Just some questions: the dancing hominids were 3D models animated by using PFTrack mocap on dancer's one camera footage? And those shadows were made in the same program too?
great vid! Ive been having trouble with mini dv footage with boujou and syntheyes, ive done about 10 tutorials and am now trying PFTrack - my point is that I get a fair amount of slipping! My question for you is do you use a HD camera? I am wondering if that makes the difference.
Hmm... ok thanks. I have done some great tracks that work perfectly within the tracking program, (the box or human model sticks) but when I bring it into 3DS the thing goes nuts on me. I match frame rates and all but it just doesn't seem to work very well. Some moments do some don't. PS im using a panasonic DVX 100a which is a 3CCD camera with a nice lens... Back to the drawing board I guess. Oh one more thing, did you use 3DS?
Well first I recorded the movie. Then imported it into PFTrack. Did the tracking and got myself some good points on the table. Then I exported the 3Ds Max script and imported it in 3Ds Max. Then I just added a plane on the table with matt material (invisible) and put the bipeds on the plane and gave them mocaps dances. Added some light and thats it.
nice, but why not only one of your lights that cast shadows, i think should look more natural that way. But good job, btw im thinking of trying PFTrack myself. how long did it take to track this clip?
Have not tried boujou yet but from comments around the net PFTrack is the program used by most artists and companies making CG effects for movies and stuff. Don't know if its true but the program itself is very easy to use for beginners even if it still offers a great deal of options for more advanced stuff.
I followed the tutorial here on youtube and this is the result.

not that i am the best at modeling animating etc but the shadows are kind of screwed up closer to the end

@Grant5321
They are closer to reality at the end because the lamp has four lights. You are probably comparing it with sun light like most people.

haha no I used my sister normal camera with record function. Thats why the image is so crap and not because of youtube.
If you watch my video you get a slip at the end. The characters and the car slides alittle bit when I get close to the table and starts moving down.
