Agreed. I joined when i was 8 and left when I was 14 (had breaks) I didn't get my black belt. I was around high green (but trained with black and brown). So the process is very long and you need to be dedicated. Some people, like me, didn't recieve their black belts. I am 16 now. I hope to go back for it. But yeah, people with black belts are well known with their self defense and are respected, especially if they're young.
I went to tiger for almost 2 yrs. Its a mcdojo. I left because they constantly wanted a new contract and demanded more money. There kickboxing is okay but grappling is a joke. I joined a bjj club. In tiger i was one of top grapplers and now i get my ass kicked. There not doing real martial arts. My instructor former blackbelt and now bjj purple belt agreed as well. He left because Tiger became corrupt. There fighters only do well because they train somewhere else.
They even say it depends on how many classes you take. They only care about the money. My instructer former tsk blackbelt and now bjj purple belt says Tiger is all buisness. I went there. Tiger Schulman's isn't real martial arts. I actually go to a REAL japanese dojo which teaches the REAL stuff, and not pussy crap like this. Belts are measured with stripes, not how many classes you go to.

well ive been looking for wins at naga for a while from tiger. I see they mention naga on their site and claim to have the best childrens classes. I dont recall their children winning. last naga events ive been to and noticed children, guerrero bjj and jerry jones had winning children not tiger. I didnt actually see any of the tiger kids there myself so if they were there they werent around long. but as I said im glad they do mma now and I hope they will be more honest about their achievments.

Just remember; these schools are subsidized by the large amounts of kids who enter into 2-4 year contracts, which keep our adult prices lower than what it should be. Every school will always have a few diamonds amongst a large pile of dung. We have a pure adult TKD class 3X/wk and with no one under 18 allowed so we get to really beat the snot out of each other and not feel guilty. That's the way it should be.

Any martial art can help you from being attacked. Im in taekwondo, we usually spar, then practice our forms, then we either do target drills or self defense. There is no best martial art. Each one has its own stuff.
the primary styles of any mashall art are superior to any street thug. Styles may change and intragate with classic and non traditional forms like Bruce Lee, But knowing something is better then screaming like the prom queen on rape night,.But the best defence i have always found was common sense, why go there.,

This commercial is impressive, but I fail to see how doing a back flip and landing with your hands on your chin is going to help you in a fight. As a member of United Studios of Self Defense, I would kich that kid's head right into his fists if he did that. Nevertheless, it is a martial arts studio, and it has my respect.
I practice TSK for awhile and I like how it is physically intensive, casual, and fun. But I would really love to see TSK vs. another style of martial arts like Tae Kwon Do or Okinawan Karate. Winning or losing doesn't matter, I just like to see it.
