In the actual novel of this game, it took Ezio all of the oil from the greek fire cannon to set three ships on fire, and only one of them was completely ablaze. Games always like to exaggerate things a little. :P

hehehe wait until you do the later ones of Desmond's memories, areas where blocks move one way while you have to go up and down without touching that bluey/black stuff and other areas where you can't put blocks and lasers that make your blocks disappear, I spent a lot of time just falling and placing blocks directly below me and going forwards with no idea what I was doing lol, so have fun with those =P but the Desmond bit is the weirdest bit of the game, looking forward to seeing you do them
