  • fun,fun,fun.... one of the best things about Christmas music

  • 5 people are deaf.

  • Tine Thing, Alison Balsam, Ingrid Jensen all can kick it better than most male trumpeters. You need to get out more

  • @fugueboy45 look up Tine Thing Helseth and her trumpet concertos, you will bite your tongue.

  • @fugueboy45 This is the most ignorant comment I've ever seen.

  • @fugueboy45 - how long have u been an asshole?

  • @fugueboy45 Your sir, haven't looked hard enough.

  • @fugueboy45 are you out of your mind??? That is extremely sexist and if you have any idea about any sort of music then this comment might knock some sense into that hardhat of a head you must have; my band director is a female and she just so happens to be the star in two different jazz band as well as an orchestra. the best thing for you to do at this point is probably either remove that comment or get a life; you might actually consider thinking about how bad of a trumpet player you must be...

  • @fugueboy45 as for the slow tempo... thats faster than i could fathom. You might want to keep your mouth shut, fuguefail.

  • Champs-PbatVg

  • Superb performance. Splendid harmonies.

  • YES! OUTSTANDING....

  • YES!

  • the guest trumpet, victoria hall, was my music teacher in grade 9, an AMAZING musician and teacher

  • song starts at 1:07

  • Horn lines crazy.

  • 3 people either missed the "Like" button, or they need to go buy a trumpet and try to play this....

and then then they need a 21 gun salute. to the head.

  • me too! its reallllly popular lol

  • I'm playing this as a trio at my school :D it's amazing

  • @sgtredbull how cool. so am I.

  • @QddpprrQ: I think you've mistaken the sound made by the excellent tubist - Charles Daellenbach. He's playing way above the normal range of a tuba, that'll why it sounds like a baritone...

  • Needs a faster tempo. Good otherwise.

  • love this peice my high school band is playing this and i would have to say we have an amazing trumpet section, not saying that cause i play the trumpet because i play the french horn.

  • Baritone player needs to chill out a bit xD Amazingly awesome anyway though. Canadian Brass is the best.

  • @QddpprrQ What Baritone player? two trumpets, one French Horn (who tends to 'Blatt" now and then...) Trombone, and Tuba...

  • @QddpprrQ no baritone player...

  • @MrHarvey17 I remembered about 5 seconds after posting that. Thanks though :P

  • Amazing......I love it:X

  • i played this in my highschool band a couple of weeks ago =] we sounded good

  • what a cute event!!

  • love this piece. my high school band is performing this

  • Voll Gut

  • Even Gabriel can't beat this.

  • @TheTexn Where do you think he learned

  • ......i would like to see the actual video

  • amazing sound quality for such an old recording. our top ensemble played this, but it was crazy hard for them.

  • lol right, a high school played it better HA *sarcasm*

  • "A bit slow and Victoria Hall 'DON'T' play good....ROFL LMAO.....if she can keep up with these guys she'd pretty damn good....LOL Oh...add some remedial English to your music studies...LOL

  • dude relax

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 you need to chill those guys have been playin for years and shes only in high school and she had to of been nervous. for bein so young shes good. id like to see you get up there with them and play it.

  • Mr. Clark, You obviously didn't see the post that I was ridiculing when I wrote what I did...Pure sarcasm over some semi-literate writing and was not intended in any way to diminish the young lady playing the trumpet. I think she's exceptional. Since I play the saxophone and clarinet it would be difficult, if not impossible to join in and play with this group...After all, Leroy Anderson DID write this specifically for the trumpet in 1954.

  • post a video of you playing better than these three.

  • I played this song back in high school. Probably my favorite song.

  • i played this song once... its awesome

  • You know I have listen to different groups on You Tube performing this and I will say this, The Canadian Brass performing this song, (in this Video) is the best that I heard. The Canadian Brass are just Fantastic.

  • epic

  • These guys are just 'magic" and quite refreshing to hear....they are extremely talented and are among the best brass ensamble I have heard in quite a while....keep it up guys.

  • The Canadian Brass was genious in appealing to the audience. In a time where it is increasingly difficult to make a living in entertainment, they have combined their amazing playing ability with something that will appeal to the audience MORE than just simply playing.

  • it's good and all, but i prefer the faster version.

  • What a thrill for Victoria to have the chance to play with such superb musicians...her joy of playing with them outshines any minor criticisms.

  • I haven't picked up a trumpet in 20 years, so I doubt I can still double-tongue, but I loved playing this one in high school.

