  • The DS9 uniform was essentially based on the scheme of academy uniform seen here.

  • What episode is this?

  • See, whenever the great "Kirk or Picard" debate comes up, this is one of the scenes I show anyone who says "Picard's not badass". Picard could put you in a corner with words alone.

  • Wesley got Told

  • "SHUT UP, WESLEY!!"

  • Why is Wesley wearing the DS9 unifrom?

  • @horaciosi He's not: it's the cadet uniform. You can see the collar is different.

  • Sir Patrick Stewart MADE this series ! God Bless His Soul !

  • After watching several clips of Wesley, I can't but feel that, compared to many adolescent characters brought in on TV shows (circa Dawn Summers, Becky Connor, etc), I don't really see what's so outstandingly bad about him. Yes, he has personality flaws, but he isn't so bratty and whiny, that I want him slapped necessarily. In fact I find him kind of tame.

Whether it is I have little experience of him being at his worse, I don't know. But still.

  • Isn't that typical of Parents; "Do as your told not as I do"... Didn't Picard truthfully take on in his youth three Men twice his size out of Pride and it cost him his heart?

  • @2490debrick yep, but he didn't lie about it, and plus everyone saw what happened

  • @2490debrick But he never lied about it. He made a mistake and accepted the consequences.

  • Dear GOD this scene is good

  • I disliked this because of the misleading title. Picard ought to have powerslammed that insolent wee fucker!!!

  • 4 people sat in picard's chair

  • picard speaks for the fans against wesley

  • This is my favourite scene from the whole of Star Trek.

  • The 4 dislikes are all from Wesley accounts.

  • The title alone perked my interest.

  • Damnit, Jim!

  • WHEEEATON!!!

  • I was expecting a smack

  • I love how Picard has to "explain" it to Wesley (who would have already known it) so the audience would know what it is. A very old theatrical tactic.

  • @Mozart1220 SHUT UP WESLEY

  • @Insanticus Wesley is a WIMP! I would have much rather seen him being areal teenager, harrassing the girls and souping up shuttlecraft.

  • Why do I feel like singing 3.08 - 3.24?

  • Shutup Wesley

  • is it possible weasly crusher is a decendent of justin bebier and snookie that would explain the massive level of douchbagery?

  • WHEEEEEAAAAATOOOOONNNN !!!!!

  • @TheSILV1982 Dr. Cooper?

  • Comment removed

  • @NumbFlynn you're in my spot!

    BAZINGA!

  • Wait, wait wait.

    "I choose not to answer"

    What. The. Hell.

Like you can just CHOOSE which orders you want to obey in a military organization. If I'd tried that as a a cadet, my commander would have broken my skull open with the nearest blunt object -- or his fists, if nothing was readily available.

I'm learning to hate Wesley all over again. Thanks, YouTube!

  • @Seer1185 No he would not.

  • @Seer1185 It's not a military operation technically.

  • @Seer1185 he was within his legal rights to not answer, court was pending and shit

your commander wouldnt have done shit, because it was already under a magnifying glass from legal because someone died, your commander would be reassigned and demoted in a day

  • @Seer1185 Assuming that Starfleet personnel have the same rights as US military personnel have today, Wesley is protected from incriminating himself. In fact, after Wesley invokes his right, Picard stops interrogating Wesley and shifts to just dressing him down for lying. Just like in real life, Wesley is probably in far more trouble for helping to cover up the accident--lying to a court of inquiry and to his superior officers--than he would have been for the accident itself.

  • gordie :)

  • @Vital - Yes, partly...i remember seeing an interview w/the writer and he wanted to break Wesley's image of the golden boy who could do no wrong or something like that. This is probably one of the best TNG episodes in the whole series, well acted by Wheaton too.

  • Smackdoun???But picard didn't even throw a punch?!?

  • @florenmage He's the goddamn Captain, he doesn't need to throw a punch.

  • @TheHowlingDark LOL Fair enough.

  • I wonder...did they make this episode specifically because they realized that everyone who watched the show hated Wesley?

  • It's too bad; for all of the first few seasons Weasly was INSUFFERABLE, and now around this time the character has grown into a well-rounded person. Unfortunately, this episode is the only good one that centers around him.

Kind of a waste of character development to stick him with the Traveler and forget about him.

  • this authoritative posturing is coming from a simiarly brash cadet who started a bar fight were he got stabbed in the heart , and even after a chance to reverse that fate decided to take it on all over agian

  • @jmm1233 I think the difference is that Picard suffered the consequences of what he did; suffered for them until the day he died (via his artificial heart). Weasly was trying to avoid what happened all together.

Also, getting stabbed affected only himself. The Starburst maneuver killed Weasley's friend.

  • Now i want to watch the picard song.

  • I like that they tarnished Wesley's good-guy image... but not too much. Also, he's really cute here. Yup, I was one of the teenaged girls they were targeting by casting him, and it sure worked.

  • 3:33,

    Wesley: Captain-

    Picard: SHUT UP WESLEY!

