  • occupy dead...lols...the uprising of humanity is far from dead, my friends...occupy is a still vibrantly strong part if it, & it has not stopped nor have many other underground "good works" stopped happening... :D

  • SACHS FOR PRESIDENT!!!

  • The occucraper movement is dead. Thank God. It's spreading around the world Jeffey Sucks? What is that, the putrid aroma of the filthy deadbeat Obama losers that was left behind after they finally dispersed?

  • Make this man Speaker of the house.

Then subsidize government educational institutions, and place congress on the roster for the next years students. Its going to be okay after that, CP

  • Jeffrey Sachs for president.

  • Love this man! He's such an inspiration and it's great he's supporting the Occupy movement.

  • The big corporate donors don't even vote. They don't care about voting. That's what the Bush administration proved. They don't care about Democracy. And Dick Cheney said that deficits don't matter.

  • None of this is new. Noam Chomsky has been saying this for decades.

  • WE NEED THIS GUY TO RUN IN 2012!

  • I like it. Thank you professor.

  • So...is the violence that happened at the Washington Center on Friday, Nov. 4th o.k.? Is putting children and the elderly from the "Defending the American Dream Summit"...worth it? If so, what else is worth it?

  • SACHS = OBAMA

the same enthralled, raving for Obama is now directed toward Sachs and his ilk. Sachs says he now supports O and yet condemns him in the same breath; sheer audacity in double-speak. what is said here are platitudes without much substance. Sachs is the elite! Sachs is the 1%! O could have taken public financing but he wanted the "billion" in 08 and accepted Wall St cash! Sachs knew this then, knows this now! Sachs' vision is for elites. you don't understand bc you don't know elites

  • @qncsc Don't make assumptions on what your readers understand and do not, for we can question the same about you. Your logic extends only as far as your written reason. I believe you're wishing for Sachs to take a simple look at Obama and either outright accept him, or oppose him. It certainly isn't as simple as that, as being president is more dynamic than what is projected by the people. Obama must walk a fine line, or face harsh retaliation. I'm wholly progressive, but do not wholly oppose O.

  • @Lennybird91 - when do you call a crook, a crook? when...an incompetent, an incompetent? how anyone can still support O is beyond me! he said that he would accept public financing for his campaign and then realizing how successful his donations were, he reneged. (he was the largest recipient of Wall St cash). all of the rhetoric and promises ring hollow. debt has exploded purposely to $1t every year. this was purposed; also purposed for every subsequent yr. this is suicide! Sachs is as corrupt

  • @qncsc I guess I hold my stance, and I assume Dr. Sachs the same, because Obama IS undoubtedly our last hope. We can't afford another GOP. In order to change the rules of the game, you have to first play by the political game. We will all know Obama's true colors post-2012 elections. He has two options (3 arguably): Come out strong left just prior to elections, or after achieving the widening moderates post-e, THEN go left—or he can marginalize the GOP into oblivion by assuming center-right.

  • @Lennybird91 - only an abject idiot would want another term for O. is that you? only someone that has no comprehension of mathematics, economics or complexity would want to extend $1t deficits, not recognizing the consequences. your failing paradigm limits your scope of analysis and inhibits a broader understanding of what forces are at work, within the economy. sad, pathetic. you have no idea the chump that you are "happily" being played for. layers of context that you have no hope to discern

  • @qncsc I cannot speak of facts and figures for which I'm limited to 500 characters. If you expect wholesome reasoning derived from empirical and mathematical facts, this isn't the best place. Don't create a false false-straw man and then lump me with it, suggesting I'm an idiot—an ad hominem. You say nothing for which you hold me to, and did not respond to me. I would suggest that you look beyond Obama if you're concerned with who is responsible for the deficit. Don't derail with tangency.

  • @Lennybird91 - so many characters (500 even!) and so little meaning. pathetic!

  • i was a bit skeptical about the occupy wall street movement, thinking they were whiny lil bitches. But Mr Jerrey Sachs is making a valid point. The system is broke so this movement is making awareness to the 99% of the American public, that wall street, big oil and other private interest groups have taken over the system ...

  • Jeffrey Sachs for President!

