenes of the disc and that's what this is.

  • If they ever remake this movie, I want Freddie to be played by Ewan McGregor.

    I love this song.

  • @homeschoolveggie I completely agree with you!! I love Ewan McGregor.

  • @homeschoolveggie oh my god. so perfect. i just realised.

  • All she has going for her in this is her looks.

  • Excellent, this is the original version where Audrey Hepburn sings herself. Very good, thanks!

  • this isn't her singing...

  • show me rape

  • 9 people didn't show Eliza

  • wow i love audrey but check out julie on this song.. from the ed sullivan show.. julie show her acting chops.. she is absolutely amazing..

  • I have a feeling that this was one of the songs that wasn't dubbed because she sounds how she sounds in Breakfast at Tiffanys and Funny Face (both movies where she actually sung). I agree that her voice is kind of...amusing in a bad way. But I think she was a great actress...espceially if you watch her films The Children's Hour, The Nun's Story, and Wait until Dark. I like Emma Thompson, too, but I think she's being a dildo when she criticizes Audrey . Team Audrey!

  • @brigirl89 it was dumbed, but this is the original version, you can find it in the anniversary edition

  • @brigirl89 This is NOT from the final released film. In the final released film of MY FAIR LADY, they wisely

re-did her voice for this song using soprano MARNI NIXON.

The only time Audrey Hepburn truly sings in My Fair Lady is in the lower note portions of "Just You Wait" which is

    mostly talk-singing.

  • i love this song cause audrey shows wat we girls always wanted to say to a boy

  • So, Sherlock Holmes is hitting on Holly Golightly. Wow.

  • Jeremy Brett was such a good-looking young chap!

  • I have a boyfriend like Freddy! :) Finally ... :)

  • Show me some talent Audrey: Your singing and acting in this scene are appalling!!! Because of your awful performance Emma Thomson wants to remake the movie. This is what she had to say: "I find Audrey Hepburn fantastically twee. She can't sing and she can't really act, I'm afraid. I'm sure she was a delightful woman - and perhaps if I had known her I would have enjoyed her acting more, but I don't and I didn't, so that's all there is to it, really."

  • @EnniThomas Audrey's voice was dubbed for this movie. I don't think she used her actual voice for most of the film

  • @94RockerChick Of course she was dubbed (and thank heavens for Marni Nixon!) but she initially lobbied to have her own voice used in the film (could she be that deluded?) and unfortunately her acting in the film is truly bad. Not only she is never beliavable but every aspect of her performance (accent, manners, motivations, understanding of the character, etc.) is wrong, sloppy and at best superficial. Compare her acting in Wouldn't it it Be Loverly with the TV clip of Julie Andrews acting it.

  • Aww Freddie's so cute. But he's really obsessed. >.< But so cute!

  • What bugs me about this movie, as opposed to the book, is how hypocritical eliza is.

In the 'Show Me' song she sings about wanting a man to show her how he feels, not tell her. There's freddy listening to everything she wants and he gives it to her!

In the book they get together in the end, unlike here with Higgins and her.

Everytime freddy trys to kiss her or hold her in the 'Show me' song, she backs off.

It's more natural for her and freddy to be together, not higgins who's a cold person.

  • @FunnyMsFace I wanna read the book now....:)

  • Is this the version without her voice being dubbed?

  • @JadotheShadow This is the un-dubbed version, and after hearing it I have to say, "Thank G-d for Marni Nixon!" Because she could not deal with this score. However thank G-d for Audrey Hepburn for sparing us Julie Andrews poor Cockney accent in this Picture. Julie Andrews was phenomenal in every way except for putting on a Cockney accent.

  • @radiantguitar I still love them both. They were both great actresses and incredibly beautiful ladies, who had both poise and grace in every role. I wish more of our modern day actresses were like this.

  • 1:17 XD

  • 9 people could not show her

  • that was bad, im sorry, didn't like it, not for me

  • i think she has anger issues!!! lol :P

  • of course wincipoet!! I'm watching the series now; last sunday I watch de first episode of "The Return of Sherlock Holmes", and he was amazingly atractive!!!! :)

  • She's great, but no where near as mesmerizingly amazing as Julie Andrews is when she does this song!

