I know there are some 'interesting' debates going on this comment page, and I'll say that I enjoy hearing Dr Tyson every chance I get. But I started laughing when I realized hes not wearing shoes on stage, or he took them off at some point!
Sticks it to the fundamentalist attitude right there in the first minute of this video. That's your future, America, unless you toss all religious material right-the-fuck out of your schools and start educating your damn kids!

@Andysingtoyou inteligence is only useful if you employ and teach that your knowlege. neil teaches, and publishes and does further research. your creator...well, he barely gives us a clue if he even exists. and for all the knowlege that he has, he keeps it secret. leving us lowly humans to struggle with with the knowlege only we gain, and then taking credit for the "right knowlege" and throwing oyu into hell for the "wrong knowlege".

@SubMeSub No you're right but your example is unrealistic. In reality, the majority of the population tends to gravitate around the average, either slightly above or slightly below, with the average acting as a median most of the time.
I don't understand second point. "Half schools is below average" because if you have few very good schools you can still have half below average. Example (5,5,5,5,1 avrg. = 4,2 and four is below average)

There is no Nobel Prize in Economics. There is a prize in memory of Alfred Nobel, given by other people different than the Nobel Foundation.