  • Prof. Sachs is awesome, I hear his message loud and clear, now I plan to support those candidates who make a pledge, like Sen. Bernie Sanders from Vermont, to NEVER take corproate money, Ever! Every state needs to get out there find their own "Bernie Sanders" and help them get elected, like the Prof. says, use free media. "OB1...it's our only hope..." :-)

  • it's a big shame that those rich capitalists are speaking on the same place that Slavoj Zizek spoke a few days ago.. a shame!

  • HARVARD JEWS LOOT RUSSIA

RUSSIAN COMMUNISM FELL in 1991. The Jews could not wait to sink their greedy claws into the new scenario in Russia.

Jeffrey Sachs, who at that time was a Professor of Economics at Harvard University, was one of these Jews.

Jeffrey Sachs: After being exposed for making a “killing” off of the privatization of Russia, he was allowed by Harvard to quietly leave and take a professorship at the Jewish-run Columbia University in NY.

  • @northpal1 Oh, good! Ignorant racism on youtube. How refreshing, and thanks so much for sharing your disease.

  • @olives937 The Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion

    9. Re-education

    2. The words of the liberal, which are in effect the words of our masonic watchword, namely, “Liberty, Equality, Fraternity,” will, when we come into our kingdom, be changed by us into words no longer of a watchword, but only an expression of idealism, namely, into “The right of liberty, the duty of equality, the ideal of brotherhood.”

  • @northpal1 You are entitled to your opinions, but quoting some world conquest sh*t at me isn't going to make me hate and/or be afraid of Jewish people. I feel sorry for you. And yes, I did write a paper on it. I'm not surprised Sachs is excited about OWS; Ron Paul is now becoming quite popular, and there's nothing Sachs would love more than Paul's free market, which would be twisted and manipulated by Sachs and others like him. See how I said that without hating on an entire race of people?

  • @olives937 Ignorant isms terms washed upon your numb brain. You are the ignorant type that leads to genocide with your fake race blindfold across your eyes.

  • @northpal1 By the way, I do know what you're talking about as far as the privatization of Russia. I wrote a paper on it. But your "Jews" bullsh*t is both unnecessary and offensive.

  • @olives937 "wrote a paper on it" huh "Jews" bullsh*t huh - Jewishness of the Bolshevik Revolution; the Jewishness of Hollywood; the Jewishness of the Clinton administration; the Jewishness of Neoconservatism; the Jewishness of Critical Theory, the Frankfurt School, Boasian Anthropology, and Freudian Psychoanalysis;

  • is CNN the whore of babylon

  • Jeffrey Sachs should run for office.

  • WTF = CNN are there.

  • Thank God for the Internet. "Who watches TV anyway" I agree!

  • Simply buy products from companies who only contribute to politicians that refuse money from Wall Street, banks, other groups that shove democracy out of the way. Companies can be monitored by guardian groups and rated like Amazon products.

  • Every communistic country has switched over to capitalism. Talk to the people who lived during communistic rule, and they will tell you that they are 1000 times happier, and that they feel more free. The occupy wall street movement is focusing on the wrong people. The government has more to do with our problems than any business. Congress forced some banks to accept TARP. And congress caused the housing collapse by passing the fair housing act. Forcing banks to make risky loans. Shame on them.

  • The Arab Spring is a fiction. There are uprisings but look at the results... murder in Syria and Yemen, the Muslim Brotherhood's growing power in Egypt, a violent revolution in Libya backed by NATO... and who are the rebels? Islamic Fundamentalists with ties to Al Quaeda... The Arab spring is a fraud. Just like Obama is a fraud.

The fact that young people are rising up is one thing. Let's see how spring-like the Arab countries are going to be in 6 months...

  • @smileykermit You speak islamaphobic nonsense. If you arn't brave enough to stand up then don't knock those that are.

  • @alexiswolfe Ridding the world of dictators is noble but what are they to be replaced with? In both cases, Egypt and Libya, no one knows who's going to be running things. I don't think the Muslim Brotherhood represents democratic principles, and the war in Libya (largely won by NATO) appears to have been engineered by the west. Any criticism of Islam gets this knee jerk reply of "Islamaphobia"... I guess, Theocracy is cool as long as it's Islamic.

  • @smileykermit Yes there may be doubts and problems but after decades of dictatorships the change to stable democracies won't happen overnight, it will be years but at least the people are making the changes. The OWS is Americas hope for a fairer society for all... be positive!

