  • Thank You

  • Fixed a major annoyance on my HP mini. Thanks for all the fish!

  • you rock dude!

  • Just used this to fix my vaio e series! just used a very thin piece of paper and folded it several times and its working wonders :).

  • Should I use a full post it note? Just fold the whole post it up like that ? I'm so pissed that the left side of my space bar is sticking and isn't clicking anymore, I've only had this Vaio for 2 months. Seriously pissed.

  • thanks man this help with my desktop key board

  • I LOVE YOU SOOOO MUCH THX THX U!!!!!!!!!

  • wtf.what.did.u.put.on.the.spacebar?

  • Five years later and this still does wonders. Did the newer vaio's SZ get this problem too?

  • I think my space bar is broken.

  • I love internet! Thank you man. I thought my vaio was done for ( i was carrying a keyboard all around). Thank you ikarisfallen.

  • ywholekeyoarddoestenwork=[

  • It works! I FUCKIN love you man. I was so pissed with my brand new Toshiba laptop spacebar that I was gonna buy a new keyboard because I didn't wanna go through the whole hassle with the warranty process. I don't know how did u come up with that idea but you're a genius. You made my day, God bless you dude!

  • Thank you dude! I fixd my spacebar.

    God Bless!

  • Thank u man:))))

  • Cheers bud! Problem sorted within 5 minutes! Thanks.

  • i have an F series and it just started making noise :~(( i had to practically learn how to only use the space bar with my left thumb. Sony fucking pisses me off, its such an expensive laptop. now my Shift key is also squeaking. im not buying a vaio ever again

  • thank God I saw this video! i was considering buying a whole new keyboard because my space bar wasn't workin! ahhh I'm a teacher and an author and so i do a lot of writing on my computer and u really need your space bar! thanks for posting!

  • Thank you very much I had trouble with the thickness I ended up using double sided tape and worked out.

  • i used paper, i still have to hit it but its better than it not working at all xD

  • my space bar has like a metal bar wtf

  • I have a vaio vgn-ns30e - worked a charm. although I am not entirely sure what he used, I used a small folded up piece of masking tape and tucked it under the spacebar wires to hold it firmly in place. My vaio now works again - phew!!! Thanks!!!

  • what is that white thing? a chewing gum?

  • Superb. This worked on my IBM R50 too. I also used masking tape, sticy side facing both the space bar and the little button in the keyboard. I was surprised at how much I had to use to make it work accross the whole width of the space bar, but a bit of trial and error and hey presto. I can now type normally and don't need to think about replacing the whole keyboard or PC. Brilliant.

    Thanks so much mate, really!!!

  • You, sir, are a god. Thanks a million!

  • Has anyone ever successfully removed the palm rest from the SZ? The three screws that hold it on are extremely tight. I actually broke a screwdriver trying to remove them.

  • I love you. You saved me SO MUCH TROUBLE. I just stuck a little bit of paper in!

  • OMFG!! thank you now my parents will never kno

  • Dide a similiar thing to my normal keyboard yesterday (don't know how google find out to suggest me this vid NOW) , unfortunately I accidentially melt my [A] key with my desk lamp and had to replace it with a rarly used key from the num pad -.- Wasn't that much successful, over all... but at least my spacebar works again (it worked fine for month but got mucky, i guess)

  • i broke the plasic of it is it possible to fix?

  • Thanks so much, i managed to fix mine with a little blue tac :)

  • Thank you so much! I'm about to start finals and my computer is finally usable again! You're a life saver!

  • i got a half broken vaio pcg r505gl laptop and this hack works 4 it to. it will also work for other laptops i am sure

  • AWSOME!!

    It really worked.

I used masking tape and folded so that the sticky sides would stick to the notebook & spacebar.

    Thanks 100000000000000!

  • OMG icanuse my spacebaragain...

    hmmm>.. oorcanI?

  • aahahahahaahha! I typed almost the same thing as you once (or was that twice?) when I believed my brand new Sony AW's spacebar was working right. trying my best to avoid sending it into the shop (w/be pc-less 10-14 days, says sony ppl).

think i'm going to try this even tho mine's a different model (scared i might disable it completely after i 'fix' it;-)

did u ever get yours to work thru this video's suggestion or any other way?

  • i can type again!

  • its a freaking miracle!

  • You just saved my laptop...

    that is fantastic!!!

  • saved my computing life! awesomeness!!!

  • good video

  • damn, why didnt i think of gum?! ur a genius!

  • Thanks it helped me put it back on also. I have a VGN. I think he put like a post it note(the sticky part) underneath the spacebar. That's what i'm using.

  • What did you put on it?

I have the same laptop, but i can't fix it =s

  • You are quite awesome! Thanks!

This works for the Inspiron 1520 as well!

  • This was fantastic! My LG laptop spacebar is working great again. Thanks a lot!

  • niiice. i first put the little thing in, and then took it out and it works fine again, lol.

    nice vid. 5/5.

