  • what a glorious train wreck of a band!!!!!!!

  • Great song, but has Sensible forgotten the head from his womble suit?

  • @webgrecian Or maybe the boiler suit from his droog outfit? And you're absolutely right, a great song.

  • love this song .

  • they look ridiculous but they rock

  • Captain Sensible looks like the Honey Monster in this clip.

  • I like this :D I like this a lot....nope-now I love it <3

  • @cruentousmess agreed

  • this looks like lip sync.

  • @nilma99 it doesn't really matter if it is. they're performing and it's incredible

  • sensible is the best guitarist i've ever witnessed live... fucking legend.

  • Seen them twice live. Have Sesible's guitar plec (well one of them lol). They're legends, especially when you're in the Mosh pit at their gig :)

  • DAMNED...FUCKING GREAT BAND!!.

  • Dave Vanian has nice clothes

  • Superb performance, rarely surpassed by any band

  • Superb performance, rarely bettered by any band

  • worst

  • やったね!伝統の口パクライブ!TVショウはコレでなくちゃね!

  • Argentina punk rocker...

  • Way to prove your not playing live captain LOL

  • Haha, love the way the Captain's fretboard breaks off towards the end!

  • Great lip synching from the Damned! Rat isn't even trying to pretend!

    Love The Captain's outfit!

  • yeah!! love=it!!

  • this wonderfull cradle-song is for my love Fernanda ;-)

  • The strangest thing for me is that Vanian was the only one who wasn't obviously trying to show that they were miming.

  • They make it so obviouse they are miming the song. But still, The Damned are awesome.

  • the best song of damned

  • hahaha the Damned fucked up their heads!! yeah well and truely scared them shitless!! lmao

  • my god i havent heard this in forever..i love it

  • this looks soooo playback... especially the guitar playing.

  • the political imagery is to make people talk/debate. it works. .you don't actually think sioxi was a Nazi, do you ?. perhaps it goes over some peoples heads

  • D'you mean Siouxie from "S. & the Banshees"? (I'm pretty curious!)

  • I think it was less to encourage "debate" and more to go for a kneejerk shock reaction without much concern for how deeply disturbing this sort of imagery was for some people. This was only thirty years after Auschwitz and there was no lack of public awareness about the Nazis - every second film and children`s comic was full of Nazis for God`s sake. I don`t think that these punks were Nazis but I think they were happy to use Nazi imagery for shock value without caring who it offended.

  • I have it in my will to have this played my funeral....the best!

  • Nice audience...........

  • wow, what a strong dracula image for this song. dracula with some punk kids. they're silly but i like them.

  • ..and the way the "Good Captain's" guitar was barely in three pieces by the end !!

  • Ahhhh... One of the Classics.

Love the way Rat Scabies held one arm up in the air while pretending to drum. They were definitely having a real larf.

I'd like to laugh at the audience as well, but I probably looked like that then too.

  • the best punk rock band..greatest showmanship

  • good ole Cap, such a lovely bloke,

  • I can't believe those audiences could even stick their ass on the chair when listening to this one-of-the-best-punk-rock-song-in-history

  • now dont get me wrong i love this band but if its live how is the music still playing even after sensible breaks his guitar at 1:44

  • This is playback on tv show. Maybe on freaking 'Top of the Pops'

  • Wasn't that the point of breaking it?

  • Who are the Pistols or the Clash?

This is the best and they are only band from the first wave which is still great and not embarrasing. Presenter is the now famous

    german TV-Personality Thomas Gottschalk

  • they are the best. the other 2 are just overrated, & these new so-called punk bands are, just like the other person below pointed out, pop-punk excuses.

  • WTF? How can you even say that about The Clash, i mean The Damned Are A kick Ass Band , but you should never diss The Clash kid never. the revolution rock

  • The first two Clash albums had good songs.

The first couple of singles were good.

By 1979 it was over. Go and listen to your

Sandinista, Combat Rock and other crap they put out. It was

a good visiual image they had. Basicly a bunch

of wannabe Rockstars(Mick Jones), Reggae Fans

(Paul S.). Even in 1981 the Damned were

writing Songs as "Ignite". Recording Garage

Rock in 1984 as N. Nomad. They are still cool at their age now, while Joe Strummer played so called "World Music" with Mescaleros

  • joe strummer and almost every band members were total assholes, i've seen joe strummer's t-shirt with "brigade rose" written on it, i'm italian and brigate rosse wer communist assholes makng "justice" by themselves, and by the way it was written wrongly.this shows us how politically ingenuous they were.let me take a piece of the song punk is dead from crass:

    "CBS promote the Clash

Ain't for revolution, it's just for cash."

  • The Crass Punks Are Dead Totally Agreed For The Idea Not For The Music.

  • Punk/Metal bands (no matter how crass) have always used Communist/Nazi iconography - it doesn't make them Communists or Nazis...

  • no, it just makes 'em lool like total assholes...(like the pistols)

  • This band is awesome =D I just tried to listen to the new so called punk (which is pop actually I found out) and wow... I found punkrock died in the 80s T_T well The Damned still play =P and they still owned but I still love all their old stuff

  • Some bands like Rancid and the Dwarves carry the torch IMO (or DID into the 90's).. Operation Ivy? Very different but I must say, there are always bands that will supprise you. Punks not dead! *ahem*.

  • i love been a punk and this song says it all

  • Fabulous! Takes me back, thanks for adding this :)

  • great band

  • wicked. totally wicked.

  • this..... humans...... is about as good as it gets...distilled rockarolla....genius i love 'em.......

  • Brilliant - takes me back to my youth! The audience look like a bunch of freaked out geeks... how the fcuk can you sit absolutely still while the Damned play?

  • The thing I love about punk and what gives it its edge is the ambiguity. Was it a threat to society? Or just a bunch of lads (and gals) having a good laugh together. I don't think anyone ever really knew (including the participants)

  • Very well put

  • They just dont write love songs like this anymore......Perfection.

  • Saw them in Exeter @18 months ago - they were F****** STUNNING - Thx 4 posting :)

  • Just how gr8 is that lyric "I'll be the rubbish, you'll be the bin"?

  • It's a fact that their songs have rather intelligent and sometimes funny lyrics. They're great!

  • Theyre Lip Syncing

  • No shit.

  • You Think?

  • Wowie Zowie,no shit

    You ain't even got lips.

  • YEEE HAH!!! REAL music for all you RnB Rap twats out there!!!

  • yesssssss

  • totaly the best

  • the Damned are frekin awsome!!

  • Yes! Genius!
