my brother and i built one of these in about 3 or 4 days, about the same size, but we used pins on the track for the weight as opposed to the pvc pipe, and ours was more similar to the texas tech design, but not bad work
im just saying im not overly impressed and you seem to think that your trebuchet is god and no one else could make anything like it. you seem pretty dang cocky.
Wow it took that many people 2 months of work to build that... kinda looks like a bunch of 2x4s, rope and a dumbell. Don't be so full of yourself danhenriques85.
How do you design the sling to hold on to the ball for the upward acceleration, then let it fall off once it has momentum? Is it just pure centrifugal force that's "pushing" it off of the sling?
hi, im trying to duplicate your catapult/ trebuchet i was wondering what did yu use for the sling or what is it and where can i buy it i have to use it for my physics class?
Could this be made into a miniature trebuchet around 3 feet tall? i have a tech class where we have to build a trebuchet and i think this would blow away the competition.
Hey, eye of the tiger isn't a bad song at all, it's jsut horribly overused. Personally I would of preferred the LION song "Forgotten Sons" which is awesome and still matches the history of the awesome former killing tool turned toy.
I wanted to watch this video, as I often watch the various "siege weapon" videos, but you've put "Eye of the Tiger" on which is just such an awlful song.
@Luddiver im not 100% sure but i think its a small metel rod that a loop would go over with just a slight bend halfwaay down to make a sort of open hook the the loop wont slip of of until it pulls upwards
Really nice construction on this one. But you definitely need a longer sling for good distance. It was about half as long as it should have been by my observations.
I dont know what kind of tampon-inserter you ladies are trying to construct, but this machine can do some real damage. Also, if you were paid close attention you'd have noticed you can change the trajectory quite easly. Look at the last throw, perfect 45 degree 'lob' for you.
@danhenriques85 The FAT isn't the most efficient design you can find, their is a combo of the FAT and something called a king Arthur trebuchet( called the FAKA) which allows you to get your counterweight up at a full 180 degrees allowing for maximum drop, it can get nearly 1 1/2 times the distance as an FAT with the same variables.
arent u supposed to have it wobble the least when it hits the ground. i have never built a floating arm treb only hindged so i dont no if its diffrent
This video totally was what I was looking for. @danhenriques85 can you tell me if it's a fixed fulcrum trebuchet?

I'm not sure who asked for your opinion killerzippo7. It was a school project for an engineering class, so take the haterate somewhere else you dick.

I'm trying to design a trebuchet, myself.

Horrible Song - f--ing eye of the tiger?!

Hey guys, it's Eric.
I haven't seen the video for a while. It's blocked in Germany cause of the soundtrack I think. I'm in malaysia right now and there it is.
It was a fun time. I remember we weren't going for it at all on the competition day.
It was a fun year. Goood memories.
Shiza man.

how do u make one of the parts of the rope leave the arm? U know so that your projectile leaves in the right angle?

shouldnt your projectile leave at a 45 degree angle?

i think this is too much hassle but very cool but i much prefur the original and best way i mean checky on hew kennedy trebuchet on youtube

This is an engineering competition it's not just about making the simplest machine possible.

very easy to make a FAT 0.o

It's interesting that you say that but where did you do the calculations for a floating arm trebuchet.
JamesThWilliams 2 years ago
maybe if you had a longer arm you could of won! : ) haha
Epiphone101 2 years ago
What were the requirements of the competition?
If you were going for range, it looked like you could have used a longer sling, but It's been a few years since I've built a FAT.

great job guys. i dont believe i seen the other teams break their targets lol

the floating arm trebuchet is not midevil, it was invented in the 1990's

great vid and trebuchet. i loved how you destroyed their targets. and what did greg get pulled over for???? :)

the firing pin is a long piece of wood? wudnt it have been easier to span it across instead of to the ground?

Lol the first shot like fired at a very bad low angle... well... it looked bad.

@danhenriques85 45 degrees only perfect in a vacuum.

I agree with shroom. the purpose of a trebuchet is to lob objects, not just throw them directly at the ground

i dont think so
since the weight stays in the center
xxdonatelloxx 2 years ago
yes your right there is no need for the rocking action and even if they added wheels to the bottom it wouldn't have moved.

I'd love to see what adjustments you can make with that treb.
Could you even make the range vary?
A real beauty. 5 stars.
