If you knew anything about the show, you'd know Aang didn't study Airbending that whole time. Most monks don't even get their tattoos until they master Airbending, but Aang got his early, for creating the air scooter. Hell, they don't even tell the next Avatar they /are/ the Avatar until they're sixteen.

And, as I said, he's basically showing off that he can control his Airbending to the extent that he can put out a few candles, rather than wipe them all out at once. A giant fan could do that.

Well, because Appa's isn't a tattoo. It's his fur pattern. The air nomads got it from the flying bison, same as the earthbenders learned to earthbend from the badger moles and the fire nation learned from dragons.

Only Airbenders who had mastered airbending got the tattoo, though, and normally, they were in their teens before they got it, but Aang got his early, because he invented the air scooter. n_n

Is it because the creators decided to use an art style that didn't exaggerate stereotypes associated with asians (slanted eyes, etc, etc). And if the creators have said the show was based on REAL asian cultures (writing, fighting styles, clothes, etc), why shouldn't the actors be asian? The casting calls for this movie prioritized white actors. Just because they don't have to look asian doesn't mean they have to be white.

if you look through the cast list there are several asians. Several actors are Indian. And hardly any of them have have a standard causcasian background. Also, actors are usually chosen for popularity, and their ACTING ABILITY so maybe they liked the actors, and maybe didnt want to spend extra money searching random towns in asia to find the perfect actors. Maybe they should just skip the special effects while theyre at it, and just find someone who actually has elemental powers!!! s/

As long as we avoid any "what a twist!" (save the "this really is earth!" since the cartoon kinda nudged that) this will be at least passable. It's a retelling, so the movie will obviously lose the "magic" of your first run through the series. Teasers are good for one thing and that's giving you the landscape. And the effects and setting are looking very true to the original.