  • The audio is wrong....she's flat and the diction is wrong.

  • I LOVE YOU FREDDY!!

  • I LOVE YOU FREDDY

  • I love this man, really. I fell in love with him watching Sherlock Holmes, because he has such a strong personality, and beautiful eyes!! But when I realised that he was "Freddy" in "My Fair Lady" I get shocked: He was so wonderfuly handsome when he was young!!!! And, of course, he's the best Sherlock Holmes ever! I'm just a bit dissapointed that it's not his voice in the film... I would have liked to hear his voice singing...

  • @irenealti Jeremy Brett looked handsome as Holmes as well :) more mature ;)

  • The late Mr. Brett didn't sing Freddy's part. Accordin to a letter in PARADE magazine years ago, Bill Shirley did.

Isn't it hard to listen to the nephew in the Lionel Barrymore version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL without thinking of Brett[--especially since the character's name is Fred?

  • for someone who really doesn't want to hear another word is sure saying alot of them :)

  • that is audrey's voice, but it's not the one they used in the movie. audrey was told her own voice would be used for the majority of the singing and would only be dubbed over here and there. so she spent months in voice lessons preparing for the role. then they tricked her and barely left her voice in the movie at all. in "i could have danced all night" there is one line that is audrey's voice. it is "sleep, sleep, i couldn't sleep tonight." but i wonder if "just you wait" song isn't her.

  • @thedriscol10 Audrey did actually sing during the harsh-toned chorus of "Just You Wait." Marni Nixon sang the bridge part of it.

  • It this really Miss Hepburn's voice? It doesn't sound so in comparison with her voice from other original recordings, especially after approximately 1:00. The way the singer pronounces "sh" in "show" is not even a sound existing in the RP English, it's too tough.

  • @klaudiuszvinicius No, they used someone else for both Jeremy and Audrey. It sucks really. :(

  • @klaudiuszvinicius Oh wait, I think I was wrong about her....this might actually be her singing....

  • @Lyrictheac What I mean, this is not the voice used in the film, but I'm not convinced it's Miss Hepburn's real voice, it sounds quite different.

  • @klaudiuszvinicius It might be...I'm not entirely sure.

  • Mr.Holmes is a dream.

  • aww...poor Freddy. I have to love him.

  • I LOVE this part!

  • I like her real singing voice. It sounds a little rough but Eliza was rough. It fits the character. Plus I can sing this one, unlike the first where I have to shriek I it to sound hit the note

  • Freddie is so pathetic, but it's cute at the same time. He's like a big teddy bear!

  • This is Audrey's actual singing not the dubbed version the film actually used, which is why the singing is only passable.

  • Freddy is the sweetest ;D

  • this is weird...this is a different track than the movie.. O.o

    Huh

  • audrey needs 2 work on her singing : /

at least she is way better than me - .-

  • I would marry Freddie! I love him. Why can't guys like him exist now? ♥

  • 1:20 = the best scene.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm just so glad Audrey's tracks still exist. so lovably sweet and real. I would remaster the film with her own voice. Who needs retro overproduced dubs from Hollywood? Put the dubs on the dvd extra features for those who prefer that. This was almost 50 years ago, when Hollywood was already doing the sham, taking good stage productions and slaying the moment. I think it was a slight to one of our finest screen stars. Long live Audrey Hepburn and who will remember the others anyway? well, not me

  • sure Audrey's voice isn't polished or anything, hut the whole point of her character was that she didn't sound good, which is why we have a story. i think i would have still enjoyed the film with or without her real voice

  • I would like to have a boyfriend like freddy ! ♥ (=

  • @SuperSuperfairy why????

  • @wntw319 he is something special he would dou everything for eliza ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @SuperSuperfairy no, he wouldnt, otherwise he would have done it by now and thats the point. anyone can promise the world, someone special would have delivered it.

  • @somebodysjerry but HE is the one who says what he feels Prof. Higgins not ;) that males him wonderfull !

