Most Muslims genuinely do not know how evil the Islamic ideology really is. It completely depends on how you difine evil and what is evil from your own perspective. As for me, evil is anything which involves bringing harm of any kind to another human being. As per my knowlege and information, there is not a single relegion supporting evil. All the major relegions support peace and harmony. All the relegions prohibits theft, dishonesty, corruption, killing innocent people etc and on the other hand support peace and honesty.
Though i'm a muslim only because i was born in a muslim family, yet I do believe that Islam is lot more tolerant and peaceful relegion than it is projected and for certain it is exactly the same as Mohammad projected it without any hidden costs.
In my opinion, cruel treatment of kafirs living in Muslim countries is the key to understanding Islam. Muslim mobs attack kafir minorities in all Muslim countries. Here is a video about the Copts living in Egypt:
