  • The genius of Paul Simon, God bless'm

  • ya gotta listen to the keyboard in the background!

  • He got the idea for this from the song "Rock Isand line". Him and Art were smoking joints and Simon got into how Rock and Island pretty much meant the same thing, and he used that to write the lyrics as an explanation.

  • I build walls

  • i heard this song when i first had breakup..this song still survives inside me

  • This my children is the ultimate break-up song. Especially when it was her idea.

  • @TurnpikecIII If were all your children, then you must be a medium sized slut

  • Pretty sure this video's got a meaning to the Rock Island Group. It's just a marketing thing; the visuals have nothing to do with the meaning of the song, I think.

  • My 8th grade teacher showed us this song and now I can't get it out of my head it's awesome.(:

  • @angiedavilatv same thing happened to me except it was my 9th grade teacher

  • damn good song

  • I like the song but I do not understand the video.

  • My interpretation of the meaning of this song would be someone that has been hurt and let down too many times. Thus, will not allow it to happen again. If you listen to the last 2 verses it explains it to me. Whether I'm right or not that's how I understand it??

  • @kokosmom1

Yes, that's about the SONG, "but I do not understand the VIDEO". i.e. The dancing papers.

  • @kokosmom1 Your understanding is sound, in my opinion.

  • I totally agree! There's no understanding to be done..makes no sense, not to me anyway considering the lyrics? Maybe some hidden meaning to S & G??

  • @kokosmom1 They are hidden

  • @kokosmom1 - What are you kidding me? It makes no sense? It makes complete sense. He is speaking how he deals with fear, and the greatest fear of all, heartbreak. The lyrics are very clear on that. I really thought this was a tremendous sound because when you think about it, a guy who is 5 foot tall writing these songs and they going out in public takes a tremendous amount of balls. It isn't like today where you can hide behind lip synching and put out a video.

  • feelin, groovy here..........

  • hes sad because his name is garfunkel

  • im going to the simon and garfunkle concert in auckland!

  • wen's ther a concert in auckland? i just came from there...

  • Wow! don't you like to keep hearing this kind of music all over the airwaves, it's really so refreshing & you feel so light on your heart that it's goin to be a nice day ha!ha!ha!!!

  • Thanks for you...Simon And Garfunkel

  • for my sister...i love you tinker

  • not sure what you mean

  • You remind me of dog the bounty hunter.

  • sorry still dont know what you mean..please explain

  • Have you ever seen that show Dog The Bounty Hunter?

  • yes just wondering why i remind you of him

  • I just got that impression from your picture.

  • thank you but what mwde you look up my picture ????

  • You commented under this video with "for my sister...i love you tinker " and I was curious to know what you meant, also I like to gaze at peoples channels sometimes I find something interesting. You're more than welcome to look at my channel, it isn't much but I like it.

  • im a hippy and i say led zepplen the doors are way better

  • If you're truly a hippy then what are you doing on the internet? Shouldn't you be shooting up in some charge by the hour motel room in San Francisco?

  • Have lived this song for a long time. Its' all in the the lyrics of course, yet I find myself seeking excape from the bonds of solitude...anyone out there interested in talking?

  • I'll talk.

  • check THEM..out ay.

    Awesome+.

    love it...thanx.

  • Whats up with the spinning cards that say Fig?

  • The card in the center represents me and the four surrounding cards represent four of my cousins that I have grown intimate with.

  • Only now do I hear the lyrics, dedicated to Hector the inspector, Marconi, Lopez. We all feel like that at times...

  • Dude, this video isn't up for discussion. This is a cousin fucking discussion page.

  • To bbuysse15:

I too relate to this song more than I wish I did, yet find some kind of place of comfort in it....strange, eh.

  • This is cousin fucking commenting video. Not an "express how this song makes you feel" video.

  • You need to be quiet. You're very disrespectful. They weren't being negative to, or about, anyone; you are. Respect the music enough to appreciate it, and not spoil the mood by writing mean comments.

  • You need to lose your virginity to someone or something, you sound like a whiny kid.

Second of all don't talk to me about respect, I know this music as well as you do.

However after receiving this message promise me you won't cry.

  • You wouldn't be female by chance now would you? You sound very feminine. In which case you can excuse my first comment.

At first I thought you were homosexual.

  • Yes, I am a female. I suppose that would give way to my feminine nature of writing. Trust me, I have excused your first comment.

  • Do you have a picture of yourself? Also what's your age?

  • Comment removed

  • You shouldn't of erased your comment, I still got it.

And what I was hinting toward is maybe dinner and a romantic evening filled with lots of greasy sex.

  • I did because I had no intention of speaking about anything except this wonderful song anymore.

  • What do you say we take this into message then and we can discuss some details in private, cool?

  • So can stop spreading your ass long enough on your cam to a bunch of other degenerate men who have nothing better to do than drink and watch you naked, and seeing how many positions you can spread yourself in to answer my question?

  • How is this vid a cousin screwing video?? It's simon and garfunkle. Dude, stop wasting your time spamming the comments, it won't get you anywhere.

  • It is because I converted it into one. And I'm not wasting my time at all I'm having a great time spamming my comments.

  • If you're joking, it isn't funny at all. And If you're serious, dear God, you're just one strange Cookie.

