This is considered the best old-school Castlevania and Symphony of the Night is the direct-sequal to this game. It took Konami long enough to get it out of Japan though (November last year is when they finally released a translated version onto PSP) and rename it Castlevania: Rondo of Blood. Before the PSP version was made the ONLY platform this was available for was TurboGrafx and it was only released in Japan even though it got critical acclaim.
you can hear the final quarter of the game where fights against Dracula, I am bored of doing the same again and again the chapel

The rocking effect is a great touch.
The final area is great for a large boss fight.

you know, i will never get tired of 2d castlevania games, even if they released one for the ps3 i would buy it right away.
They are just fun, more fun than 90% of any other kind 3d games out there with their fancy graphics and stuff, but they are just plain shit.
I take a 2d Castlevania over any other game.

The Garden of Madness theme from Dawn of Sorrow would actually fit this level.
