Thanks DocMartin, Great footage. At the time of filming I was in a speed boat with 3 others off the coast of South Lantau Island (near Cheung Chau).
We were heading home after a gorgeous lunch down at the Stoep (Cheung Sha beach) and the storm hit us on our 20 min ride back to DB. ... and yes, ... O.. M..G..!!! We are aware of how lucky we are that we weren't struck.
I had been looking for some documentation to show how unbelievable the storm was, so thanks for posting this..
For the early part, I was outside, w sky above: but saw the lightning was flashing across the sky, rather than to ground.
Once storm was really underway, I was filming from on porch, so had a roof over me (so there are some branches in foreground - but I wasn't about to head to open space at that time!)
they say if your out walking and a thunder&lightning storm happens just lie on the floor apparrently

I was told of a boat mast being hit in Sai Kung; caught fire (and fire brigade called?) - so think you were indeed lucky.
