  • great vid very enjoyable .and good sounds if you were to buy the smaller keyboard say eg the dark star with less keys would u still be able to play all these tracks for eg , i really dont want a massive keyboard but at the same time dont wanna be limited cheers .. hope u can help. alphaville was the best by the way thumbs up.

  • please dont use such a synth for that crappy sounds and music! and of course...it dont sounds like the original sounds you try to copy

  • @HELLSPAWN1973 Is that a criticism of the synth or 80s music?

  • Pair of sock..what part of the virus sound has become cliched do you not undertand?

The virus is the ultimate chameleon synth...it can emulate a lot of old analogs, but is much more powerful, too... it has its own sound too and it is THAT sound that is being overused of late. Specifically, the hyper saw and the comb filters...if you own and use a Virus, you know what I am referring to. The Hyper Saw is used on just about every mainstream trance track out there to the point of add nausea.

  • The virus is such a nice synth...I own one too, but the problem with it, is no one programs it...they just use presets and...I mean, every trance song uses it to cliched effect...it has an unmistakable sound and that is NOT a good thing being that we used to make electronic music in order to create something different and now, due to the popularity of the 'virus' sound, much of dance music, all sound the same, sadly...there needs to be more programming of the virus, in depth..

  • Compliments! I'm looking for a synthesizer like this one.

  • sounds reallly good

  • It would be very helpful to see a list of the presets you used.

Some are hard to find among the thousands of Virus patches availabe.

    Any chance?

  • this made me need to go back and listen to alphaville !

  • @mrbouncelol and put on your eyeliner, too :)

  • not bad at all, but it all sounds like the trancy version of the original. No authentic sound or feeling.

  • @Keybern cause its not analog

  • @PairoftheSocks weak excuse, I've heard some magnificent analogish sounds on digital synths before. I'm not saying the Virus sucks, only that the type of sounds in this video could have been programmed better.

  • @Keybern There is actual music out there that needs cold digital sounds. Shit like psytrance. I wouldn't want an old analog synth while making tight, cold, psytrance.

  • @PairoftheSocks maybe, but this video is all about retro synthpop, which makes your comment completely off-topic.

And learn to read, I didn't say the Virus was bad.

  • Comment removed

  • @PairoftheSocks go off-topic'ing somewhere else, idiot.

  • @Keybern Dude, your an asshole. Read the vids description, its not trying to direcly replicate anything, and I'm just saying its not easy to do because its not an analog synth. Then you said that it was a week excuse, then I said that some synths are better used for cold stuff. If that is such a big deal, you can leave youtube all together because there are no rules here. DEAL WITH IT

  • @PairoftheSocks boehoehooeehoeee. Ooohhh nooo, I feel so terribly bad now that you've called me an asshole. Booeehooeeehooooeeeeeeeeee... wheeeiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

I guess you must be as cold as the Virus ;-)

  • @PairoftheSocks huh?

  • @Keybern of course it isn't going to sound like the originals, what did you expect?

Exact Pro one emulation, Exact Oberheim emulation. Exact Solid State Logic console emulation. Exact Lexicon reverb emulation? Exact need I go on? How long have you been making music?

  • Good work for sound programming but sorry

I prefer hot sounds and dynamics of analog synths.

  • @ebmpowa what part of he used the presets on the virus did you not read? He stated he used the factory presets so obviously NO "sound programming" was involved? Do you numbskulls read or what?

  • This is just brilliant!

  • I wonder which patched you used or if you made em :3

  • @BlackGnosis all preset sounds on this demo.

  • Very nice! Does this unit have a built in sequencer or do you have to use an external device?

  • @theaxmanzone you have to use an external device with it,i use the korg m50s sequencer.

  • Gratulations for such a synth! Great sound.

  • Any chance we can hear the full versions of these songs please?

  • @GanEdenAustralia Hi .Yes i will do full versions soon.

  • @Synthsound1 cool

  • I have to say that I'm quite impressed by the chorus of the Virus !

  • Not bad, the songs are recognizable. But they clearly lack the punch and roughness from the originals.

They also all sound like trance versions, even when not intended to do so. For making 80s pop I wouldn't trade my Jx8p for a Virus TI, that's for sure.

Anyway, keep up the good work because you play very well and you seem to know something about sound synthesis ! Cheers !

  • BRILLIANT!!

  • @sloo7047 Thanks.

  • this sounds like crap

  • well perfomed! ;D

  • Can you make a video where you play "Big In Japan" from the beginning to the end? Please. The short piece in this video is perfect!

  • @AspleniumHexe Hi.Yes i will do a full version.

  • @Synthsound1 Oh dear how wonderful! Thanks!

  • @AspleniumHexe Cheers.

  • that bluemonday is weak :\

  • @DemonWTF Well when you cosider the original had glorious sounding analog synths, and recording studio engineers,i suppose mine is far inferior, but then again im one man no studio etc.

  • @Synthsound1 I guess it's not that bad....

  • You know, the pad in the electric dreams part, sounds like part of OMD's Maid of Orleans.

  • @wolfiedmx Well its actually very simlar to the old synths due t the fact ithas loads of tweak knobs on the panel,so its far easier than synth that you have to go through page menus to change sounds etc.I believe the TI2 has a bit more polyphony than my desktop TI ,but i can live without the extra cause i have a Snow as well.

  • @wolfiedmx Cheers.Hahaha dont get caught when you rob it.

  • Great demo. I really want to get one of these keyboards. Is there much difference between this and the Polar ?

  • @STEVEL361 Thanks. No difference other than the polar is a nice looking white keyboard version,i have the desktop synth no keys but i dont need keys i use my korg to trigger the sounds.i believe there is a new virus ti 2 out now with a bit more polophony and a few other extras ,but i also have a virus snow so i can live without it.

  • great demos/covers found this very interesting ...cheers

  • @stuckelectric Thanks.I like trawling round youtube watching synth demos.so thought id knock one out myself.

  • I wish I could get the TI...All those analogue sounds plus the luxury of using it as a plug in. The TI does every thing imaginable!

  • @NickDrake101 Its a great synth for electro sounds, but not acoustic thats why i bought the Korg m50 it has great pianos string woodwind etc.Ive never used the plug in option ,cause has you know im not big on computer music. But it looks great and you can use the Ti just like a plug in or alongside your running plugins. The korg M50 also can be used as a plugin ,and would make editing new sounds far easier than having to go through loads of onboard screens.
