the only part that could be used on an actual firearm would be the picatiny rails and the carry handle. even then i still wouldn't want to use parts from a toy on an actual weapon.
it is possible to put an AR-15 upper on an airsoft gun lower. This is possible, but only with Inokatsu and Prime GBBRs, and even then, getting a real trigger set in there might be difficult, and in addition to that Prime receivers are weaker than real AR-15 receivers and Inokatsu guns cost somewhere around $1000.
U can turn one inti real gun its been proved. The reason for using airsoft gun is for unmarked untracable recievers. Even though possible they have never been used in a crime. So this is really stupid. Atleast people play airsoft instead of using real guns.

@laksjdfhgirnvi This "professional agency" knows absolutly nothing about airsoft. I am a technician who fixes and upgrades these guns regularly. King 5 did a similar report on this and even asked a professionl gun tech who works on real guns to try and convert one and he couldn't do it with training and tools, let alone "minimal effort". The internals on these guns, even GBBs, are just not built to fire live rounds, or be converted to. Besides, King Arms has already released an ATF approved GBB.
They atf are too humiliated to admit that they couldnt look at a toy and tell the difference so they used the orange tip and full auto lower receiver lie to try to cover their asses
that is so dumb they are light weight plastic. i have held both at same time the real made from weapons grade light wieght plastic materials and the toy. the toy is way to weak to handle a real bullet. the barrel is super thin and would split from the pressure not to mention the rest of the gun. it is not convertible by no means other than completely rebuilding the whole thing in which it would be cheaper to buy a real one flat out.
The ATF was not created by Obama and just like it was there before him it will still be there when he is long gone. He did not personally wait in ambush for the shipment and seize it. A president has more pressing issues to deal with. As any other leader the president delegates work to other people/agencies which ATF is one of and any mistakes made are the fault of those individuals. If less people were trying to find a scapegoat then those responsible would actually be punished.

Gun law in Asia is realy strict. However, we're lucky as airsoft (AEG, GBB or even GBBR) are legal as they're considered as toys rather than fire arms as they can't kill people. We enjoy the sport here without any hassle from either the government or police. However, some have used them wrongly (robbing convenient stores) and they're either in jail or shot dead. To make this short, you gotta be very stupid to convert one into firing real rounds or use them in something illegal. Peace!

ATF has banned WE M4's. They CAN be fire real rounds and has been proven to. Contact ATF for details. You only need the lower to fire real rounds. It has nothing to do with aesthetics.

In order to convert it as you say "With a true upper reciever" you would also need to buy a real barrell, a real stock, a real buffer tube, a real pistol grip, a real real bolt assembly, a real magazine, a real feeding mechanism and real rounds. That sounds a lot like just buying a real gun. So if you happen to have a real gun lying around and a firearms license then yes I suppose you could.

@StarCorpsProductions The WE gas M4s can be modified and combined with a real AR upper can be used to fire off rounds. It's to easy to modify the lower and trigger group with a real one.
ATF has banned WE gas M4s and that store knows it, why they try and import it is beyond me. Their own fault.

So if you have a firearms license anyway, then what's the point of taking the sights and MAYBE the stock, depending on the model of gun, and using it on a real gun, which, by the way, is very different than "converting" an airsoft gun.

Yes it's not a good source for a full auto weapon and not the easiest and best way to get a working AR but the fact of the matter is that you CAN modify it to fire and that is what makes it illegal.