  • THANK YOUU!

    but what is it?

  • You just saved my life, thankyou!!!

  • i don't have a sony vaio ... but the idea of putting something under the spacebar has helped me out big time cheers mate !

  • What shoutido for my keyboardwhichisnt like the flat oneyouhave, with cube like keys, the middleofthe spacebar haslike a cylinder thatgoes down atube onthe boardand pressesthe button... iwas thinking ofputting someting(iunnowhat) inthe cylinder

  • Great! Thank you so much! I have been labouring with a dodgy space bar on my Toshiba for so long I've forgotten how to type properly. Took me 2 minutes and job done!!

  • Oh My!!!

Although mine is Compaq Presario B1200, I can use that VAIO method too...

    Thank you!!!!

    This really works trust me!!!

  • Thank you!! I fixed mine! although I didn't use that tape thing =P

  • I-did-this-and-a-piece-of-plasitc-hinging-or

    something-fell-out-anyone-know-what-i-should-do-now:s

  • sorry, but I vote this post as the most hilarious. You broke your spacebar, you need to buy a new one. I'm sorry to laugh at you, but the fact that you are not even pressing the little button that registers the button press and are instead using dashes is simply funny.

  • Well its a good job I fixed it then isnt it!

  • Sorry @ your trouble. I've been afraid if I try something, I'll end up with a fully dead spacebar instead of a half-dead one (right end=dead zone). 2 Sony techs said I'd have to send it into the hospital for my whole KB has 2b replaced. Somehow I don't quite believe that tho.

Just noticed (DUH!) it's been a yr since you posted this--What did you end up doing? (if you even see this at all;-)

  • Just had to pull the whole thing off,

    carefully without snapping it,

one of things that attaches it to the keyboard had broken off and was caught underneath stopping me being able to press down on it,

so i just got it out and stuck the space bar backk

  • YaY! now i just hve to work out how to fix my key thts next to s :( Orrrr, i need a new lptop. Probbly the latter.

  • can you post or say if this will play Crysis or BF2 or something like that, cuz im thinking of this guy soon, but im getting the new one with 45nm 2.4ghz cpu!

  • Wow, thanks a lot! Trick works perfectly with my Toshiba. I was trying to fix my spacebar for 4 hours but then I saw this vid and I fixed it in 5 minutes. Awesome job!

  • Thanks for posting this; it helped me fix a dodgy enter key which had gotten some grit underneath it. Like somebody else said, the trick is just getting the nerve to pop off the keys for the first time.

  • Man, great trick you've discovered there. THis trick works on the sony S-series. I own the S560p and this fixed my spacebar problem. Thanks SO much for posting this tutorial.

  • holy shit mann...... a few days ago i thought i just screwed my sz484(sony's best till now).......which i had been gifted on my 17th b'day !!!!! just imagine.........i thought my rough handling did something to the spacebar!!!!!! than god,........i saw this video..........it works wonders mann........the whole humanity is thankful 2 u!!!!!!!

  • thank you so much!!! You've been very helpfull to us owners of the best notebook available in the market!!!

So far that was the only problem that I found in the pc, and thanks to you, now it's working great! That f* spacebar was driving me nuts!!

I've just done it and it's working great!

In case anybody wants 2 know, it took a little piece of paper, folded it until it got about 1 milimeter thick, and using some tape I sticked it beneath the key.

  • ..ghetto

  • this looksgreat. myfreaking spacebar is driving me nuts. but what isthatlittlethingyouputhere?helppleeeeeeaaase

  • Wonderful. I was about to take my Vaio down to the repairers!

  • for a freakin' expensive Vaio laptop, you'd think they would build something that can actually function

  • Great video. This trick worked very well on my dell. Thanks a lot.

  • I have the SZ381 and the spacebar is still troublesome. I doesn't seem quite as bad as the SZ in the video. Not sure I have the nerve to pop the spacebar off of my new SZ, it's such a fragile baby.

  • Class, thanks for that. Now I just have to work out how high that bit in the middle is..

  • Thank god! It worked on my dell... after i called them, and they suggested changing out the whole keyboard.

  • It work's very well thank you, now only if i had a sony vaio sz.

  • Oh, this is just great, I used a bit of folded up paper with blu tac on the end. And now I can type all the spaces I want

    thankyou

  • question, does the new SZ3xx have the same problem?

    thank you in advance!

  • im feeling you all on this. thankyou

  • im so happy i might cry.

  • Is that a common problem on the SZ series? Hope it's fixed on the SZ2 series...

  • Cool fix. I just used an eraser and an exactoknife, worked well also. Almost too well.

  • Fantastic fix - just takes nerve to actually snap off the space bar. Saved me ten day turnaround for fix by sony! Brilliant! Thanks!

  • Very nice, before I was a bit afraid of breaking something. Now it's working. Thank you!

  • Works very well! Thank you!