  • which episode is this?

  • Comment removed

  • This scene reminds me of why I hate Wesley.

  • Comment removed

  • The idiots didn't think to use the holodeck to try this out and perfect it before they got their mate killed lol?

  • There are four dislikes!

  • @Toast960 That's a pretty obscure reference but I (and a few others) get it. I applaud you.

  • @Toast960 I couldn't see why you'd be so surprised about that. It took me the whole time to watch the video before I noticed it was a pun/obscure-reference. I salute you, and if you haven't seen it already, refer you in return to XKCD comic 902.

  • "Presumptuous child playing on my ship" exactly what Wesley was, lol.

  • @Brian6587 True,he was simply annoying.

  • SHUT UP WESLEY.

  • Angering Picard would be Like Angering an English Sea Captain out of the 1800s.

Think of Colonel Sherman Potter Really Mad !

  • @Roadracer987654321 Funny you should say that...

One of Sir Patrick's best roles was as Captain Ahab.

  • @Martintheauthor I Remember seeing Sir Patrick Stewart's Literally Smashing Role in his New Version of Moby Dick.

I recall reading in the Newspaper( now it woul be Online ) that that was commencing filming in the southern hemisphere. It is of course just a coincidence that that was around 8-9 months after First Contact premiered with the Reference to Captain Ahab has to go hunt his Whale... in it ... I remember seeing it on A & E in around 1998 or 1999 when it first was on. Years Do Pass..

  • wesley is a douche.

  • 3:40 Picard's you're dead to me face.

  • Poor Wesley

  • Until now...

The words formed in my mind, hoping it would be as he would say! ::)

    3:02 : Epic

  • He should has played Witwitichi in Transformers.

  • I was here cause of the picard song, the part where he is like

THE FIRST DUTY OF EVERY STARFLEET OFFICER IS TO THE TRUTH, SCIENTIFIC TRUTH, OR HISTORICAL TRUTH, OR PERSONAL TRUTH. IT IS THE GUIDING PRINCIPLE OF WHICH STARFLEET IS BASED, AND YOU CAN'T FIND IT WITHIN YOURSELF, STAND UP TELL THE TRUTH YOU DONT DESERVE TO WEAR THAT UNIFORM. Look it up haha

  • 3 know it all punks dislike this one

  • I love this guy. I love how Picard gets to the point, how he demands the truth from the young ensign.

  • Sisko really needed to hear that speech. Would have prevented the abomination that is "In the Pale Moonlight".

  • I like it when Picard gets angry, it's a controlled anger, not ballistic as such. Both Sir Patrick Stewart and Avery Brooks (playing the best two captains IMO) played their characters anger well.

  • bullshit

if you are asked and you tell the truth

omission is not a lie. its just not the WHOLE truth.

  • @HandyMan101 Which is why, in Picard's book at least, it is still a lie.

  • 1 person dislikes the truth

  • So as much as Wesley deserves to be chewed out as a punk I seem to recall Picard himself playing fast and lose with the truth several times.

  • @RJLbwb Playing fast and loose for a purpose. Wesley was covering up for a stunt that had no purpose other than to show off.

  • Yeha, so why am I watching this?

  • Wesley needed a spanking.

I would've gladly administered it, and enjoyed every second of it.

    Sexy bastard.

  • Picard or death

  • Picard > Kirk

  • @DarthBenadic c'mon, that ain't fair!

Kirk could out-clever his way around anything, and Picard... well, the fundamental rules of the universe simply yielded to the magnitude and epicness of his integrity.

    Can't compare the two!

  • @DarthBenadic But Original Series > The Next Generation (as Leonard Hofstader said :) )

  • @DarthBenadic Kirk > Picard

  • "I'll bet Picard had his share of Go to hell speeches like the one he gave Wes! I'm sure he got a good one when he got impaled during his ensign days!"

  • u choose not to answer? when picard got up i wouldve started running

  • Haha - "I plead the 5th" doesn't work with Picard.

    Good job Picard!

  • This scene was acted out very well, good job Patrick and Wil

  • Picard shut him down oooooooohhhhhhhhh

  • Picard shut him down

  • Wesley get the fuck off my ship and reasign your sorry ass to Voyager! Captain Janeway is running out of disposbale little whiny red shirts in the Delta Quadrant, dimissed!

  • @MobileInfantryGrunt Hell yeah, IF he survives, have the Little Shit spend the rest of his time in Starfleet assigned to DS9 cleaning the heads with his own toothbrush.

  • Fuck yes. What epsiode is this from?

  • Love the way this scene is shot, much more dramtic than the usual.

  • A Junior Officer Crossing Picard is like an incompetent Idiot Crossing Prince Phillip of the Royal House of Windsor. Big Mistake.

  • A lot of people believed Wesley had this coming to him for several seasons, shoot make it since the pilot episode.

  • Stewart and Wheaton did a fine job in this scene.

  • this episode is on right now!!! love this scene

  • What episode was this from?