@youngdickinsonharris For one, who would illegally get a gun and then convert the already functional gun using parts from a toy? With that logic anything is a weapon. You could duct tape a nerf gun to a real gun but that doesn't mean it can be turned into a firearm. Heck, a stick can kill someone. You can modify a potatoe gun to kill people but taking away anything that when altered has the potential to be dangerous, is taking away our freedom.
@StarCorpsProductions I don't think you understand. It's the fact that it is CAPABLE of doing it is why it's illegal.
It's the same reason why it's illegal to own hollow dummy silencers because you CAN use it for at least one shot to silence it.
Who knows why criminals do what they do but you can never rule out a dumb enough getting access to a WE and dropping in real components. You need a license for a lower not an upper nor small parts.
@youngdickinsonharris Your airsoft AEGs and electric guns are and will be just fine. The WE guns are made to close to the real thing and that is WE's fault. They were warned by many people not to make it how they did and they got burned in the end.
If you want scientific and complete data send in a WE gas blowback rifle to the ATF for examination and they'll send you documentation and tests (about a 5 page packet of tests and how they performed it with in-depth details.)
@youngdickinsonharris Legally, you have to be 18 to buy an airsoft gun, and at that age you legally can buy a semi-automatic assault rifle. And the one thing people neglect to acknowledge is the fact that the receiver of the WE M4, or any airsoft gun, is not set up to accommodate the firing mechanism of a real gun, and even if it could, the receiver is not strong enough to take the impact and would shatter after the first shot.

And I'm not talking about using the WE upper and barrel assembly. You can use the WE lower receiver to fire rounds after modification and using a REAL upper. All the lower receiver does is house the trigger assembly and hold the magazine. It's why the SCAR, MP5s, and other weapons use plastic lowers. So no the WE lower wold not shatter at all.

Point is you CAN modify the lower to accept a real trigger group and that's why it's illegal. Plain and simple. Does not matter who, what, and when.
@DopeyShadey If by .22 you mean 6mm and by shotgun you mean multiple BB's coming out of the barrel, then yes. But the truth is, there is not a way to get the internal components of a gas blowback airsoft gun to fire real rounds. The bullet couldn't fit in the chamber, the barrel would need to be swapped out, and the internals are built to handle propane, CO2, or geen gas, not live rounds.

That is so stupid! If you take an m4 and somehow make it fire a 5.56 mm round then it might have to be full metal! But even then you wouldn't have the necessary parts! And if you took a normal airsoft gun its made of part plastic, part metal, and part polymer which is plastic! But tougher! And these guns are not toys any airsoft player like myself knows that! Gun law in Asia is realy strict. However, we're lucky as airsoft (AEG, GBB or even GBBR) are legal as they're considered as toys rather than fire arms as they can't kill people. We enjoy the sport here without any hassle from either the government or police. However, some have used them wrongly (robbing convenient stores) and they're either in jail or shot dead. To make this short, you gotta be very stupid to convert one into firing real rounds or use them in something illegal. Peace!

ATF has banned WE M4's. They CAN be fire real rounds and has been proven to. Contact ATF for details. You only need the lower to fire real rounds. It has nothing to do with aesthetics.

Blindly tying Obama and Holder to this issue (as though everything in the federal gov't was perfect and logicl before January 2009) just makes the rest of us (who have issues with things that Obama and Holder are *actually* involved with) look stupid. @ricky6bubbles You do know that you need a firearms license to purchase an actual receiever don't you? In order to convert it as you say "With a true upper reciever" you would also need to buy a real barrell, a real stock, a real buffer tube, a real pistol grip, a real real bolt assembly, a real magazine, a real feeding mechanism and real rounds. That sounds a lot like just buying a real gun. So if you happen to have a real gun lying around and a firearms license then yes I suppose you could.

Lower was also thinner than a true ar 15 lower which I would assume wouldnt hold up to the pressure of real ammunition. Not for many shots even if it did. Let them get away with this and anybody with metal and a machine shop could be charged with possession of a machine gun.

The modifications to the receiver would have left it inoperable. So in your theory they should ban semi automatic m4s because it is based on a modified m4 lower. I would like to know how you "know" they were m4 receivers in the first place. You are just the normal know it all dumb ass person on youtube.

