As an atheist I couldn't care less about what his religious pursuasions are. The main thing is that he seems like a decent guy and its so refreshing to see someone giving something back :)
ROLLGRAB makes a worthy point: why is it that we human beings will put up with anything? I guess we feel safer with the devils we know than the angels we don't. Why do women stay with abusive boyfriends? The armchair moralists aren't comfortable with these questions.
But... many people, despite their intent, can't improve their lives alone. They need help. ROLLGRAB himself admitted this unwittingly when he said that Americans should find American charities to give to.
They can stop having fucking babies, why is it anyones responsibility toraiseupanyone elses "mistake" (so you can create a hoarde to overrun our nation, which is obviously acceptable to you as you want them at my house?)as your vaunted Presidential choice put it sooooo eloquently?Sorry we cannot have this discussion b/c you would always be "right".I just say we should keep our business at home str8, at this point in time, we are viewed as the fault of everything and receive no credit for our good
your a fucking right wing twat arnt you? i sincerely hope you change your ways and your mental attitude, and if not i hope there is a fitting punishment in this life after it.
The organization has helped save many lives by providing clean drinking water. What the fuck have you done for humanity instead of piss on the efforts of others?
From the video: "it's actually the #1 reason why girls drop out of school -- because there's no water or toilets at their school."
So, apparently, small things like clean water, food, etc., are a prerequisite to education. Perhaps you might find it educational to peruse Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs.
Freedom is also important. But from the USA? The United States donates untold amounts of food, medicine, etc. to the people of Africa. Now, this hasn't ended hunger, but to say that we're "robbing" them doesn't ring true.
America hasn't created the political corruption that plagues and impoverishes Africa. Poorly drawn borders, post-colonial power vacuums, Cold War manipulation, etc. all are more important. Suffice to say, your view that the US is to blame is one of many. And not a likely one.
If you have ever made a difference to another human being in the way this man has, you cant help but feel joy. Maybe you should start doing something just in your own community let alone in a foreign country to see exactly how he feels. You dont get into something like that and expect a pay off, however he has found the true meaning in that it is better to give than to receive.
why he don't look at her, i dislike shy people like that, they are not expressive at all, all he does is talking withhis head down looking at the floor
Great pick this week, Rez, great to finally hear this guy speaking.
I´m wondering, though, if you asked him about one of the latest "magical" water-purifiers shown all over the net, like the "Cow shit to clean water" one:
watch?v=ycEnu9p1GPE
There´s another excellent purifier on TED Talks, can´t remember the name.
I guess these devices should have a MAJOR impact on what he does.
LOL , clean drinking water in exchange of dims , gold etc. That bro doesn't look like he pays everything with his American express . Lori give a straight answer how much he makes profit for saving people live. Look i'm living alien in Sweden , got no job, no social support soon they will cut water , elect. heating etc. Lori get him down here to me . Cheers
This is why the Global Elitists devise ways for people to die(wars, lab created viruses like H1N1, etc)...because there isn't enough food & water for the world.
Great video! Reminds me of a student at MIT that made a device that purifies the water using a gallon of bleach. Once a month they change the gallon bottle to get clean drinking water. The students have to build a low tech device for villages like this. Another girl made a washing machine run by a bicycle. The women wash their clothes by peddling the bike instead of having to stoop at the river's edge. Awesome stuff.
This is a good video. I am glad his organization "teaches a man to fish" as opposed to just giving water. I wonder if they watch to see the local governments don't mishandle any money given to build / maintain the water projects.
The governments are not given the money to build the water projects, the organization hires the contractors themselves and they handle the build. Every dollar goes to building water solutions.
thanks for bringing attention to people who are doing good things. i just made a video for the Cheetah Conservation Fund. They, too, are doing great things to make the planet a better place.
I agree. You need to have the link for the video in the sidebar. This will increase the likelihood of people learning more about the charity. Link in the sidebar for any charity you promote to make it most effective
Exactly, right after the video ends, i open the sidebar to check for links. The only link found was her own, so i just closed the video. Had there been a link to the site i may have done a little browsing.
Very touching Lori. This was a really great interview. God bless that guy. one hundred percent goes to the cause. That's selfless charity as it should be.
yes yes its great that the poorest people finally get clean water, but what if the aquifers run out? i mean there must be SOME type of environmental impact
Good work , I will donate and will promote this website to every one who is ready to listen. I will be your promotion horn...

That's because we've done nothing but manipulate poor nations since the US's rise to power.
Ever hear of the Cold War?
They aren't educated about family planning, which is why we need to help them understand it. Once they do, they won't have so many babies.

You would think these people would spend their time trying to get out of a region with no drinkable water.
Incredible to choose to bring a child into that is not only irresponsible; but, despicable.

no, your despicable for saying that.

I agree. They should all get in the SUVs and come over to your place. You're such a genius, and SO generous.
I do hope you're ready for them... all of them. There are only about 1.1 billion in total, so you might want your neighbours to help out a bit.
But feeding and housing them won't be any kind of a problem I'm sure, and you'll hardly notice the effect they have on the jobs market in your area.

Real change for "the poor" would be to stop exploiting them in the name of free market capitalism and it's cold hunt for maximum profit.

Scott's services may be needed in the US sometime in the near future.
According to the EPA, water, in the US, is being contaminated faster then can replenished.
As it stands, Washington, Oregon and California get their water from Canada, almost free of charge.