  • @alexiswolfe I am positive... that's why I go down to Occupy Boston almost every day... talk to people, educate and get educated or just have lunch and some laughs... Although I'm a critical SOB by nature, I'm also an optimist of sorts, and I truly appreciate your positivity...

  • He certainly has my vote, Sachs for President!

  • The reason why Obama won't be re-elected is because he keeps pushing policies that kill jobs. Unemployment rates have gone up, and our spending is still out of control. We need transparency, someone who will push real solutions that will grow the economy, and balance the budget. Plain and simple.

  • @alex100881 - "Growing" is the problem. We'll never grow out of this mess because it's a PONZI. Study the math.

  • 08:22 I just clicked the video here by mistake... almost scared me, for real!

  • Sachs for president!!!

  • Jeffrey Sachs is the director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, which has completely ignored the nuclear issue!

  • Sachs for president

    Greetings from Berlin

  • @DaddyChronicBerlin

    Absolutely. Jeff Sachs for President!!!!!

  • Thank you Professor Sachs.

  • Don't for get to tell him to have the lowest corporate tax in the world so the company's will come back,,, people say that corporate America should pay.. WHY? they don't have to pay taxes. Not when there is "FREE WORLD TRADE" !!! Thank You, Clinton by the way... wow they raised tax and got less money . think about it

  • Part of the problem in modern government politics, occurs when a person is elected and then goes to express their personal opinion on a subject and then is able to ignore what the 99% actually want by saying

"you elected me to DECIDE FOR YOU"

we dont need to elect anyone ever again.

  • we don't even need politians anymore, we can easily have a direct democracy using our electronic connectivity.

using money in politics AT ALL instantly invalidates the concept that each person can have an equal voice.

if we do have elected people in power, we MUST demand Logical Accountability at all times.

  • He didn't listen to the guy properly behind him to hes left.

  • This should be the basis of a new political party.

  • Jeffrey has always been brilliant. We need his voice now.

  • We are now observing the "Animal Farm" syndrome. We did not do enough the Progressives say. WE did not tax enough or elect enough Progressives. WE can only succeed if we do More of the same only harder. What absolute tripe. The OWS crew and this professor need to read a little history and see where all the stuff leads and it is not to a more peaceful and prosperous society.

  • We have enough Jews in White House already, don't you think?

  • @MrCapeVerde What the hell are you talking about?

  • Bravo, Prof. Sachs!! What you've said here could almost restore the US back to it's democratic roots. Too bad what you've pointed out about Obama is sadly true. He's fallen prey to the super rich. Where are our political heroes?? Or is that an oxymoron?

  • @yanaedmurphy I am so sorry to point this out to you but in a Representative Republic like the USA we elect Representatives NOT Leaders. WE place people in positions of power to carry out or will. We determine their ability to do this during the period prior to the election. If you will look back to the 2008 election I believe you will find that those who believe in Constitutional Government UNIVERSALLY opposed the elections of Progressives especially Mr. Obama.

  • The 4 dislikes are from the CEOs of Goldmans Sachs, JP Morgan, the Bank of America and Citigroup. They should all be in jail!

  • It's called the Federal Reserve Folks!! And the representatives that caused the crash are the same people Obama has placed in his cabinet & as his advisors. Larry Summer? Please. To end the corruption of Wall Street you must End the Fed who creates our fiat currency, the bubbles & busts. Until this is done, Occupy Wall Street will simply give government the grant to grow!

  • PLEASE RUN FOR PRESIDENT!!!

  • Awesome, man! I wish there were more people like him. A great and insightful video! Thank you! Somos el 99%! Peace and much love!

  • Between 06:46 and 07:16 he explains everything in few words. A country owned by corporations is NOT a normal country. And this is the America's situation

    ronpaul2012

  • @jdsf40 He's funded by the Koch brothers who want to completely deregulate corporations. Koch industries is in the top 10 companies that emit the most pollution.

  • His name is Ron Paul. He's been here all along.

  • la

  • To WW Whank - you need to read what most of our Founding Fathers had to say about the big banks and corporations. They saw them as the greatest threats to our liberties. Corporate campaign contributions were felony offenses; the national bank was supposed to be temporary only to pay for the Revolutionary War. Andrew Jackson shut it down and distributed the money to several banks, and returned the power to print money to Congress - like it says in the Constitution.

