"this is not Wales, it is the Border country of Scotland" The song is about the Scottish Borders right enough but the video isn't. Or at the very least most of it isn't! There's even a sign saying Killiecrankie for those who wouldn't actually recognise the places themselves.
@MrG050 and @Mikosch2: I also remember it well from the Green Line textbook - I loved the song from the first time I heard/read it and I know the lyrics and melody by heart since then :)
@MrG050 This song first touched me when I was alone in my dear brother's home..my dear sister-in -law, a true Britt... they welcomed me into their waiting arms... still do.. she says we are Welsch, through and through...I don't know. All I know is that this song and his other song, "Magic Shadow Show" touches me as nothing else does. Please listen to it .
This song written and performed by Matt is a priceless little gem - Matt was able to convey every fibre of his soul in them. I have heard it scores of times over the years it never wanes.
maybe djnameless2 wasn't saying it's a welsh tune. i reckon he was just saying it''s a wonderful folksong and that the comment and greeting was from wales... i think so! cheers taff!

My ancestors owned Morton castle in the hills above Nithsdale, in Dumfries and Galloway near the border, and by the way i love this song.