  • @SuperSuperfairy they dont exist

  • @sweeney60 fantasy ruiner!!!!! lol!!

  • @BlueDiamondDan101 it had to be done

  • @sweeney60 are you sure ;) there could be one ;) who thought 100 years ago that america would became a black president ;)

  • @SuperSuperfairy No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @sweeney60 :D

  • The Marni Nixon dubbed version is 100x better. Audrey never realy could sing well, but she was a gamer.

  • Nice to hear Audrey's voice and not Marni Nixon's voice over!

  • I feel Liza

  • haha ive been meaning to watch Brett's portrayals of Holmes but i have to say Basil Rathebone does an amazing job. He's the best i've seen, and I'm a HUGE Holmes fan. but ill take ur word on it and watch Brett just so i can prove that Basil Rathebone is bettter :P lol

  • God, I love Audrey! So beautiful; a fabulous entertainer!

  • I don't think men realize it but this is what we want most of the time hahahah ;)

  • @alga1994 I'd rather have someone to clean the kitchen and bathroom floor, myself. Fortunately my other half does, no reminders needed.

  • Of the three I like Andrews best but I feel Hepburn gets the character better then Nixon.

  • Audrey unfortunatley did not have the strength to sing this song. I can see why her singing was dubbed.

  • this is the first video i have commented on and i am appalled at seeing the awful comments on this video. if you have nothing good to say than dont say it. or say it to yourself. this world doesnt need the daring of another cyber bully. this movie was put on youtube for the enjoyment of those who want to watch it. if all you want to do is put hateful things on the comment section then maybe you should make a video about it to fill the enjoyment of haters, bullies, and down right mean people.

  • Where did you find an unedited version of this? In terms of singing voices I mean...

  • I adore Freddy! He's in the film for like 10 minutes, but he is just so adorable, I love the way he calls her darling all the time in his charming English accent.

  • What a shame that Sir Jeremy was dubbed. He COULD sing. Very well.

  • @syrka2000 wait... He was too? That just broke my heart a little bit.

  • i dont know why people keep tellling this would be audrey. its not who know her knows that. this versio is not as nice i would go as far as this version is awfull. orginal sound was .. well the orginal

  • the fence XDXD the fence is love.

such a klutz. he plays the part so well!!! i think i have fallen more in love :D is that even possible? (yes, i ignored audrey hepburn through the whole clip. shoot me.)

  • @allyndeimos you are not alone lol!

  • I guess Mr. Holmes just decides to burst out into song when Watson isn't around...

    ;)

RIP Jeremy Brett--the greatest portrayer of the Greatest Detective EVER!

  • @obiwanobiwan13

He'd like Watson to think that he's never been in love. ;)

  • @obiwanobiwan13 OHHHHHHHHHH! BURN! NICE ONE! :)

  • Is it just me or does the new Sherlock (the BBC one not the 2009 one) bear some resemblance to young Jeremy. I dunno some of the features I guess.

  • @Adlea13 you are not alone...he does look like him...X3

  • i know julie andrews can sing better than audrey, but i just love her different and beautiful voice.

  • @turnitcolorful It isn't Audrey's voice, hahaha.

  • @potatoelolidk yea i know. did i say that? ha

  • @potatoelolidk how do you know that, you fagg shit ?

  • @potatoelolidk it's actually the only song in the movie sung by her. So yes, it's her voice

  • julie andrews can sing this song much better :)

  • @crystalclearelena but julie andrews is no audrey hepburn :)

  • I love this song. I love Audrey. I don't care who sang what, I love this movie.

  • ohh horrible.. why didn't julie andrews got the role! -.-'

  • @oOLadyArielleOo Hepburn actually insisted that the studios cast Julie instead of her, but the studios didn't want to cast an unknown at the time.

From a production perspective, it makes sense, but it was still cruddy to Andrews.

  • @Sshelly34213 Jack Warner didn't want Rex Harrison because he thought the bald murderer was too old. He tried to cast Peter O'Toole instead but he was playing Hamlet at the National.

