Man I can't wait until summer. I was always a stem man, but I am going to try thumping my melons this year.

I did not grow them just bought some , and they were all good ,the ones from the grocerystore not so mutch

all you have to do is go up 290 to Hempstead (Houston Texas) look for the houase with watermelons piled in the yard , every one is perfict

@dumb7890 Hempstead watermelon. When I was a small boy back in the fifties, my grand dad would drive up from Bryan and College Station and get those watermelons.

The video is very informative, but the music makes it harder to hear everything that is being said. I feel that you edit out the music.

hollow sound????? wouldnt that mean its over ripe or hollow hearted??? i think he was trying to make a sale on a over ripe melon

I had an old man show me the trick, lay a broomstraw sidways across the mellon, if it spins and turns longways with the melon its ready. Never fails.
