@TrenosUK I'd love you to show me how it's done then. Really, I mean that, because I never claimed to be an expert. And even if I didn't like your technique, I wouldn't make some stupid remark without explaining an answer. This is just to try and encourage people to buy this mixer. I should be happy though. It took almost 30,000 people before a prick finally showed up. Well done.
You never take the filters out of hp or above say 400hz so all you're doing is removing the low end. And, seeing that this video is titled 'Demonstration Filters' you could at least do some quick up and down filter sweeps with the resonance turned up so you can actually hear the filters working.
"You never take the filters out of hp"..."all you're doing is removing the low end". And, seeing that this video is titled 'Demonstration Filters' you could at least do some quick up and down filter sweeps with the resonance turned up so you can actually hear the filters working.
@TrenosUK Did you even watch the video? Obviously you can't quite grasp what I was actually demonstrating. For the record, it's actually titled Mix Demonstration not Filter Sweeps For Trenos.
@TrenosUK Although my instincts tell me not to, I'll throw you a bone. The main message in this video is to help people understand resonance in junction with frequency. If you were paying attention towards the beginning of the video that might make sense to you. If you can dial them in together and maintain depth to the mix, you won't have that problem like you had at the 19ish and 23ish minute mark of your 36 minute mix. Yes, I listened to it which wasn't bad. But since we're critiquing...
i would say the djm 800 is better for vinyl because of the ability to change the key
for example if a song is 130 bpm and you gonna match it with a song at 120 bpm
the key will change so then you can compensate back on the mixer so the songs still match up(for example if its a set and the songs originally matches in key)
but they dont match anymore because the key changes along with the speed of the song(bpm)
all bout the allen and heath they specialise in mixers pioneer do tvs dvd players car stereo speakers etc the dj equipment is no where near the quality of the xone series
I read a cool and unbiased review about Xone 92 vs DJM 800 and in the end, both of them are very good. In terms of sound quality, the conclussion was that the Xone 92 is better for vynil while the DJM 800 is better for CDJs using the digital cable (orange one), although this advantages are very marginal since both machines are great. Nevertheless, what surprised me was that the customer service of Xone 92 was much better than Pioneer, when the guy asked for little knobs and pieces.
They are post fade level meters. That way you know if you will be clipping the output. If you turn the master level down, that set of meters will go down. Turn up the master level, the meters will go up with it.
@acido909 well, being that I'm running these tracks through Serato, sound quality wouldn't be any different if it was two records, they're just control disc. I use one of each to practice both. I do have a two other 1200's off to the side. I actually prefer vinyl if that helps any =)
One more might be nice, but it suffices. I'm trying to mix more by ear than visually now. Try to rely more on the sound than the lights. After all, that's what everyone is hearing. Maybe make some minor adjustments throughout the night using the led's to give you a constant platform to work off of.
i first scene one of these mixers the other night while i was setting up at together as one in los angeles. it was john digweeds.and when i scene it i fell in love with it i think i now need to buy one GREAT DEMO
once you play with one of these, you ll never want to use anything else.nothing beats the sound quality and the feeling of this mixer. the main faders are a little fragile though, need to be replaced from time to time.
I've been interested in getting into turntabling and had my eye on the Xone:92 because of its straight-forward focused design and quality. I usually don't like onboard effects and I love how it has auxes I could run through ableton live for effects. I've always had good experiences with A&H projects. The ML5000 is one of the best sounding consoles IMO.
Don't laugh: how's this thing for scratching? I'm concerned the crossfade might be too big and slow.
I probably wouldn't buy this thing for scratching. The crossfader moves fairly freely but it is a bit tighter than say, a Vestax. Besides, why destroy a $2,000 mixer when you can buy a Rane or Vestax for a lot less?
I'm not sure what you meant by "destroy." Were you implying that scratching's heavy use of cross faders wares the cross fader down?
Can't many mixers have their crossfaders easily replaced? Allen Heath products are notorious for being repair friendly with their easy access. I believe you can unscrew the plate the crossfader sits on and you can modify or replace the hardware directly below.
@TMWTMP100 I'm greatly interested in the other features especially the midi and lfo/filters. I use ableton quite a bit. But would this thing be bad for scratching? Is the fader too long?
I dont own this mixer so I cant say. But I do know in Ableton, you can change the shape of the crossfader pattern and one selection basically has the music 95% cutoff about 70% of the way in each direction.
@beefman210 It was on My Favorite Robot Records and released March 11th 2009. Do a track search for Nation Eyes on BP. For some reason Anno does not come up when I do a artist search.
@entertextimagebelow the record's called "My Favorite Robot's Second Stimulus Package". It's on Discogs, if you look up my favorite robot, click through to their record label and find the release there. Release code is MFR004. Hope that'll help people in finding it! (can be found on Beatport also, MFR label's "all releases" page, page#8)
greaaat man thanks definitely buying xone 92 soo smooth damn perfect and just one more thing, can i assign parameters to the mic knobs?? right from ableton or any software thanks man great vid
well, Im not too familiar with that to be honest. However, the mic and send/return options on the xone92 are endless so I'm sure it's capable. Maybe if you could explain a little more I'll see if I can answer it better. Thanks.
meen sounds amazing im actually deciding from djm 800 or A&H xone 92 i looks amazing very professional and daammnn is so sexy that mixer i dont know djm 800 seems like fool proof and well im directly into da mix not fooling around with lame fx that just make the transitions sound terrible if people dont know how to introduce in the right way the fx into the song but well whatever haha i was wondering if you have or can recomend any video showing the 4 band eqs thanks
hey mate, I would choose a Xone 92 anyday over the djm800... I used to have a 800 but sold it and ended up getting a xone 3d.. Ive played on a 92 loads of times.. and has much better warm sound to it.., best analogue 4 band eq mixer there is!
Sure. Give me a day or two and I'll post another one showing more features. I'm sure the 800 is a great mixer. Pioneer does make good mixers. However, once you buy a Xone and play with a bit, you'll never go back.
There is a 'split cue' switch which will split the left and right levels. Left channel overview will be the current track and the right level will be what is cued.
Normally what I do, however, is make sure my beats are on and that all my levels sound good, then while I'm actually bringing in the next track I just deselect the cue to get a visual on my levels (although it's 99% by ear) and if I have to reselect the cue again to double check my match I will. Everyone has different styles, this just works for me.
