I think I like Stewart Lee far more...however, and whilst I agree some parts were horrible, heckling in general doesn't tend to end well and doing stand-up is probably the most horrifying thing to me...ever. So, for him taking it on for as long as he did, and then getting pissed off and a bit nasty isn't that surprising to me. I'd have told him to fuck off in the first instance, and have gotten security called.

I think you're right; Richard let the heckler get under his skin, and you can see how much he's being thrown off by it. There are some great lines in there (I love the 'bring your own amplification system' bit), but there are some fairly poor ones too. I suppose you're going to drop the ball a few times if you're ceaselessly heckled for ten minutes. He could probably have handled the situation better, but he was in an impossible position really. The bloke should have been thrown out earlier.
The range of emotions going across Herring`s face as the confrontation develops is a drama in itself.
Cutting the guy off as he`s telling his joke was a clever sidestep, but I`m wondering how good the joke about the farm was, poss. it would have been a better tactic to let him say it & see what came out.
Herring owes the guy a favour as with the short version of this on YT at almost a million views it hasn`t done his career any harm.

If your a professional you should be ready for hecklers. pieceomeat quit defending someone, who made living joking on everyone else. There a line between joking and ally trying to hurt someone. That why people walk out. You can be funny and still rip a heckler.

And if it is any consilation, I think Richard Herring dealt with it very well. I'd like to see anyone else do better in that situation, because he certainly didn't have alot of support from the audience.

fucking HATE hecklers- why do they do it? theyre cunts....i had a go at a heckler in the break at the last stand up gig i went to haha...maybe it wasnt the smartest thing as he was twice my height rough skinhead guy.... but i told him "thanks for fuckin spoiling the last act for us mate..." etc- luckily he wasnt waiting for me outside after the gig haha... maybe next time i'll only have a go at tiny midget hecklers just to be safe though :P