  • @JuanMacready I also deeply resent you saying the Higgins had Asperger's Syndrome. I have Asperger's Syndrome, and trust me, I don't act like THAT. Are you saying that anybody who acts rude, obsessive, and unemotional must have Asperger's? (If that were the case I'd say you have it, but I don't want to associate you with myself.) Higgins is just an arrogant, lonely misanthrope. No more, no less.

  • @Imverycute2 Higgins was a closet homosexual with high-functioning autism.

  • @JuanMacready Let me ask you this: does it really matter all that much whether some people were cast that you felt were bad picks? There are still people that are going to like a movie even despite anything you might have to say about it.

Thus, this piece of advice: If you don't like a movie because of a few casting choices, then DON'T FUCKING WATCH IT!. Also, LET THE REST OF US ENJOY IT IN PEACE! You'll improve the quality of all human life by doing so.

    Prick.

  • @Sshelly34213 If Julie did this film, she may not have gotten the chance to star in "Mary Poppins." So maybe it's better she was not casted as Eliza in this film.

  • @entertainer1987 I'm rather glad that she did Mary Poppins instead, I couldn't have imagined anyone else in the role. I'm also glad because it separates this film from being "another Julie Andrews" musical from the 60s. It has its own separate identity and atmosphere.

I also just think Audrey Hepburn was a good choice in general, she still looked very youthful well into her 30s, she could pull off 22 here.

  • @entertainer1987 There's no such word as "casted". Did you make a typing error by mistake?

  • No, it wasn't a typo. A lot of people don't really understand proper english, even though they speak it. Most would say "Casted" but Cast is the proper choice.

  • Marni Nixon - watch?v=eWtjLCvNelg

So, yeah, not her in this one.

  • That's Audrey singing.

  • This isn't the final version that was in the film, which was with Marni Nixon's voice. This is the as originally shot version found in the extra goodies on the DVD. Just FYI.

  • It makes me sad that Julie Andrews didn't get this role.

  • I think this is one of the only songs of the film where they used audrey's actual voice.

  • @HoneyMurray95 Voices were dubbed a great of the time during those days.

Bill Shirley did the vocals for Jeremy Brett, I think it's stupid considering that Brett's voice was perfectly decent.

  • @Sshelly34213 Brett couldn't sing for shit, and he was a homosexual NUTTER.

Mccarthyite Republican kike Jack Warner was a fucking idiot to cast the overage talentless non-singer Hepburn instead of Dame Julie Andrews.

  • @JuanMacready He had bipolar disorder, he wasn't a "nutter." There's nothing wrong with that.

Who are you to talk considering that you come off as someone who has a split personality and OCD. Excessively repeating yourself is very symptomatic of OCD, excessively changing the subject after only a sentence is also very symptomatic.

Julie Andrews was doing Mary Poppins at the time, she was tied up. You can't blame Hepburn for that. She simply took a role she was offered.

  • @Sshelly34213 The homosexual Brett was a NUTTER actually, he was locked away in a looney bin several times.

Walt Disney had offered to selay filming on Mary Poppins if Dame Julie was cast as Eliza. Hepburn was far too old for the part, couldn't sing for shit and wasn't at all believable.

  • @JuanMacready You said that twice...again symptomatic of OCD.

I really see no point in talking to someone who can't have a proper discussion.

And the director did NOT want Julie Andrews for the role. Why can't you just accept that and move on with your day? Don't you have things to do with your life rather than obsessively post on this board? Your 16 and should be out enjoying life. Don't coop yourself in and rant about movies all day. Really it's a waste of time.

  • @Sshelly34213 No, it was the producer who didn't want Julie. Sir Cecil Beaton and Alan Jay Lerner both wanted her.

  • @JuanMacready So?

It's not the end of the world, Julie Andrews did not lose anything because of that. She was nominated for an Oscar for Mary Poppins, she went on to become a successful singer and actress. There is absolutely no need to make the intense fuss you're making on these boards.

Stop whining like a baby, you have nothing to bitch about. You're just annoying people on this board. Not only that, but you're creeping us out. Get some medical help. That's it, we're done talking.

