But my main point is that there is absolutely no glam rock anymore. I mean NOTHING. There's still metal and rap, but absolutely no glam rock. Not quite sure why.

Actually, considering that bands like floyd and the hendrix experience did a lot of experimenting with production and mixing on recordings it was still rather important back then. Though these days no one really experiments, they just use it to hide the fact that they're talentless.