  • I'm just one strange cookie then because I'm married to one of my cousins and am planning to marry the other very soon, both of which are sisters.

  • Tell me something about Australia; when you flush your toilets (because of the difference in the aquatical vortex south of the equator does your crap really shoot up through a pipe and out your roof top all over everything and everyone standing outside?

Also do you and your people drive backward on the roads looking through a rear view windshield?

    Fosters (Australian for Beuer!)

  • Yo, fuck Australia. Palatine > FriedRiceGalore

  • Australian's are ass backward anyhow. I haven't ever come across an Australian woman who was actually beautiful, that's why Australian women have big tits, so your frame of mind is

transferred from there plain or pocked up faces to their tight shirts with 40 DD+ breasts.

  • Go to Sydney, many beautiful girls, blondes, mixed Italian, Indian, Chinese and Aboriginal.

Elle Mcpherson, Miranda Kerr, Rose Byrne, Nicole Kidman (popular but not my taste) most Moulin Rouge girls in Paris are Aussies. i think you need to visit Australia and you will change your mind.

    cheers,

  • How I'd adore a visit to Australia. I have however been to Sydney and Melbourne before, and yes a lot of beautiful women. I would also love to have Nicole Kidman since she's so feisty, I could do things with her, plus I like tall women.

    Cheers.

  • I can relate to the lyrics much more then I would like... Simon and Garfunkel put it just right.

  • Simon & Garfunkel also made for one heck of a make out song for my cousins and I. WhoooHoo!

  • I think this New Years I'm going to take two of my cousins out to Las Vegas and marry them both.

I always said that this song was my victory song; I'll probably listen to it after I'm wed to both of them under the stars.

  • and a rock feels no pain, and an island never cries

  • WoW! You really nailed that last verse.

  • :D

    FredericaBimble is right.

No worries Frederica, youtube is chock full

    of retard brain dead commenters.

"cherry on top " is definitely spot on~!!

  • be nice :)

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!

    Simon and Garfunkel Rock!!!

  • This is my favorite Simon & Garfunkel song!

  • thats one horrible vid clip. the song is great though.

  • great song

  • What a random video..

  • Woulda been perfect without the last two lines. They show artistic immaturity.

  • i disagree the last two lines are my favorite and are like a cherry on top

  • This is so my song.

  • Hermoso

  • This song is awesome! I like rock Music, and only rock, but when I first heard this song, I got goosebumps! This is my favorite song.

  • This is who I am and I like it that way.

  • me too

  • skiman107: The song was written sarcastically about locking oneself away and hiding away and not being strong enough to take the chance on cultivating friendships or relationships in general. That is why the last line: 'And a rock feels no pain;

And an island never cries' explains the motive of the song. If you say the song is 'who you are and you like it that way' then the joke is certainly on you.

  • FredericaBimble, you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. Why don't you go take your bullshit philosophies and narrow minded assumptions else where.

Maybe there's a little kid somewhere that'll buy into your short comings.

  • Yes, I agree. I have no friends and no enemies...I just am. I don't bother anyone and no one bothers me. It's been working for me for many years...why should I change?

  • (try not to go further)edited)

  • youre right it wouldnt work for instance if you where in a wheelchair

  • I always liked the city of Amsterdam.

  • Hmmm...I hadn't thought of that. You are right. My comment was directed mainly at emotional & mental independence as a cure for many human problems.

  • That would actually be a very insightful and very song related philosophical quote. And I am glad you posted that.

  • i belove this song!

it was my dad's favorite and now it's mine

  • listen to richard cory by simon and garfunkle

    the words, not the tune

  • I remember once hearing my mom say how much she liked this song when she was my age. I listen to it now and I feel closer to her because of how applicable and timeless it remains.

  • yeah it is pretty timeless

  • Friendship causes pain???

    :O

    :O

    :O

    I would have to agree.

  • Yes, it does cause pain, more often than not.

I love the lines of this song: "I touch no one, and no one touches me."

Then again, this philosophy only works if you're as fiercely independent as I am. Other people are alright at times, but not essential. Self-sufficiency would cure many problems of the human race.

  • margaretregan, although in some ways I do believe what you say is true, try not go further into subsequent detail about the human race. Let's just keep this on a personal enjoyment level. Thanks.

  • I'm sorry but you have any faults in the text...

  • what "faults" are you talking about ? If there are some please tell me where, I do love this song .

  • the next comment was intended for Micha26ela .

  • i'm sorry but i dont find any faults at all! i don't know but you have no signs like in "I've", but that's all i can find!

i'm so sorry about my writing...

  • I love this song!

  • i loive the lyrics..but i dont really like the song..if that makes sense

  • Timeless, very cool!

  • What, were you drunk?

  • You know, babymoon, it looks that way but have had no 'dwink' for 5 years!

  • not sure i quite get the video... what is it?

  • yes i really enjoy this song from time to time its a very good classic indeed.

  • pa poner eso de video pones una pantella en negro macho

  • It is a good song.

  • I used to feel that way. Then I let someone into my "fortress". Unfortunately,he is the embodiment of this song. :(

  • I used to feel that way too, and I too let someone in... only she tore it down from the inside out....

  • i know the feeling, same thing just happened to me...

  • lol good song odd video