  • You guys can post this video on After Classroom, After Classroom is designed for students to easy get help on doing homeworks as well as learn from socializing rather than wasting time with it. Check it out.

  • Professor if you love Sweden and/or Denmark please go there.

  • Holy crap that was good.

  • Trump 4 prez yo

  • SAY IT LOUD! SAY IT LOUD! LOVED ONES! We are with you in our Home!

  • Julius Ceaser anyone?

  • Get Sachs, Paul Krugman and Chris Hedges behind people like Elizabeth Warren and America might have a chance. Should have happened years ago. But this uprising might actually light a fire under the logjam that big money built.

  • My vision starts at 20 million people who understand what he is saying. He is not alone and we all know that is true.

  • Where does he think he is ? in France ? hey Dr you live in USA and this country was built and run by big guys ... how many people can you mobilize ? million ? LOL ok and then what ?

this could be positive and do- able if it was France or Germany but here ? gooooood Luck Mr Peachy

  • J. Sachs for president ... i am all in

  • Jeffrey Sachs has been talking sense for a long time. If you doubt his progressive credentials, you are woefully misinformed.

  • Jeffrey Sachs for President!!!!!!!! Thanks for representing many of us Dr. Sachs!!!!!

  • that republican she was talking about with no corporate donations wants to continue the wars so hes a lost cause.

  • "itzdland" calls jeffrey sachs a traitor.i suggest you go back and listen to what he says,again..people like you are quick to label someone a traitor for simply advocating change or expressing a opposing view to your own.i suggest a lack of good judgement and common decency on your part.there's more than a little irony in that your choice of web names contains the word "stupid".

  • Thank you Professor Sachs. KEEP SPEAKING OUT!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sachs is a vile opportunist.

  • has anyone got a transcript of this?

  • Comment removed

  • Jeffrey Sachs is a traitor... he does not mention that the monopoly in land/site values is the mother of all monopolies... So he goes out, blaming the banksters, when in fact it is the monetary system of the privately owned federal reserve. Wake up folks. Tax land/site values and privilege, enjoy a citizens dividend. web wealthandwant . com

  • Power back to the People, NOT another leader who isn't actually leading. The People will lead themselves and not be fooled anymore.

  • The social media run by the corporations... lol

    What an obvious oversight.

  • This is exactly what you hear from all politicians... "I'm gonna do this, I'm gonna do that, groundbreaking shit, blah blah blah, and then they win and it's the same old insanity run by money and fear. Leave politics and politicians out of this movement, don't waste all this incredible stuff we've started by putting another bullshit band-aid on it.

  • @sentientstill Do you even know who he is?

  • @Lourdestortoise It doesn't matter who he is, or if the most brilliant, solid, magical person with impeccable integrity was president, that's just settling for more of the same failed, limited and fundamentally flawed setup we have now. We wouldn't be getting anywhere other than more of this drawn out delusion of improvement and progress. Jeffrey seems great, and what he brings would be wonderfully helpful to this movement, but only as an equal to all, no more levels of power and separation.

  • @sentientstill Oh no, I agree. My response was actually warranted from "leave politics and politicians out of this movement." Part of this "fundamentally flawed setup" is that politicians aren't doing their job. My other point is that Jeffrey Sachs IS NOT a politician, he is an economist and head of the Columbia University Earth Institute. His position DOES matter. If you look up his projects, you will see that he has contributed to the very problems that OWS stands against.

  • @Lourdestortoise Did you mean that he has contributed to healing the problems that OWS stands against, or his contributions and projects are what OWS opposes? What contributions are you thinking of?

  • As far as I can find,no relation to Goldman-Sachs! And he was saying the same things befor Occupy Wallstreet,a year ago.

  • Nobody for president. If we want something real and positive, we can't stick with this insane system that doesn't work... it doesn't matter who is president.

  • 3000 more views since last night! Only 2 dislikes! Lets get this to go viral! Share on your twitter and facebook!

  • JOIN US, Obama. Recant. You can either be part of the change or go down in history as someone who was simply "there" when the 99% decided to fight back against the corporate machine. And that goes DOUBLE for every congressman and senator that fills our congress.

  • Because Wall Street funded Obummer's 1st presidential campaigne, no aware person "was shocked that Wall Street came right along with him."