  • @JuanMacready 8 Oscars is not fucking up a movie. Now go away you creepy person.

  • @Sshelly34213 This fucking awful film only "won" 8 Oscars because kike boy Warner outspent everybody else on advertising. Dr Strangelove deserved all the awards. The bald murderer Rex Harrison was awful as Higgins, he was far too old for the part, overacted all the time and couldn't sing. Peter O'Toole would have been far better. Leslie Howard was much better, and closer to the right age. Daniel Craig would be much better in the remake.

  • @JuanMacready Stop replying to me.

Why did Dr Strangelove deserve all of those awards? Your opinion is just an opinion, there's no cinematic analysis or thought that went into your opinion. You don't even know the first thing about directing, acting, cinematography, mise en scene, scriptwriting. Tell me how do you write a good script? How do you film a scene properly? I want a scholarly analysis with textbook information.

  • @JuanMacready See, you don't know what the fuck you're talking about little boy. Go and play with your friends. Does mommy know you're on the computer right now? Do you say these things in front of mommy? She'd be awful upset if she heard you. Make sure you get to bed early tonight so you can get to school in the morning.

God what a waste of my time. I'm not going to listen to some moron who has no understanding of cinema. I bet you haven't even seen Dr Strangelove.

  • @JuanMacready Your statement that "you were glad that Audrey went blind before she died of cancer" is very uncharitable towards a person who did a lot for underprivileged children.

  • @JuanMacready Can I ask you something? I know you can't reply to me because I've blocked you (for obvious reasons), but I still want to know. Why do you hate everybody? Why do you feel the need to say such horrible things to and about everybody? The things you say are so full of hate that don't make any sense at all, and I'd just like to get a peek inside your head to see what makes you say these things.

  • @JuanMacready oh that's nice! *sarcasm

  • @JuanMacready No goodbye and leave me along little boy, I don't particularly like children.

  • @JuanMacready You are awesome!!! Thank you for tearing down those bigots!!! Do these idiots have no lives that they have to watch things they don't like and feel they have to comment them??? And are they seriously in 3rd grade??? Only middle school kids bring others down to make them feel better. I think they are jealous that they can't get laid.....by even a blow up doll. GROW UP ASS holes!!!

  • @synchoswim I'm just warning you because Juan Macready will follow you everywhere if you even reply to him...seriously it took me months to get rid of that troll and only because I threatened to call the police for stalking...

He's definitely not right in the head.

  • @JuanMacready You keep stating Higgins being a homosexual or autistic as if it's supposed to downgrade the film. That's bigotry.

I can guarantee that you've never met a homosexual, nor someone with Asperger's syndrome.

I don't talk to bigots so stop replying to me or I'm going to contact that administrators of this board.

  • @Sshelly34213 you should. that guy keeps putting up horrible comments on all these videos! I already did.

  • @bubblebath934 Hey I do it every time I come to these videos.

  • @Sshelly34213 Dego wop.

  • @JuanMacready I'd like to leave you with this: Please seek medical help.

  • Oh I Love this Musical! Don't you wish more guys were like Freddy, He's so persistant, He knows he wants her and he's gonna go for her!!!

I dunno it just seems like girls have to all the work these days. Probably explains a lot in my life, hahaha.

  • I liked Eliza with Freddy more. (unpopular opinion, i know)

  • @94Phillies I'm totally on bord there! How can she resist that face??? :S

  • I LOVE Jeremy Brett in this Movie. He Was SOOOO Hot!!

  • lovelovelove :D im singing this song this faaaallll! yay!

  • this is another voice then used on the dvd.. in the movie you hear marni nixon this is obviously audrey hepburn.. funny to hear her voice in this song too..

  • Emma Thompson, who is making a remake with Carey Mulligan as Eliza says "I find Audrey Hepburn fantastically twee.Twee is whimsy without wit. It's mimsy-mumsy sweetness without any kind of wit. I don't do Audrey Hepburn.I think that she's a guy thing." ......hmmm......I strongly disagree.
