@TonyNewman Try putting a felt on the top side of the bottom hi hat cymbal so that both sides of it is surrounded by felts.

I bought these Meinl 14" Hi-Hat Cymbals, but when I play them closed they make this ugly thud sound that just sounds like you're beating on a plastic bowl or something. Any help?

Well you can't tune a cymbal so your kind of out of luck. My suggestion would be to play the cymbal your going to buy next time.

Lol....My general observation has been that "Expert" Village generally uses people with absolute minimal proficiency in the craft that they have supposedly mastered to the level of an Expert.