  • @DrkKaiser it's called "the first duty"

  • @DrkKaiser

Ep.58 series 3 "You Suck Wesley Crusher - Lieing Donkey"

  • Patrick Stewart needs to make an appearance on The Big Bang Theory. If they ever make another Wil Wheaton episode.

  • @rufusvonstorm Which more or less means..."Wesley, you`re a lying bastard...so now fuck off"

  • @Blokecameuptome And because he's such a sulky little bitch he can't even lie convincingly.

  • YOU SAT IN MY CHAIR!!!!!!!

  • SHUT UP WESLEY!!!!!

  • Wesley's such a little bitch.

  • All that is missing from this scene is the legendary one-liner "Shut up Wesley!" I'm sure they could have put it in somehow.

  • Oh snap! Little shit got owned!

  • Picard was only interested in getting his leg over Beverly....otherwise Wesley would have been tossed into a black hole along with his Atari a long time ago

  • @Blokecameuptome actually, deep down he was impressed with Wesley's knowledge on starships. He also felt he owed a great deal to Wesley's father who died under his command.

  • @Boxanadu Plus The Traveller had told Picard that Wesley was a special kid.

  • @dwccherry well he was.

  • ...so help you God...

  • will looks soo young!

  • Picard is awsome. One of the best chars ever.

  • i feel sexual tension.....

  • i love this episode

  • " I choose not 2 answer " words Never uttered 2 a Flagship Capt.

  • Wesley is a moron. He was an Ensign aboard the flag ship of the Federation and decides to go to school and become a Cadet who gets seduced by peer pressure.

  • @lsl70

You touched on something important. Wesley was spoiled/coddled. He is a kid who had little character building until this incident, and I am willing to bet he also has no spine. I always disliked this character a little. But, as I'm watching "hollow pursuits", you can see what a jerk he really is in how he treats Lt. Barkely, nicknaming him broccoli. But, he gets away with that kind of meanness & insubordination, especially with senior officers, because of who he is.

  • @lsl70 Not just a moron, he's a weenie. Mommy must have been hugging him too much, dammit Beverly!

  • @testy462 He probably enjoyed those hugs a little too much as well. He's one sick puppy.

  • what episode is this ????

  • @hopeahooper Season 5, Episode 19: The First Duty. Thanks, Google!

  • @hopeahooper "The First Duty"

  • OMG Professor Xavier!!! BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • PWNED

  • Why does Wesley have a DS9 uniform on in this scene? I thought that was just a Star Trek Generations thing.

  • @TheCatholicBoat

Prior to DS9 (which this episode was) the "DS9-styled" uniform was actually the cadet training uniform. When DS9 came out, they used that style of uniform to base the new uniforms on.

  • Wesley watched this and hit dislike

  • @SexyStarTrekGirl82 Four times.

  • Nice hair Wesley.

  • The only thing Wesley deserves to wear is a corsette.

  • The first duty to every starfleet officer is to the truth, whether scientific truth, or historical truth, or personal truth. It is the GUIDING principal of which in starfleet is based, if you cant find it within yourself, to stand up and tell the truth about what happened, then you dont deserve to wear that uniform.

  • looks like Wesley Crusher must have thumbed this down lol

  • Wesley disliked this.

  • @Phelan666 How can you say that? He's awsome on the show and you never know what he'll do next.................

no wait, I'm thinking about Q.

  • I loved this episode until I found out that Wesley wasn't going to get thrown in prison and kicked off the show for ever.

  • He said come! HahAHAHAHAAH

  • Picard RULES!!!!!! Best Star Fleet officer EVER.

  • The picard video song!!!!!!!!

  • THIS is the reason that Picard is my favorite Captain.

  • The 1 guy who disliked this is wesley Crusher.

  • What really bothered me about this episode is why is Wesley training to be a pilot? Wasn't his goal to be an engineer?

  • @brianhourigan If star trek has taught us anything, it's that if you're a regular officer in the show, you can apparently perform the duty of any member of the crew.

  • @nbeckster1 eh I guess if you are on a ship with around 700 redshirts you have to go by the old adage of "If you want something done right do it yourself or just tell Geordie to go do it"

  • @brianhourigan

He was training to be an officer: engineering, security and command officers all went to the Academy. Remember, the girl who also involved in the accident later joined Worf's security team in series seven, but she also took piloting lessons.

  • @novasigma ah yeah I guess that makes sense

  • what eposide is this?

  • @weinmj First Duty from season 5

  • SO he's not Tom Paris from voyager??

  • @asuch874 no he's not

  • @asuch874 same actor 2 differnt roles kinda funny

  • @asuch874 I know right! It's the exact same storyline.

  • Whatever became of wesley? Was he ever an officer? Did he amount to anything?

  • @janhammerrules

I think he left to explore with someone, but we see him again in Nemesis, but most of his clips were cut from Nemesis so we just briefly see him.

  • @Usul573 He should have had his own show - team up with Q and cause havoc. :)

  • WHEATOOOOOOOOOOOOON !!!
