@CgirlDK "Do" is plural, but you used "man" as the subject, which is singular. It should have been "does". I'm not sure why that person got ticked off about it, it's not such a bad error.
Anyway, it may sound a bit mechanical, but as an aspiring musician myself, I think Mr. Hisaishi probably just learned to compose through hard work and no small amount of talent. The result is nothing short of stunning.
Of course! It's one of the mistakes I keep making, even though I know it's not right. Thanks for telling me :D
About Mr. Hisashi and his talent, I think you're right. I still think he's a bit of a genius, but there's no doubt, he worked hard to become this good. :)
This suite reminds me of everything I won and lost in life. It simply makes everything in my life easier to accept and every human being I encountered an object of love. If only more people would truly understand the real emotions such a suite can trigger, our world would be a much better place. We have so much to share and learn from each other; a lot more than we have to fight over... If only more people would understand... If...
Cymbal crash at 1:50 just adds so much. It releases the tension that was building up until that point, truly amazing. This piece is just breathtaking!
@PeterPianoXiong It was mentioned in a documentary of the creation of the movie that they really struggled at that exact point in the score to add just the right emotional touch. It took many tries, until they came up with perfect the buildup and release. I'm glad they kept at it!
This song is so touching that this matches the theme of the movie. The way the fighting song works and the ending of a new beginning. this my favorite song by Mr. Hisaishi
I have watched the anime many times and absolutely enjoyed the music accompliment. I have also listen to many classial music as well. By chance i came across Joes name and thought this music sounds familiar. My goodness this is the first time i feel the music has brought a tinkling feeling all over my body. It was truly a emtional and moving music.
Lol for some reason the first notes of the piano looked like one of star trek songs... But seriously magnificent. There's no words to describe this... but the thing i will say is Thank you Joe Hisaishi and all the musicians :)
It will always be a profoundly enjoyable symphony that touches the heart and soul. This was half the reason why the movie was/is so highly regarded in anime history. Many thx again for the upload and let us remember to treat each other and our great planet kindly. Pe@ce
this is one of the most moving and beautiful suites ever written. hisaishi's works inspire me to live life happily and to persue music as my dream and career. i really hope to play in one of the orchestras he conducts when i grow up ^__^ i already have a piano book of many of the songs he's written for the animes! will upload me playing them in the future :)
this man. he has real talent. i mean CMON. just listen to this!!!! nothing can compare to this!! he is a genius and i love his music. :) even though i'm only in high school, i know what real music is.
@BizzieLizzieMusic Oh I knew that :) I meant this particular performance, the Symphonic Suite. I know it's a CD album, but I was wondering if it was on DVD too...
In ancient times, the land lay covered in forests,
where, from ages long past, dwelt the spirits of the gods.
Back then, man and beast lived in harmony, but as time went by, most of the great forests were destroyed.
Those that remained were guarded by gigantic beasts...who owed their allegiance to the Great Forest Spirit, for those were the days of gods and demons.
I truly haven't experienced such an experience that I get when I listen to this... So touching, so beautiful. It makes me feel like I am fully alive and experiencing the greatest things in my life all over again!
I love all of Mr Hisaishis music, but I'll have to say Mononoke Himes theme is one of his best compositions. The beauty of it, especially with Hisaishi-san at the piano and the fantastic violinist. This is music
.........I'd love to see the whole world clapping for this. This man deserves it. I've listened to this song about half a million times and I still haven't grown tired of it.
Not as beautiful as this =/....most movies today will use some type of R&B or rap song for there theme...So far the only thing i find that have good sound tracks are video games.
@GEOMATRYISHARD You should :D you have every right to be.... i wish i was a Japanese so that i can be proud of having such phenomenal talent as part of my country...

@Miwa493 We do, it's not common knowledge, privy to the band and orchestral nerds of the US. David Holzinger, Claude T. Smith, Robert Smith, David R. @Miwa493 I honestly don't know what's missing in our music these days, other than meaningful lyrics, but as far as musical scores in movies, James Horner and Howard Shore (I swear) have to be the 21st century Mozart or Beethoven. I mean the Titanic score - Epic and a real tear-jerker. LOTR - No comments, other than it's *that* good. As for Joe Hisaishi, I love his work, especially in Princess Mononoke. I couldn't agree more.
@jsteffey88 Don't forget Hanz Zimmer, who is a brilliant composer in his own right. Bringing life to Gladiator, The Last Samurai, Black Hawk Down, Kingdom of Heaven, all brilliant music!
@BrotherHugo500 Yes, Hans Zimmer is a great musical score artist. Although I didn't care for Gladiator, I think his greatest work done so far was The Lion King and The Dark Knight.
@jsteffey88 I didn't realize he did the score for The Lion King. That's truly beautiful. The thing i would say about Zimmer is that he really captures the cultural feel of each movie he writes for. It feels perfect for the movie, whether or not you personally like it.

@Miwa493 So that everything isn't always about the US... No offense to your country, but diversity is what make this world more beautiful.

In ancient times, the land lay covered in forests where, from ages long past dwelt the spirits of the gods. Back then, man and beast lived in harmony, but as time went by most of the great forests were destroyed. Those that remained were guarded by gigantic beasts, who owed their allegiance to the Great Forest Spirit, for those were the days of gods and demons.....
