  • Yeah, I hope people are getting more aware - I mean, how many people were manipulated by editing into hating people on particular shows because of editing, no realising that they didn't have the full story? (I'm thinking of Wendy on Project Runway 1 - maybe she was that bad, but we can't know.) I think the Dragons must know it's happening, of course, but it must be annoying. If your pitch is interesting, it'll get on. Otherwise, don't waste time.

  • Reality TV isn't real. There was a show on Norwegian TV a bit like DD, but following more the concept of x-factor.The winner, who was presenting herself as a insecure stay at home mum who had a great idea for making life easier with everything electrical in the house centralized into one "box", turned out, to be a paid "actress" for a large Korean company. Should have rung a bell as she never seemed to memorize her script, and couldn't answer any questions without "checking" first.

  • @lillemegtralalei When these reality series' began their big climb here in the 90s, one show, Jerry Springer, garnered quite a following--it sort of made me feel that we were back in time, watching Christians getting fed to the lions...

There really is nothing new in this world, is there? LOL

    xxoo

  • @TheBlueRose2008 No, reality tv is just as staged as anything else. Everything is about telling stories. Haven't watched Jerry Springer in a long time, that was a freak show. ...adn that wasn't real either.

  • @lillemegtralalei It was brutal! No wonder I watch Trailer Park Boys re-runs, movies and cartoons--these entertainment isn't real and makes no bones about it

Springer spawned so many other 'Talk Drama' series, with the stupidest sleaziest topics, like "I am Sleeping with my Mother's Uncle's Nephews Cousin's Twin sister" Sounds real wholesome, doesn't it? xD

  • @TheBlueRose2008 I know it was boxing matches without gloves. I used to watch that in the middle of the night when I was a student and couldn't sleep. But then I got a job and have to get up early, so I don't watch things like that anymore. Just as well i think, it didn't exactly make me smarter :)

  • @lillemegtralalei bare knuckles, no holds barred fighting has a show- the Ultimate Warriors or some such thing, here. It's freaking HUGE!! And Wrestle Mania is coming up, don't forget. ;P

    NA loves it's Rasslin'!!

Dumb as hell but fun to watch.

    hehehe

A whack of Canadian wrestlers have become famous across the border...we seem to lose all out good comedians to the US, too...

    xxoo

  • @TheBlueRose2008 Wrestling is not my thing... don't like the violence, even if it's staged. But cat fights on Jerry Springer was just fascinating. LOL

  • @lillemegtralalei I hate wrestling, but have a hubster who loves it, so I can't help watching from time to time^^

Ahhh, the kitty fights1 "Get yo &^(B-ing hands off my man, you beee-ootchhh!! (pulls hair, throws chair, etc!)

    heehee

  • @TheBlueRose2008 That's the top of entertainment, right there. xD

  • @lillemegtralalei hvilket tv show snakker du om?(what tv show are you talking about)

  • @bjam89 "Skaperen" TV2 Season 1 :) Hey, there are more Norwegians here!

  • @lillemegtralalei ,@bjam89

    Yayyyyyy! ;)

  • @lillemegtralalei yes more from the good ol' Norway, the thing i recal the most is the cople that tried to sell the how to do stuff youtube ripp off, i recall it as i have met the dude and told him he was a cheater...he thanked me for having seen the show he was on before, the facepalm hurt my head for a week

  • @bjam89 OMG, I hope he didn't win 1 mill NOK as well..?

  • @lillemegtralalei no as the ones we can't talk about they were owt but for shitchand giggles skikkogbruk is thew name of the site, the guy told my class that the most important thing to be kind to people is (and i am not kidding you he really did say it before we spent one hour learning it) how you tie your tie, that is right the most important thing you can do is have a tie tied right, but not if you are a girl

  • @bjam89 Unbelievable what people make money from... This sounds like a guy that will end up in jail, though.

  • @lillemegtralalei he has a kid who was baptised in red wine, he really has the gift of hearing what he wants to hear and i mean really it is like a superpower if it is bad his brain do not pick it up and he is a cheat, he used a cheap ass tape recorder to tape the plans of the other team in the building a house show he was on...he was proud of breaking the rules and acting like a cheat

  • @bjam89 Oh, I remember him now. he's actually one of the worst reality contestants that I can remember. Others have behaved like AH too, but he was so smug and felt so good about himself doing it. I remember him crying because one of the other contestants had spoken bad about him behind his back. haha. At least they didn't win the house. (Who did he and his wife think would vote for them to win?!)

  • @lillemegtralalei yeah i met him...he every year go to this school, to teach about how to act civil, if he is civil i go for anarchy

  • @bjam89 agreed... Well, one can always learn from example how to not behave. But it's rather unbelievable that he make a living of this...