@StarCorpsProductions if you know what your doing cause is sounds like the id od are the same to an ar-15 rifle but there the quality of the steel of the barrel the alloy of the action but it all most looked like it was reamed out to 5.66 case i could see a 22 cal kit but the trigger is probably plastic gear box this would need the work of a serious gun smith iam just a student

@StarCorpsProductions The WE gas M4s can be modified and combined with a real AR upper can be used to fire off rounds. It's to easy to modify the lower and trigger group with a real one.
ATF has banned WE gas M4s and that store knows it, why they try and import it is beyond me. Their own fault.

So if you have a firearms license anyway, then what's the point of taking the sights and MAYBE the stock, depending on the model of gun, and using it on a real gun, which, by the way, is very different than "converting" an airsoft gun.

@StarCorpsProductions Yes that is true, however, people who acquire guns illegally can have a working unregistered and full auto lower with easy mods.
Yes it's not a good source for a full auto weapon and not the easiest and best way to get a working AR but the fact of the matter is that you CAN modify it to fire and that is what makes it illegal.
I'm an airsofter myself so I'm not trying to bash it. Funny part is they would have got away with it if they had orange tips.

You could duct tape a nerf gun to a real gun but that doesn't mean it can be turned into a firearm. Heck, a stick can kill someone. You can modify a potatoe gun to kill people but taking away anything that when altered has the potential to be dangerous, is taking away our freedom.

@StarCorpsProductions I don't think you understand. It's the fact that it is CAPABLE of doing it is why it's illegal.
It's the same reason why it's illegal to own hollow dummy silencers because you CAN use it for at least one shot to silence it.
Who knows why criminals do what they do but you can never rule out a dumb enough getting access to a WE and dropping in real components. You need a license for a lower not an upper nor small parts.
Don't bring in politics and freedom into this.

@youngdickinsonharris Your airsoft AEGs and electric guns are and will be just fine. The WE guns are made to close to the real thing and that is WE's fault. They were warned by many people not to make it how they did and they got burned in the end.
If you want scientific and complete data send in a WE gas blowback rifle to the ATF for examination and they'll send you documentation and tests (about a 5 page packet of tests and how they performed it with in-depth details.)

@youngdickinsonharris Legally, you have to be 18 to buy an airsoft gun, and at that age you legally can buy a semi-automatic assault rifle. And the one thing people neglect to acknowledge is the fact that the receiver of the WE M4, or any airsoft gun, is not set up to accommodate the firing mechanism of a real gun, and even if it could, the receiver is not strong enough to take the impact and would shatter after the first shot.

@StarCorpsProductions I'm not talking about legal bro, you don't get it, a criminal can get his hands on a WE lower and convert it. Anyone can.
And I'm not talking about using the WE upper and barrel assembly. You can use the WE lower receiver to fire rounds after modification and using a REAL upper. All the lower receiver does is house the trigger assembly and hold the magazine. It's why the SCAR, MP5s, and other weapons use plastic lowers. So no the WE lower wold not shatter at all.

Besides, the ATF took the guns not because you could use parts suck as the lower receiver and put them on a real gun. They claim that you could just slap a real firing mechanism in the receiver and start pumping out rounds, which is absolutly ludicrous.

Point is you CAN modify the lower to accept a real trigger group and that's why it's illegal. Plain and simple. Does not matter who, what, and when.

@DopeyShadey If by .22 you mean 6mm and by shotgun you mean multiple BB's coming out of the barrel, then yes. But the truth is, there is not a way to get the internal components of a gas blowback airsoft gun to fire real rounds. The bullet couldn't fit in the chamber, the barrel would need to be swapped out, and the internals are built to handle propane, CO2, or geen gas, not live rounds.

@StarCorpsProductions Technically the ATF is right in their assessment that these could be converted to real weapons. But only if you remember what a gun legally is.
They are talking exclusively about the receiver section of the weapon. The receivers on these guns could technically be modified to accept a real ar15 fire control group and upper receiver. this is stupid of course but legally they are right. If they had just come out and said this they wouldnt have sounded as stupid as they did