You're right, kamakamameleon, this is not the Canadian Brass at their best. Normally, they rock (in a brass-ensemble kinda way), but while this is good, it's not their usual quality.

  • I find double tonguing to come in useful. I know people older than me who just can't get it and some who get it easily. I was lucky to catch on quickly. Although I do have a question...any one can give me pointers on circular breathing? when i was in school, my douchebag of a teacher told me that double/triple tonguing and circular breathing werent worth teaching. Any pointers?

  • see the Rafael Mendez video where he demonstrates. His recording of "Moto (or is it Modo?) Perpetuo" will raise the hair on the back of your neck.

  • i believe his performance was actually done in two takes however Marsalis' performance was done in one take =P

  • to circular breath, puff ur cheeks with air then push the air from ur cheeks into your horn while breathing in with your nose. it takes a while to do it tho. My teacher told me to practice it by blowing bubbles in a cup of water (with a straw) Eventually i got it just keep practicing

  • Go to the ITG (International Trumpet Guild) Conference next week. There will be some really amazing players there who you can have a lesson with. You could ask them about circular breathing.

  • my dear friends, listen very very good to this performance !!! I',s not that good as Canadian Brass should be. I'm sorry to say. !

    Kama Bugle

  • He's talking a bout a young Trumpet female Player name victorea Hall performing a happy song called Buglers Holiday

  • 1st time I heard this I was playing bass in a USAF jazz band-the Downbeats-at the Toips In Blue contest in Wash. DC. I loved it then, and your version is great now.

  • wow! Amazing!! I could listen to the canadian brass all day.

  • Me too. They're great!

  • You would have to be insane with your tongueing to play this. If you could play this, consider a career choice of speed-talker.

  • its double tongueing. Most people can do it.

  • What timmyboy said. The song is easy if you master double tongueing. I was playing the first trumpet part to this song at the age of 16 with little to no problems.

  • ggg your so good, you can play buglers holiday, wow and only at 16

  • Wow, Sarcasm and bad grammar, how can I top that. Don't worry, if you like I can teach you how to double tongue on your kazoo. Oh wait, you CAN hum, can't you?

  • You criticize Dave for his grammar mistakes, yet you incorrectly spelled tonguing (not to mention incorrectly capitalizing sarcasm). Besides, you are no slouch yourself when it comes to (s)arcasm. A triple irony! Hope your trumpet playing is better than your writing faults.

  • not true my dear Timmy.

Most of the trumpetplayers cannot play double tongueing !!! It needs a lot of practise to play very proper.

  • Yes... it does take a lot of practice, but at least in my area it a very standard skill that won't get you anywhere if you can't do properly.

You are correct. To a beginner it is challenging. Perhaps I am simply taking my allstate ability for granted :(

  • from my experience, i've seen that double-tounguing is just about as common as other abilities, like double-jointedness and the ability to curl your tongue.

you either have it or you don't. sometimes you can practice and get better, but for the ppl who have it, it comes very naturally.

  • Multiple tonguing is a basic skill for brass players at even a semi-professional level. Bugler's Holiday is at about the difficulty level appropriate for a decent high school band. A typical undergraduate trumpet student in conservatory would be able to sightread through it without much difficulty.

  • yea i moved to an area that taught double tonguing, never even heard of it. I can get it, just not quite when i'm playing =/

  • Bammy, I disagree with the other two fellas here, I don't think just anyone could tongue and play like this. I'm glad someone posted this song on here, just great!

  • its not a song, its doesnt have lyrics

  • It doesn't need lyrics to be considered a song.

  • Um, yes it does actually. Look up the definition for song on Google.

"A brief composition written or adapted for singing."

  • when they come to Colombia

  • cuando vienen para colombia pues

  • great edition of this classic, but i think in too many of the more recent performances of this tune the double tounging isnt as crisp as the older ones. I think the boston pops and the air force do a much better version of this. go on i tunes and check it out. I think mr. anderson intended for the attacks and articulations to be much crisper

  • canadian brass is almost too good.

  • too good? no such thing!

  • I love canadian brass they're the best i saw them in concert three times.

  • Mr. Anderson would be VERY proud of this performance! Excellent!!

  • ...wow....

  • super!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @feb29229

why are they number one hundred-bajillion-fadrillion and one? i think they are number one.

  • This so cool. I knew Vicki years ago and she is an awesome trumpet player. I remember her winning with a group from highschool an award with honors in a brass quintet and they played Canadaina Brasses version of the canon... Newt

  • great ! Candian Brass is always super.
