Neither JWP321, nor suckmypapertrash said a word defending Stalin. It might make sense in one of Glenn Beck's blackboard proofs, but your slander of JWP321 is untrue.
That being said, it's still a horrible crime. But I believe the intention was not to exterminate all the Ukrainian people, but to force collectivization upon them. Even if it was all predeterminated, it's very hard to prove. Stalin also could've taken advantage of the famine to exterminate the Ukrainian people, but why would he set up a famine that affects the whole Union?
So he took the crop out of the Ukraine and fed his own people. He never grieved the loss of the Ukrainian people because of their opposition towards the Soviet regime, so the effects of taking the crop out of the Ukraine turned out well for him. The problem was the communist economic policy that made the economy of the Soviet Union collapse due to a poor relation between industrial and agricultural products. Grain that Ukraine did have after the drought was burned by the Kulaks in protest. The USSR was a huge country, that had many other mouthes to feed. If the USSR gave even more grain to Ukraine, Most of it would of been burnt and would of resulted in more deaths through out the USSR.

@maneggl So its THEIR fault that they died from hunger?Dont be so blind...Stalin was a paranoid madman, he even exeucuted many of his best millitary commanders in the fear he might be "overthrowed" from power...it was his fault that the USSR was so unprepared in the begining of the war...and you say the grain was distrubuted to someone else...yes it was actually...it was exported to fund the industrialization.. Stalins purges and collectivizations resulted in at least 20 millions deaths.

my great grandfather was Ukrainian. Thank god that he emigrated out of the country before this happened, otherwise I probably won't be here right now. When I watched this, it was the very first time I heard of the Holodomor and I was completely shocked.

Our military made the Indonesian genocide in the seventies possible with finances, and we don't even bother to educate about Cambodia, Rwanda, Guatemala, etc. Physical education is mandatory, global consciousness is practically discouraged. It's no skeleton. Planned Parenthood is alive and well. Just recently Hilary Clinton has visited one of their location and told them she is a big fan of theirs!

Meanwhile, the adoption system is so effed up that it's easier to buy a house than a rescue a child. @nick10463 You might also want to look into taking some English classes at one of those departments you have fun railing against. Night classes for working adults are available at almost every school; you don't have to enroll as a full time student. You could also check out your local community college. They have some great classes, and you can save a good dollar.

Wrong, government intervention in the economy started early on and the progressive movement to bring about socioeconomic engineering did not start with T.Roosevelt. It is government regulation that results in the trend toward the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, as they regulate the small startups out of the market. Been doing this since day one of out government but they have put this on steroids this last century.

Read what society was like in Germany in 1930s. However, that interview with the Ukrainian pres. was done by the media in Germany to understand the man who wanted in the EU. Has anyone here been to university? I'm a History Major, also a Canadian for what its worth, and I have to think that if people were better educated they would see through the appeals to fear and slippery-slope fallacies. The irrationalism of the late 19th and early 20th centuries were responsible for great atrocities sure, but those atrocities have long since discredited these ideas to apply them to modern day is ridiculous. Its not news, Its propaganda aimed at the lowest common denominator.
