  • i dont like most rap but i have always liked this one and the album i still prefer rush best rock band ever geddylee even raps on roll the bones!~

  • Just straight rhyming. Only person dropping stuff like this these days is Joell Ortiz. This is the first album I knew every word to. I was 12 when this came out. I had a dub of. I had to put my uncle's radio next to mine to record it and you could hear me rapping every song in the background.

    Love this album

  • Anyone who hates LL must think Drake Wayne and Kanye are amazing lyricists. Now thats laughable.

  • i wasnt even born when this was made. but im glad i found ll cool j, cuz i hate this new shit.

  • Rated X born to snap necks....

  • @MrJasonhenry7 flygirls desire the man you admire!

  • This is lyrical shit right here. I always think of this song when i hear Joell Ortiz go hard on a beat for 5 to 6 minutes.

  • one of the greatest lyrical pieces of all time. listen and learn the biz and the hip hop game. lead you away from drugs and petty crime, lead you away from wack beats and rhymes lead you to that ticket line so you can come to my show and watch the star shine!!!!! helll yeaaaahhh!!!! thats hip hop!!!

  • one of the greatest lyrical pieces of all time. listen and learn the biz and the hip hop game.

  • lyrical masterpiece and great flow why they dont do that anyomore?...

  • Waaay before autotune, overdone samples and Lil Wayne, there was the great LL and this song still go hard, he smashed the heck out of Shan this song proves that he won the battle, Shan knew he was no match for LL!!

  • 2nites da nite we gone c da big fight 12 gauge on da stage n case it do go right!

  • why dont cha take ya monkey ass & get a college degree..i love it

  • Man!! LL snapped... so HARD, ON this muthafucka, man. I, still, have not seen another song that went hard as this... LL can't even do it again!!!

  • @denonash yeah this is an underrated classik...

  • man i've been djing for over 30 years this whole album is tight

  • one of my all time favorites. I love tracks where mc's deliver an uninterrupted barrage of rhymes vs. the usual: verse, chorus, verse... this song is the premier example. also see: rasco - bits & pieces... which on top of the verbal assault, finishes with one of the best skratch solos ever

  • @ronnylongjohns "The Do Wop"—also on the album—is likewise a continuous series of rhymes with no chorus or interruption whatsoever. This rap has 38 rhymes; the "Do Wop" has a walloping 47!

  • Phenomenal! LL's MC'ing is just superhuman. This track is a response to the feud with MC Shan and his diss against LL on Beat Biter. Everything from 3:00 onwards is aimed straight at Shan.

  • @JayArgonaut you are 100%correct

  • Damn I miss the old school days!

  • LL COO J THE BADEST AROUND.. MAN THE YEAR THIS CAME OUT NOBODY COULD TOUCH HIM I WISH HE WOULD OF STAYED WITH THIS TYPE OF HUNGER CAUSE HE KIND OF FELL OFF AFTER THIS REC

  • @specialk1949 he was on for a bit longer than this. "walking with a panther" had hella cuts. "i'm the type of guy to leave my drawers in your hamper" c'mon! "mama said... " had a couple too... used to love 'eat em up and chill'

  • ll cool j wuz tha rapper in 85 86 87 88 89 he so hard my nigga diz my fav from him he wuz way ahead run dmc on mic

  • ll cool j wuz tha rapper in 85 86 87 88 89 he so hard my nigga diz my fav from him

  • ll cool j wuz tha rapper in 85 86 87 88 89

  • The last man who didn't listen ended up gettin hung. Not that I killed him, its just he didn't wanna trust the words of a master that why you must. omg This man was fucken great.

  • 23 years later... and this cut still rips!!!

  • Rated X, born to snap necks......They dont make em like this anymore!!

  • LL is the man. I lost interest in rap after this album, everything since then is obsolete in my opinion.

  • I love this song dammit. I know it's dated by todays standards but why can't these wimpy rappers come up with something hard this. It's hard thumping with alot of energy. All these thug rappers are too laid back.

  • @brandon98188 they are too busy getting high in the studio thats why they sound so laid back.

  • He goes hard on this

  • fly girls desire the man you admire.

  • Born in 1991 and i'm feelin this oldschool shit too.. rocks hell

  • everyone hating on this dude! why??! mad nice, still got tons of respect for ya ll

  • This song is sick. It's one of the hardest cuts ever made imo...early LL was awesome...too bad he got soft later on...

