It is very painful to watch pure grapple rs do mma because they have not stand up and since they dont, it is very dangerous for them. @ms1454 Hmm you should probably ask wrestlers like Shane Carwin, Cain Velasquez, Gray Mayndard, Randy Couture, Phil Davis, Rashad Evans, Dan Henderson, Chael Sonnen and Fankie Edgar that question. Hmm it seems that two of the belts are held by wrestlers. The #1 lightweight contender is a wrestler and the previous heavyweight champ was also a wrestler. And the last person to push Anderson Silva (was winning) was a wrestler.

Me being partial to the debate doesn't matter because the Olympic records support my points and EVERY wrestler I know (Americans included) acknowledge the superiority of the Soviets and their techniques over everyone else.

Still don't believe it? Why is it that Gene Mills's wrestling camp is named "CCCP Wrestling." I just did a camp there and he had a number of (former) Soviet wreslters and trainers there giving out advice on technique, form, how to train, conditioning, etc.

I don't see how the rules were changed to favor the style of the Russians. Weightlifting (impossible), wrestling (all practice the same style; no), boxing (maybe, but highly doubtable since most have the same style). Evidence is needed.

BUT I admit that there are a lot of politics involved in Olympic wrestling & I'll say it right now that Russians have won many matches they shouldnt have. Ex. Ara Abrahamian '04 Olymp.

I know Cael is the Iowa State wrestling coach and he does a good job. I'd love to see him in mma, with the proper training in the other areas he'd be a load to handle at either 185 or 205, I could see him competing for and winning a belt in one of those divisions. He'd have great training partners at extreme Couture if he makes the jump