  • @lillemegtralalei humans are dumb, watch the episode of bus about sensitivety training or manners you will see humans are trying to behave not rude, sure i might not know what fork is used for what but i know how to act nice, and to me that is far more important then how many tie knots i can tie, or stuff like that, all the manners really are doing is dance around to seem more...elite and that don't cover the fact you are rude or an jerk in my eyes

  • @bjam89 Had to check up the story, it's a long time ago... It wasn't her design, but she had bought the distribution rights for a Korean design. She presented it as her own design, and repeated several times that she had come up with it. But she could never give a proper answer to an unexpected question. The Koreans didn't engage her, the fraud was all hers.

  • 3 thumbs? Man, you could give a chat on fairweather friends..I'm happy to know that the cool ones stuck with you, though.

    Good talk, BTW!

  • @WellHelloDali Got a point there, Dali....

  • Oh wait, even better... you can reenact all the pitches from each episode for us!

Don't forget the bald cap when you're playing Kevin!

(MISSES MY DEN, DAMNIT HOW COULD ONE SHOW BE SO HARD TO FIND ONLINE??)

  • @SurvivorCharlie Hmm-- play 5 Dragons and assorted presenters? Maybe those drama lessons will pay off after all!

I can get a flesh coloured bathing cap for 'Kevin', already have the Blue thing going on for 'Robert', can mimic our marketing Maven (and can cry really well ;P) , may need stilts to be the Pizza guru, but I know all his sayings and then some! Don't know about BW's replacement, tho, so I'll just appear serious and 'new'... =D

  • Okay, I purpose Rose put on her own version of Dragon's Den.

  • @SurvivorCharlie Dragons Den- Guelph. rofl...

  • hey... you're looking lovely today! fun stuff with the singing outro!

I was just going to mention the thing you already did in comments about Kevin and Robert accusing the lawyer of just that on this week's episode. I guess its just a side eefect of the popularity of the series after this many years. people see that even pitches that were rejected got more sales so there is that incentive to just get on air. Although on the other hand the Dragons could give your idea the kiss of death too

  • @RedroomStudios You said it well...I can just see all the new clauses in the season 6 contracts! 0-0

LOL glad you liked the haircut and...singing! Yeah, that's what it was! =D

    xxoo

  • I'n trying to become a best selling author, and not in the world these folks are in, but to see someone struggle, work and make it gives hope. To hear/see things like this sucks rocks. But when I see a real deal make it, it gives me hope. Its the same a show we have here, Pitchmen. Too bad there isnt a reality show for writing, but I guess watching someone type, and critque a manuscript isnt riviting t.v. LOL

  • @Cavillier1970 Writing is a personal adventure, anyway...I have written 2 novels and am planning another. It's hard work and if you get published, that is great. Mine efforts remain in a box for now, they need a second edit.

Best of luck with your endeavors and don't forget us little people ;D

  • The other day I saw the S1 wrap up show and saw these guys who had struck a deal for their business (a job finding service) seemed like a great idea and they got the $200,000 they wanted from all 5. (Is that what like $1,000,000 American? LOL) and when Jim, Kevin & Robert got their with lawyers and these guys & their former teacher who works with them, insulted the dragons, and Jim cause he has his own jet. Robert tore the check up and killed the deal. I'm wondering what they're on.

  • @Cavillier1970 3rd post-LOL

What that the entire meeting? It was about 6 minutes long

Bad prof dissing Jim and it pissed the men off big time, you never insult Jim. It's a crime. Robert rips up the cheque, Kevin's brain goes into over drive- Great bro bitchy drama! J Wood sat there like a stone. ;D

Dianne sounded dubbed over later. --I had it for my Classics series...dang, it was a gem ;pLOL

  • Man this sucks. But the other day, on a S2 repeat on CBC (of that show that is nameless here) a pitcher came out with a bad business idea and an insane evaluation ~proposal Robert dropped an anvil on the douche and said the same thing that he was looking for exposuer. For folks who are legit, looking for a real deal I hope they dont give up.

  • @Cavillier1970 Oh yeah, that lawyer dude.

    He was sketchy.

  • @MrFrozenCanuck No actually it was the two - then four guys in the orange ties. It was their former prof who got very insulting. At the 2nd meeting, the Dragons told the four there still could be a deal, but the prof had to go. They stayed with him (STUPIDS) and no deal. Once he took a shot at Jim re; his private jet, Robert went on the attack and tore the check apart. If I ever strike a deal with a publisher I know what not to do.

  • @Cavillier1970 Robert or Kevin nabbed a presenter on the last episode for this--the insane eval and possible exposure seeking...

I really hope the legit people stick with it, like you said...

    xxoo