  • @101philosopha101 you must not know Cool J's entire catalog my dude...yeah he made the ladies joints but he was making plenty of songs for the dudes too on later albums, do your homework on it and you'll see what I mean!

  • @hiphoplegend1 cool, i'll check out his later stuff in more detail then...

  • this shit goes hard in any era. maybe my fav L song of that era...

  • No no my son, LL never mentioned Shan, but Shan mentioned LL on his dis record many times. Mc Shans. rhymes and beat was better. "Let me rock this rhyme only if I may, directed to my man LL Cool J" wHAT !!!

  • That was Hip Hop at its finest. LL brought it to Shan the way it was supposed to be delivered, Hard and Direct.

  • DAMN!!!! LL COOL J JUSS SHITTED

  • Man I missed the days when LL was this hungry and viscous with his lyrics and punchlines.

  • THIS was the album right here!! Hip-hop's golden age!!

  • Daaamn, so Im pretty young but I looove these LL Cool J songs, this is REAL hip hop, not like Soulja Boy & all that crap..real lyrics, real beats...just real.

  • you just a worker and your boss is my man.

  • ISSAC HAYES - THE BREAKTHOUGH

  • a yo where the hell is ''E - LOVE''?...

  • @kellcamz E Love is in the army...he actually DOES drive a tank, lol

  • Those beats were slamming back in the day. Need to pick up another copy

  • Comment removed

  • @LALLZ i have the LP , the cassette, and the CD......good souvenirs... people got their Elvis ...i got my LL.

  • those who over 30 and up...Know how raw LL was! and still is!!

  • dont say still is.

  • If this is a dis of Shan, OK. But did he even come back at Kool Keith for dissin him? Somebody hit me with the 411

  • Back when LL was lyrically raw!!!!!

  • That doesn't sound right to me but I guess everybody has their own way of thinking.

  • You could have just kept your negative comment to yourself. It looks like you were a baby when this song was popular so you wouldn't like it. In 1987 this album was a very big hit and it made millions. So whether you like it or not. The album was a hit to teenagers and adults all around from 1987-1989 and it is still a hit.

  • @letsbeforeal , tell em, if you go to LL vs. Canibus on here, you would be mad and probably start going off! Peace and and let em know! LL killed it on any verse and song! They don't know, and I like you where a baby comment! LMBO!

  • @LGKids Thanks I'm glad someone is feeling me.

  • @letsbeforeal , you know if its a comment that's letting em know or if its some old school, LGKids is there! Peace and keep letting em know!

  • @letsbeforeal> Yeah Man, we got to teach these youngsters - they don't know shit about the real hip hop or the beats that were created when we couldn't afford instruments. This ...hit alone is still one the the dopest hits every created. Tell the youngsters with the neg comments they don't know shit about real music or real talent. The sad part is they are still part of our history - teach the ones with open minds and talent will last a lifetime..

  • @ProLit L.L. said in his wrap instead of walking like your limping talking yang about me why don't you take your monkey a_ _ and get a college degree. If you are not a fan why listen

  • man he snapped on this shit, "don't you know you're just a worker and your boss is my man" lol

  • LOL!

  • @pro750i he was going at M.C. Shan.

It was a respons to BeatBiter by MC Shan.

  • @CEEPMDEE oh word up, i ain't even know they had beef back then

  • Maybe my fav LL song

    Pure rhymin' skills

  • one of my many favs by LL

  • @Brogadeboogie this was like our version of 'The Message"

  • 1 of the hardest songs ever!!!

  • wow that sounds rlly weird

  • It's 4 Minutes Of Just Nonstop Rhyming

  • this song goes sooo hard!

  • They run, they frightened, they hide from King Titan like a sniper when he's shootin' or a viper when he's bitin'

    love that rhyme.

  • this song is ganster lol and so am i like MR.mclovin lol ;]

  • LL and run dmc owned the game from 84-87.

  • This is DEFinetely one of my Fav Tracks off the Album..

  • Your Mic sounds Weak

    Remember that Skeezer

I'm Badder than Napolean, Hitler or Caesar!

I'm a Hitman, but 'm not for Hire

Fly girls Desire, The Man you Admire!

