@alibasol the only thing i do not like about Ataturk is that he diminished Turkey's identity. Examples include changing the turkish alphabets and "secularization" which essentially meant adopting "values" of the powers that fought against the ottoman empire and Turkey. No matter what, the ottomans remain an integral part of the Turkish society. Ataturk believed Turkish values were backward and wanted Turks to become "western" i.e Europeans. I think this was wrong and unacceptable.

The General Tarchaneiotes betrayed the Emperor and fled, leaving the Emperor with ONLY 20,000 troops to fight the Battle. The Byzantine Empire has NEVER had a 600,000 man army in its entire history.
