It's not that they hate them, it's probably just that they don't get their music. People nowadays are used to fucking ready-made music, always the same shit. The Mars Volta is an original, amazing band in a league of its own. I must admit that a few years ago I was in my "Metallica era" like every young teenager, and an older friend came to me and said listen to this that's amazing. I was like...wtf is that? I didn't get the genius of these guys until last year,and now they're one of my fav band

@s4msam yeah, when i first heard them i knew it was something special but it took me a year or two and a live performance to grasp what was going on. one of the best bands of this generation.

Lol, I was listening Metallica too a lot before I found The Mars Volta. I still think Metallica has great music though, cause it isnt really "ready-made music." But I agree on every other point with you.

I liked the de-loused/tremulant days with Jeremy Ward. He was a perfect sound manipulator. Nobody will ever match his talent, RIP.
2nd: amputechture. the lyrics mean a lot to me
3rd: frances. love the 30min track
4th: either bedlam or octahedron mainly because I haven't had the time to get into those as much

I love, Love, LOVE, The Volta my hands down Fav. was francis the mute however all of there stuff has been great. Ive seen them live about 5 times. Never got to see at the drive in wich to me was ok. but I hope the Volta keep doing there thing for many years to come.
