  • Hey, it's been 3 yrs, could you please post the longer interviews

  • I do not want to sound like a troll but I don't really like trekkies, or anything star related. Why, because the rest of my family watches it to much and are on the verge of being trekkies.I have WAY to much star trek stuck in my mind as well as stuff like stargate.Sure you could say I'm a troll or not smart just because I'm saying this but at least I'm being nice about it.

  • The Geek shall inherit the Earth. Remember that!

  • You know, it was filmed in 60ties right,Computer effects didn't exist then, and for a low budget show, the Series was very succesful. Even the earliest James Bond movies looked poorly acted, but they were still masterworks.

  • At its time, the original series was considered technically amazing.

Also take into account that every episode was given only one week for production, and DesiLu gave it a budget a full third of Mission Impossible, their studio's cash cow.

  • There's no depth to it because you don't see it. Star Trek has more depth than anything that has ever been on TV. Are you seriously not seeing the magnificent parallels to the problems at the time, and the problems we still have today? All their references to religion, politics, racism, sexism etc etc...

  • Shows weren't allowed to do that in the 60's. It, as so many have put it before me, "boldy goes where no man has gone before."

And it makes it fun and watchable to people of all ages, even if you don't get the whole underlying messages.

  • Star Wars and Star Trek are both awesome! Why cant we all just get along?! And how come everyone always try to compare the two? They are both completey differnt and stand alone on their own just fine.

  • Okay for the record, I'm not even a Star Trek fan... but dude, do a little research before you run your mouth. There are LOTS of Trek video games... not many new ones cause the newest Trek series, Enterprise, didn't even get the Trek fans. And then you wanna relate videogames and sexuality? God you're an idiot.

  • See I would have thought Star Wars fans are more likely to be gay with all that light sabre waving, its quite phallic, plus Luke Skywalker was blatently in the closet, such a little bitch who made out with his sister. i think Star Wars fans are the ones with the issues!!!

  • Have you ever even watched star wars? Luke did not know she was his sister and the lightsaber is a much more interesting weapon then "phasers" made out of old drills.

  • He knew, he's a Jedi, he definitely knew. i didnt say light sabres weren't cool, I just said they are more gay.

  • You are right. The original Lukes' lightsabre was not made from an old drill. It was made from an old camera flash tube.

  • I'm just saying that the props in Star Wars were not so easy to spot, they looked spacey and futuristic, everyone knew that the trek guns were drills.

  • Dude, do some research before you speak. I have at least 10 gay/bisexual friends who all love video games. Star Trek has quite a few video games and is coming out with an MMO in 2010. You want a good story line?Watch DS9. Characters also depend on who's watching it. For example:I think Odo from DS9 is amazing and he has an awesome story line throughout the series, yet quite a few people don't like him. And cite your source on more gay people liking Trek, this should be interesting.

  • cont- (This doesn't seem to want to post this right under the one I'm replying to.This is to Jabbadooha) I'm not gay and I love dressing up, not only as Trek characters but as others too. And what does being gay have to do with this anyways? Who gives a crap as to your sexual orientation when it comes to Sci-Fi? And I've also seen Star Wars fans at cons dressed up in storm trooper outfits or as Darth Vadar or some Jedi I don't know, does that make them gay?

  • You must have known what rating you'd get with that cold-blooded comment, jabbadooha.

Oh, suuuure Star Trek is a weak seller because it HASN'T got a huge fanbase, it HASN'T earned ten movies, and it HASN'T survived forty years. Oh wait.

And what the heck is wrong with being gay? You should do and be whatever makes you happy.

You should know what you're talking about before you slam it.

  • Yeah what peembis said!

  • TREKKIES RULE.....I love Star Trek and especially TOS. AND YES ! I'm proud to call myself a TREKKIE. You can mock us but you can't bring us down lol lol lol.

In the words of the wise vulcans....Live long and prosper.

  • Peace and long life.

  • STAR WARS

  • Should be warning that it includes excerpt from "Banned From Argo".

the song is humorously banned from fliksings as the most overplayed filk of all time.

  • This makes happy to be a fan of Star Trek, those people are cool, I would love to hang out with people like that.

  • Right on, baby!

  • I've never seen a full episode of Star Trek in my life (not my kind of show) but I think that is people are passionate about it, let them be passionate about it. Who cares, when did it become our business to judge people we don't know.

  • you wont regret watching any episode of star trek the next generation when they go into the holodeck, really cool, you will be hooked.

  • I'm not really into sci-fi shows and what not but my friends that watch it really enjoy it =)

  • thats beacuse your stupid

  • that is true

  • RIGHT ON!

  • wow.. what a great comment.. very smart

  • No more pathetic than people who exercise their right to treat football like a combination religion and extended orgasm LOL

  • I agree wholeheartedly, I don't watch football (the proper kind, that involves kicking a round ball), but I love Star Trek (except TOS, could never get into The Shat as a real actor xD, I'm a Picard guy i guess :-).)

It just seems that all the actors really go out of their way in defending the extremely nerdy part of their fanbase. Most of the people in Trekkies are probably insane anyway. I mean, no sane man would redecorate his dental clinic to look like a Sovereign class starship anyway xD

  • still, i think when you start introducing yourself as 'commander' to people who dont watch the show u might have a problem...

  • Filking stands for?...

  • Who else would like to see my full interview with John Colocos? Also have longish interview with Jimmy Doohan if there is sufficient interest.

  • @465sackville I would love to see your full interview with John Colicos -- and even more would like to see your interview with Jimmy. Were they both from Toronto Trek? I was there, if so...

  • @465sackville would love to see both -- especially the interview with Jimmy!

  • I'm a Trekkie and proud of it.

  • I'm glad you're proud too! Everyone who questions Trekkies are fans of something too, so what's the difference?

  • I always enjoy these type of interviews, and debating on weather I should add it to my Fav's. Then John Colicos came on, as soon as I heard his "tread mill" anology, I knew it was a keeper--what an insightul man. Excellent.

  • I have more of John I could post on YouTube if there is enough interest

  • yes there is

  • yes pleeeeeease! post it! post it! post it! :-)

  • Yes, please! I'd love to see some more John stuff on youtube! :)

  • Where is the clip with John De Lancie from? Could someone let me know. I'm writing a paper and I need to reference this.

  • I was responsible for the John De Lacie clip. ddd It was done in either 1991 or 1992 at a Toronto Trek (fan-run) convention held at the Regal Constellation hotel near Toronto International Airport. He was a featured guest at the convention. If I find a more precise date, I will post it here.

  • Thank you So Much. You've helped me a great deal.

  • Who cares! He's a gorgeous man!

  • isnt John Colicos dead? What did he do in Star Trek?

  • John Colicos died here in Toronto a few years ago. I believe he had a heart attack. Colicos was a huge fan of all Stek shows and used to watch them at his local pub. Also, he was a big supporter of the fans and said they did not deserve to be ridiculed. He was a nice man and a very gifted actor. He was in only one episode, as the first Klingon, Kor.

  • He was in 4 episodes . . . one TOS (as a Klingon), then the same Klingon in three Deep Space Nine eps.

  • I think they meant one ep of TOS. Cool he was a fan and not just picking up a paycheck. I didn't even know that.

  • Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. I'm thrilled to see their responses.

  • AMEN! (but that bathing suit guy was kinda scary)

  • interesting