Only clowns like this clown were shocked at something any student of logic 101 could figure out:

Obummer is merely a puppet of puppeteer Zbignew Brzezinski who is the merely the mouthpiece for David Rockefeller and the rest of the international bankers.

And this clown is a college professor?

    Hahahahaha!

  • is that Tony Parker behind Jeffrey??

  • who was the asshole troll in the crowd telling him what to say and how to say it.....have respect!!!!!!!

  • @etherealvibration This is the only way for someone to address the crowd, as the NYC Police Dept. has outlawed public address sytems.

  • With all due respect to Professor Sachs, the problem on election day isn't going to be whether progressives can leverage free media to get their message out.

It'll be the Republicans' state-by-state disenfranchisement of voters who they figure won't vote for them.

They had no shame about refusing to recognize a Democrat's birth certificate when that particular Democrat just happened to be PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Do you think they're going to recognize YOUR documents?

  • VOTE FOR RON PAUL !!! End the WARS !! AUDIT the FED !!!!

  • @thruid3 fuck ron paul!!! SMASH THE STATE, SMASH CAPITALISM!!!

  • it costs 52,000 per year to go to the Columbia University Business School and pay this guys salary. i don't see him giving any money back himself to the 'poor' students who can't afford tuition. Sound bites all, no solutions. Go sell more books.

  • @daropaer1 you are right on! these people are tools of the system!!

  • More peoploe should speak out like this guy..he makes so much sense

  • What started in Tunisia and Egypt and spread to Spain, Portugal, Greece, Italy, Israel, Chile and almost all over is reaching and hitting this country, a global movement and it's so contagious

  • Jeffrey, Run for president!! I'll vote for you!!

  • so true!!!

  • he seems like a good guy

  • he's not related to Goldman Sachs, get a clue.

  • the current economic problem, is that the banks are all paranoid as #$%^ so they're just sleeping on the bailout money like a comfy pillow when they're supposed to be loaning and spending to the lowerclass who really NEED the opportunities of those loans and grants!

  • This guy better get some body guards! #OWS

  • Sachs is part of the corruption that destroyed the world and the fall of capitalism.

  • @aikfanat Not sure,but I dont think he's related? I'll go Googe him.

  • @aikfanat you are an idiot.

  • different Sachs

  • Very smart man! Ive been saying for several years,YOU could become president on the internet! Without big money, without Wallstreet! With social media, youtube and all the other sites on here, anyone can run and win! Without a dime!

  • Another economist, Walter E. Williams would make Jeffrey Sachs look like a stupid fool in a debate.

  • @clmabry: Ha, yeah maybe in a theoretical debate, but in the real world, free market dogma doesn't work. And the real world is what's important.

  • Robin Hood was right!

  • .... or joseph stiglitz ..!

    Peace

  • jeffry sachs for prez 2012

  • @fuckFOXpropaganda you don't get it. the whole reason they are demonstrating is because of the inequities of placing one man in a position of power over another. geeze man. try to think.

  • @StefanMeichner your're wrong. the reason we're protesting is because we want, ....

    1. social justice; ..fairness; ..to be heard; .. a voice

    2. accountability (life holds us(99%) accountable everyday. it's about time that they(1%) also get held accountable. which brings me back to ..point 1.)

... it's as simple as that! we want a democracy not an anarchy! we do want someone in power. we just want that someone to listen to us also!!

    Peace

  • @fuckFOXpropaganda write-in Sachs/Nader 2012. Sachs is attractive enough to take out Romney.

  • Comment removed

  • @fuckFOXpropaganda Hell, if that happened we would finally have a sane foreign policy!

  • Go, Jeff! Remember that the solution will involve everyone and when the rich and corporations wake up and understand that their future depends on all of our survival then we will be able to build a sustainable solution. It is not going to be a war that produces the world we want. It is going to emerge from a collective understanding of what we all need to be happy and healthy for generations to come. @judy101101, I disagree. Read him now.

  • Professor Sachs: Please run for President.

  • Repeal the Super Congress

  • Occupy the Federal reserve baning system look up alex jones occupy the fed on goodle.

Wall St. Is the Fed's pupped leader.

  • I've looked at this guy's teachings since he is educated economist and they always get it wrong - what he stands for is actually doing more of everything that is wrong thinking it will work - his non profits are bandaids and those never work
