Michigan has great tradition at reciever Where is G McMurtry? He played in the league for many years. I think Braylon was special, but Derrick Alexander was definitely the most elusive, and fluent. Terrell and Edwards bullied and muscled people for the ball. I watched Carter alot in the USFL. I remember Musberger telling the story of Mercury Hayes wanting D Alexander to give up the #1, but Alexander said no way....It was too precious...

The # 1 jersey has a scholarship by Braylon tied to it, it goes to a deserving WR, and Braylon picks up the scholarship, this year no one will wear it. You have to earn the right to wear it, both on and off the field. Woodson also has 1 tied to anyone who went to his highschool who goes to UM.

Nice job, but Greg McMurtry should be in there too. No need to include Butterfield, obviously, but McMurtry was a very strong player at Michigan. Until Manningham he held the record for freshmen receptions. Only WR in UM history with four straight 20+ reception seasons. Led the team in receptions in numerous seasons.

No, that's not really accurate. He was going to give it to one of the freshmen DBs (J.T. Floyd), but then found out what a big deal it was to fans and obviously it won't happen.

Admitted to being ignorant on the matter and apologized if it upset anyone. Since none of the freshmen even have numbers yet, it's not a real big deal.
