Nobody in this movie, for example, was actually riddled with bullets or had their spine broken - it's an act. The intent is to entertain and tell a story (however shallow), rather than actually harm. Similarly, when my Ork Nobs tear into a squad of Space Marines, shattering their morale and sending limbs flying, not a single person (or Ork) is actually getting hurt. Behind the scenes, a bunch of numbers are being crunched, and some polygons are cycling through some animation presets.
Now, in Iraq, actual people are actually getting hurt, maimed, tortured and killed. Actual bullets and tank shells are zipping through the air and taking people's heads off, actual bombs are exploding, actual lives are ending and being ruined. The intent of warfare is to harm, not entertain, and my opinion is that whether or not a war has a goal or purpose is completely irrelevant. It's expensive, amoral and barbaric.
I live in Paris and was at the filming of this movie. I agree with everybody else, it's a great movie and extremely well done. David Belle (main character; dark hair) and I lived in the same neighbourhood.

Major problem with this movie is the first half hour has all the good action scenes. Still quite an entertaining movie, but I couldn't help but be disappointed with the lack of any more significant parkour or cool kung fu/gunfights after the two character introductions.

for all u hu aint scene it its actually a french film called banlieu 13 (banlieu=district)so the snidey remarks about the americans are out the window and its a film, not real-life, so get over the fact that one guy can beat all those men... besides, the films MINT and the free-running chases are cool. Major problem with this movie is the first half hour has all the good action scenes. Still quite an entertaining movie, but I couldn't help but be disappointed with the lack of any more significant parkour or cool kung fu/gunfights after the two character introductions.
