I just started barefooting hiking and running, and like you say, it's not for everyone, but I like it and I, like you, can do it. I've been at it for about a month. I went into the forest on rough trail with lots of little rocks I never noticed the previous times I walked on it with shoes, and it really made me aware of the Earth. I had to turn back, but I did hold out for one mile. I am hoping I can hike the trail barefoot someday. My feet feel more flexible and stronger.
I bet it took a little extra patience to deal with those newscasters.
