This is the reason that when ice in your glass melts, the level of the water neither decrease or increase. However, the water frozen on the land would add MORE water to the ocean. Using the glass scenario, imagine melting a cube of ice in your hand and letting the water drip into the glass...the amount of water would INCREASE

Its taken completely out of context, but even just listening to his tone and structure: he's answering a series of questions, he addresses the Gitmo question first because the answer to that is EASY TO SAY. He's going to close it down. It IS easy to say that. He doesn't state that it WILL BE EASY TO DO IT, it's just easy to answer that question.

No. Sea levels would not drop. Ice displaces the same volume of water it would have in its liquid form. This is the reason that when ice in your glass melts, the level of the water neither decrease or increase. However, the water frozen on the land would add MORE water to the ocean. Using the glass scenario, imagine melting a cube of ice in your hand and letting the water drip into the glass...the amount of water would INCREASE

Try this little experiment. Freeze a bottle of water. It expands. It works on uncarbonated beverages. There would be the same amount of water, but it would occupy less space if it had melted.

Consider that S.S. has been a political football since it was originated by FDR. Just to get the facts straight, according to the projections from the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office (CBO), Social Security can pay all scheduled benefits until 2046 with no changes whatsoever. The idea that Social Security is about to go bankrupt - that there will be "nothing there" for young workers - is nonsense, as everyone familiar with the projections knows.

When it comes to "climate change", social security, or any issue you must follow the money. On both sides of "climate change" people are run by money. My point is that belivers of "climate change" do not realize that their side is run by money. Scientists need findings that donors like to keep funding coming in. Yes for many (not all) it is about the money NOT the science. If they have a finding that does not agree with "climate change" they omit it and never speak of it. It's the money!

Where we disagree is that you believe that most eco-scientists (I read that to be supporting scientists of "climate change") are apolitical. I see many of them kissing up to Al Gore and businesses that would do well by cap and trade.

Cap and trade is similar to the program enacted by the Clean Air Act of 1990, which reduced the sulfur emissions, that cause acid rain, and it met the goals at a much lower cost than industry or government predicted.

SERE candidates have a safe word. They are voluntary participants, and the program does not involve holding them captive and torturing them for two to five years. Yes, our people tortured. Waterboarding is torture, hell, even solitary confinement is torture if it lasts long enough. We've done far, FAR worse things than either of those, and we've done them to SUSPECTS, NOT CONVICTS. Not that it would make it any more excusable had the victims been convicted beforehand.