    Classic!!

  • He never stops flowing on this Track. Continuous Rhyme! CLASSIC!! His BEST EVER!

  • I'm rated X, born to snap necks, straight up and down, no special effects; I'm the professor, the teacher, the hip hop dean and if Russians battle U.S. they'd be scared to touch Queens....

  • Is this going at MC Shan?

  • no, kool moe dee

  • This was the shit back in the day and still applies today.

  • Can you say... CLASSIC?

  • Jadakiss sampled the line "your just a worker and your boss is my man" in the 2001 song "uh uh" feat. dmx.

  • This was always the sickest beat on the B.A.D album in my album. Classic.

  • Alright, somebody, please set me straight; is this a dis at M.C. Shan or Kool Moe Dee? I just read an old write up on Yahoo 360, that it's a shot at Moe Dee. You can search the ends of the Earth for anything on L.L. Cool J. vs. M.C. Shan, and you will find nothing; casue it was M.C. Shan coming at Cool J., only (Beat Biter, I Took Your Radio). As far as I know, L.L. never answered back at Shan; he wasn't worth the effort. I find nowhere that this is a shot at Shan.

  • of course it is, he mentioned the pumas!

  • Not enough evidence for me. He could have just been talkin' about a random cat. Everybody was wearing Pumas back then; even L.L. for a time (Krush Groove).

  • this was the answer to beat biter and kill that noise by shan. l just waited til bigger and deffer to get at him.

  • Aiight, my man; you got me on this one. I found an MC Shan interview, online, by some dude named Jayquan (.com) in 2002, in which he asks Shan about "The Breakthrough". Shan does acknowledge it as a subliminal dis, but says he called out cats by name, so that "spectators" didn't have to wonder who he was referencing. But that's all he said; he didn't expand on it. Shan actually gave himself way too much credit for the hip-hop movement in the interview. Anyway, much respect due, Jasofly32!

  • now doubt famo!! been a junkie since '84 bro!! if u on myspace, go to my channel n click the myspace link!!

  • it is....he was talking about the Pumas...

LL and Run DmC were so huge and were considered mainstream.. Alot of artist did not respect LL's talents accused him of stealing styles (Run, Tla Rock) and beats...LL just did it better than anybody as a solo artist from 1984-1986...

  • Which is interesting, because as much as we loved Run and them, L..L.s flow and vocab was more advanced than those cats...or at least seemed to be, during that time.

  • ll is my dude but t la rock had mad articulation in his lyrics before j.

  • so true, my man had this shit on smash. young cats talk about swag need to check footage of a young cool j! LOL

  • @Legendcjr37 This is a diss towards Shan. Kool Moe Dee dissed LL in the wake of the huge success of this album.

  • Comment removed

  • @mrstep2me Mikey Dee of The Infamous Main Source said in an online interview that it was a dis towards him.

  • @Legendcjr37 Ok, makes sense. I knew this was before his beef with Moe Dee though.

  • @mrstep2me Oh yeah...for sure. Bigger and Deffer was Moe Dee's reason for ressurrection.

  • @mrstep2me this was L's response to beat biter by shan. you are correct

  • @mrstep2me moe dee only dissed llcoolj because ll use his rhymestyl on the "rock the bells remix.

  • when LL was the shit

  • One of greatest hater diss songs ever! It was followed up by it's brother "Jack the Ripper! LL broke this down and told KRS One, thanks, but I can take it from here! LL could and will take out all fakes and the ryhmes are still fresh for 08, suckers!LOL! (and did I say fresh?)LOL! Peace to all real hip hop heads! Now it's time for some Kanday!

  • one of ll's hardest rhymes!

  • priceless lyrics

  • this is the joint!

LL need to make more joints like this hardcore with a message.

  • He did they just didn't make his hardcore stuff into a single that much.

  • thats the shit

  • Awesome. I remember buying this album way back in 1989 on cassette tape but I ended up getting the edited version with many of the cuss words bleeped out. Thanks for posting the unedited.

  • yeah he was callin out shan on this track...

  • One of the best 1 hitter quitters in Hip Hop History!! This track made me know LL was for real. 3.5.7. is the track where he took shots at Shan only because he shot 1st. Check out BDP's The Bridge is OVER

  • He took some shots at Shan on this one...
