Just straight rhyming. Only person dropping stuff like this these days is Joell Ortiz. This is the first album I knew every word to. I was 12 when this came out. I had a dub of. I had to put my uncle's radio next to mine to record it and you could hear me rapping every song in the background.

Shan does acknowledge it as a subliminal dis, but says he called out cats by name, so that "spectators" didn't have to wonder who he was referencing. But that's all he said; he didn't expand on it. Shan actually gave himself way too much credit for the hip-hop movement in the interview. Anyway, much respect due, Jasofly32!
